    • As Fenerbahce win big

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike has cleared the air on the reason for his exclusion in his club, Fernerbache’s 4-0 rout of Elazigspor in a Turkish League game played on Sunday.

The big forward revealed on his tweeter handle that a slight injury ruled him out of the tie.

“Out due to small injury. We’ll be fine next week” The former Spartak Moscow striker tweeted.

Emenike’s compatriot, Joseph Yobo was also absent for Turkish side Fenerbahce as they romped to their biggest win of the year in a 4-0 whitewash of Elazigspor.

The last time Fenerbahce scored four goals without reply was in December of 2012, when they defeated Goztepe in a Turkish Cup game.

The next four goal romp was in March when they dismissed Bursaspor in a League game, but they conceded a goal and won 4-1.

Then, Fenerbahce scored five against Sivasspor, but conceded two goals in a 5-2 win.

Senegalese international, Moussa Sow was the star of the day as he scored a hat-trick, finding the net in the 10th, 80th and 90th minutes.

Former Liverpool striker, Dirk Kuyt scored the second goal after 21 minutes.

Emenike is yet to find the net for Fenerbache, while Yobo has made only one appearance so far this season.

I missed Mikel, Emenike against South Africa – Keshi

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi , said he missed the services of midfielder John Obi Mikel and striker Emmanuel Emenike in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Challenge played on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles put up a dismal performance in the first half which ended goalless, but improved after the break thanks to the introduction of Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa who brought fresh impetus to the game, futaa.com says.

Keshi said his decision to replace his forward line at the start of the second half after starting without Moses and Musa was to give other players the chance, and not build the team around a particular player.

“I missed Mikel, Emenike and Kenneth Omeruo and numerous other players, and my players missed them too but the good thing is that we are not building the team around individual players but rather as a unit.

“Our team has been evolving for a while. We played with a couple of players who haven’t been with the team for a while like Victor Obinna Nsofor and Shola Ameobi who didn’t quite get into our movements off the ball and on the ball but will be gradually re-integrated as we go on.

“The South Africans were expecting Musa and Moses in the first half, so I kept them to see how they measured up. They are not here to eat, so I had to put Uche (Nwofor) along with Moses and Musa and they delivered, “futaa.com quoted Keshi as saying to journalists after the match.

partak Moscow striker, Emmanuel Emenike, has promised a $50,000 reward to the Super Eagles if the team qualifies for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria leads a qualifying group that includes Malawi, Kenya and Namibia with five points from three matches.

Emenike, who is out of next month’s World Cup qualifiers in Kenya and Namibia due to recent injury to his knee, said he has been a Super Eagles fan long before he debuted for Nigeria against Sierra Leone in 2011.

“I promise the whole team $50,000 if we qualify for the World Cup in Brazil,” Emenike told MTNFootball.com

“Like I said before that we have a team that can make this country proud, and I am doing this from the bottom of my heart just to motivate the team. I am not doing this to intimidate anybody but just to show my total support to the team because I grew up supporting the Super Eagles.”

He added: “I am really behind the team. I don’t want them to miss me because there are other players who can get them the goals.

“Before I decided to play for Nigeria, even before I dreamt of becoming a professional footballer, which I am today by God’s grace, I have been a passionate fan of the Super Eagles.

“I could remember when I used to watch the team way back at the 1994 Nations Cup and World Cup, and I am speaking today as a Super Eagles player, it is a great honour. So the team means a lot to me and that is why I deem it fit to support the team in my little way.

“I never knew I will play for Nigeria. This is a reward for what I have done in Europe and it is time I supported my country even more.”
