•Invites Enyeama, Musa, 13 others to Eagles’ camp

For the first time in a long while, Stephen Keshi has dropped Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, from the list of foreign-based players for the June 13, 2017 Africa Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier against Chad at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

An indication to this development emerged a few days ago when Keshi told SportingLife that Mikel was the only foreign-based player that did not pick his calls when he made efforts to contact some of the players ahead of next month’s clash.

Another prominent Europe-based player missing in the squad is Fernbache striker, Emmanuel Emenike, who has endured a turbulent season with his club in the Turkish Super League.

It would be recalled that Emenike was not part of the squad that played in the Eagles’ last two friendlies against the Cranes of Uganda and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in March this year.

However, the Big Boss kept faith with first choice goalkeeper and skipper Vincent Enyeama and 14 other overseas –based professionals.

The three –time FIFA World Cup star is joined by defenders Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi and Babatunde Michael and forward Ahmed Musa, who were all at last year’s FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

Exciting right back Leon Balogun, Israel –based John Ogu, former Switzerland junior international Steven Ukoh, China –based Aaron Samuel and Odion Ighalo, whose 20 league goals helped Championship side Watford FC to the English Premiership, have also been called alongside former junior international Rabiu Ibrahim.

New faces William Troost-Ekong, a defender based in The Netherlands, Kingsley Madu of AS Trencin in Slovakia and Portugal–based Anderson Esiti complete the list.

In his seventh game in the Veikkausliiga wearing the jersey of Ilves, Emenike Mbachu opened his account for the Tampere based outfit, whom he joined in the winter transfer market.

On all counts, it was a moment to savour as Ilves narrowly defeated the guests Lahti 2 – 1, with Emenike opening scoring in the 57th minute and playing the full 90 minutes.

The winger had spent 276 minutes on the pitch before scoring his maiden goal in the league for Ilves.

However, in all competitions, the former Maltese – based player netted his first goal in the League Cup on March 8 against Inter Turku.

Ilves occupy the tenth position on the 12 – team table, with two points separating them from the last relegation spot.

Emenike to swap Fenerbahce for Fulham

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, could be used as makeweight in the deal by Fenerbahce to land the signature of Kostas Mitroglou from Fulham, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Reports have has suggested that the Londoners would be willing to offload the Greece international in the summer transfer market after failing to make an impact at the club due to injuries.

Greek side, Olympiakos is also interested in the forward, but Fenerbahce hopes to steal a march on its rivals by offering Emenike to the Championship club as part of a deal that would see Mitroglou move in the opposite direction.

The Nigerian striker recently purchased a house in Essex which has fueled speculation that he could be moving to an English club sooner rather than later.

The 27 – year – old joined Fenerbahce from Spartak Moscow in 2013 for a fee thought to be around 13 million euros.

    Emenike buys house in Essex

The London Evening Standard yesterday reported that a Turkish source Hurriyet  confirmed that Emenike has in fact bought a house in Essex – as he looks to leave the Istanbul club.

The £16 million-rated Nigerian is linked with a move to the Barclays English Premier League side Totenham hotspurs with claims by Emenike’s agent that  Spurs were keen on the striker.

Reports in Turkey would suggest that deal might indeed be on the cards. Emenike has had his troubles in Turkey recently. He subbed himself out of a game in March after booing from his own fans and expressed his dismay at being in the Fenerbahce team coach that was shot at earlier this month.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike for over a year now. Most recently, it was reported in January by The London Evening Standard that the Nigerian’s agent had claimed.

Now, if these reports prove to be true, he clearly has his eye on a move to a London team, with Tottenham clearly the favourites to snap him up.

The Nigerian has scored just four goals in 25 appearances this season but had a good record with previous club Spartak Moscow. Tottenham are in need of a new striker this summer, with Emmanuel Adebayor an outcast and Roberto Soldado barren in front of goal. Emenike might just be the man to support Harry Kane.

    Emenike escapes death in Turkey

Emmanuel Emenike and the  rest of his Fenerbahçe teammates were lucky men after a gunman fired shots at the team’s bus on their way back from a 5-1 win over Caykur Rizespor.

Fenerbahce’s team bus was shot at by attackers armed with shotguns, leaving the vehicle’s driver wounded but the players and staff unharmed.

Emenike, who has been battling poor form and almost walked off the pitch two weeks ago following boos from his team fans,  was punished for his actions as he was left on the bench until the 55th minute when they were already five goals up but he will still have a reason to cheer after escaping unhurt from the gun shot incident, which almost ran the car off a cliff as bullets hit the team driver.

The driver was hospitalised with wounds he suffered from the attack and doctors have since confirmed that a metal object was found in the driver’s head, which was bleeding profusely upon his arrival.

Location of the shooting at Trabzon lead to suggestions by Fenerbahce’s vice president Mahmut Uslu that Trabzonspor supporters were behind the attack, though there is no evidence to support such assertions.

There has been no love lost between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor since the aftermath of the 2010-2011 season, when the former won the title ahead of the latter despite being embroiled in a match-fixing scandal.

Trabzon’s Governor Abdulcelil Oz initially claimed the damage was done with stones but released a subsequent statement suggesting the bus was definitely shot at.

  • Emenike deserved a yellow card

    Emenike deserved a yellow card

Galatasaray have  argued that Emmanuel Emenike should have been shown a yellow card by referee Firat Aydinus for attempting to substitute himself when Fenerbahce met Besiktas in the last round of matches.

Going by the rules, the Nigeria international ought to have been cautioned by the match official for attempting to walk away from the pitch and pulling off his jersey.

In addition, Emmanuel Emenike returned to the pitch without taking permission from the referee , as it is the norm.

Aside the 27 – year – old’s poor form in front of goal, the forward also has a poor disciplinary record in the Super lig, having been cautioned 6 times already.

Emmanuel Emenike was booked five times last season, but he has already surpassed that unwelcome statistic with nine games yet to be decided.

Fenerbahce Coach: Emenike has seen war in Nigeria

Fenerbahce manager Ismail Kartal has urged supporters to show understanding with Emmanuel Emenike, in the wake of the striker attempting to get himself substituted last weekend.

With only four goals to his name this season, the Nigeria international is lacking in confidence, and after missing a sitter against Besiktas, his own fans booed him.

”Emenike has seen war in Nigeria, the player has had a very difficult childhood. And that’s the reason he is full of emotions,” Kartal said at a press conference.

”He is a pretty good man, we have to show him more understanding. After what happened in the Besiktas match, I sat down and talked with him.”

Coach Kartal added: ”Now his morale is better and he has began to laugh. We should note that Emenike is our contracted player.

”He is playing in the most important part of our game as a striker, and we cannot keep him away or out.

”However, we do not know what will happen in the future.”

Emenike is not the first player to be booed by Fenerbahce supporters, with ex Spain international Daniel Güiza also suffering the same fate after having a bad game against Trabzonspor.

However, Güiza did not get upset and attempt to walk away from the pitch.

    Chelsea keep N4.1bn for Emenike

Chelsea’s search for a new striker has led them to Nigerian international Emmanuel Emenike, currently of Turkish side Fenerbache with words rife that the Blues are now favourites to land Emenike at a cost of around £16million (about N4.1billion).

The 27-year-old striker is reportedly looking for a move to the Premier League and with Chelsea having made enquiries for the player last summer, it looks like a match made in heaven.

Emenike has become disillusioned with life in Turkey after falling out with the clubs fans following a derby match in which he was jeered for recent poor form. The player was subbed at half-time and then left the stadium before disappearing for two days. The Nigerian is now facing a fine of 50,000 euros.

Reports in the Daily Express suggest that Chelsea are looking to sign the striker at the end of this season, with fans favourite Didier Drogba and summer signing Loic Remy looking all but certain to leave.

London rivals Arsenal, as well as Liverpool have both previously been linked with the striker but Chelsea now look favourites to land Emenike at a cost of around £16million (about N4.1billion). Mourinho will be hoping he leaves his poor form in Turkey though, with the player scoring just four goals in 27 games in all competitions this season for Fenerbache.

    Sow offers Emenike support

Senegal striker Moussa Sow has called on Fenerbache fans to back struggling Nigerian forward Emmanuel Emenike who was booed by his own fans in Sunday’s 1-0 home win over rivals Besiktas.

“Our fans should support him. We need him for the title. This season has been tough for Emenike. He would like to contribute to the team.

“He is very eager for success like us but our fans want us to win the games – they are aware of this season’s importance,” Sow said.

Emenike reacted angrily to jeers after missing a sitter in the encounter by taking his shirt off, storming off the pitch, only be to be talked back on by his coaching staff.

Emenike – who is in his second spell at the club – has only scored four goals in 22 league appearances this season for title contenders Fenerbahce.
