    Jonathan greets Adeboye at 73

President Goodluck Jonathan has paid glowing tribute to the productive spiritual leadership which Pastor Enoch Adeboye continues to provide for members of his church and Christians in Nigeria.

In a congratulatory letter to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on the occasion of his 73rd birthday on Monday, President Jonathan also expressed his profound appreciation of the prayerful support which Pastor Adeboye gives to the present Administration.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati said: “It gives me great pleasure to felicitate with you on the occasion of your 73rd birthday.

“On a personal level, I have left every meeting with you greatly strengthened and deeply inspired by your steadfast faith and commitment to the peace, stability, growth and development of our dear nation.

He wished Pastor Adeboye very happy birthday celebrations.

  • Adeboye condemns abortion, approves use of contraceptives

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has condemned the act of abortion as ungodly and not biblical.

Adeboye made this known at the monthly prayer and thanksgiving service organised for pregnant women at the RCCG, National Headquarters, Throne of Grace, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos.

The programme tagged Shout of Joy brought together thousands of waiting mothers and featured bible teachings, prayers, prophetic ministration and anointing service.

According to him, the bible condemns abortion in its entirety and othe church is against it because it is ungodly and unbiblical.

He said that although God is not against family planning as it is permitted to prevent pregnancy among married couples but as soon as the sperm meets with the egg, any attempt to abort it is not biblical.

Adeboye, who spoke through the Special Assistant on Personnel and Administration, Pastor Johnson Odesola, said “you can prevent pregnancy but once the egg and the sperm meet and is formed, anything that suggests that it should be terminated is against God’s word.”

On when the life of the pregnant mother is at risk and the option of abortion is being considered, he said “the option of abortion is an option preferred by medical professionals but as Christians, we believe in miracles and that God is able to take away every problems.”

“There is nothing God cannot do even if the life of the woman is at stake; pray for a divine intervention and God who created the universe knows what to do in any situation we find ourselves as we look up to him in faith.”

He gave a testimony about God’s miraculous intervention on his wife whom medical personnel had said would not be able to give birth again because her womb had been damaged; Adeboye said “today we have all our children without any ceasarian operation because we trusted in God that cannot fail.”

He encouraged pregnant women to always take time out to rest, eat well and avoid too much stress as life is too short to live carelessly.

Adeboye opined that children will definitely fight themselves and give mothers tough times during pregnancy but mothers must not come themselves up. He said “play your part in the training of your children, watch and be careful that you don’t stress yourself.”

Adeboye supports extension of emergency rule

THE General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has thrown his weight behind the proposed extension of emergency rule in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.

Adeboye spoke with reporters at the special prayer and thanksgiving session for traders in Nigeria.

The service attracted thousands of traders, owners of small and medium scale enterprises and captains of industries.

According to him, the state of emergency rule in parts of the north should stay until members of the Boko Haram sect are arrested and their sponsors punished under the law.

Adeboye said that the ongoing insurgency in parts of the north, which he said has some backup within the system, must be addressed for victory in the war against terror.

The respected preacher, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, said: “Our problem in Nigeria is that there are people who don’t want to say the truth and I’m very positive that those fomenting the trouble have a back up within the system.”

Adeboye condemned the abduction of the Chibok girls.

He stressed: “There are many enemies within the system. Some people know where the children are and it looks like a calculated attempt to destabilise this current administration.

“It is high time we identified the perpetrators of the abducted girls in Chibok and let the law take its course so that others can learn.”

He also called for the removal of the immunity clause for executive political office holders.

Adeboye argued:  “I support the immunity clause to be removed or reduced so that we will be able to allow the law to work and there will be no sacred cow.”

He challenged Nigerians to remain at peace with one another no matter their religious, tribe or language differences.

  • Jonathan prays. Better he should weep

Jonathan prays. Better he should weep

WHILE worshipping with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, at the Olive Tree Parish, Ikoyi, Lagos, last Sunday, President Goodluck Jonathan set great store by prayers. Had Christians not prayed, he postulated, the country could have been fragmented by terror attacks. Barometer would not like to be drawn into theological arguments with the president, but wouldn’t he also like to try some weeping for the country he leads, seeing how helpless he often sounded? Or perhaps, as some scoffers suggested, quoting James 2:17 and 24, could our lethargic president not see great merit in accompanying his reliance on prayers with some brilliant works?

  • Pastor needs N5m to live

    Pastor needs N5m to live

The situation is getting almost hopeless for Femi Alao, a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He is bed-ridden with a life-threatening kidney ailment for which he needs N5million for kidney transplant in order to live to tell his story.

The Ikere-Ekiti-born zonal pastor of the RCCG in Ikoom, Cross Rivers State was struck by the ailment about two years ago. Since then, his chance of survival has remained hung in the balance with a weekly dialysis to the rescue. He is currently in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ido-Ekiti.

A few days ago, the 42-year-old cleric who had earlier served in places like Erijiyan-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti, Iseyin in Oyo State and Obubra, Cross Rivers State, was taken from FMC, Ido-Ekiti to Calabar to attend a state-sponsored crusade anchored by the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. He was, however, unable to see the respected man of God for his anticipated deliverance.

Not ready to leave things to chances, Alao’s younger brother, Anthony, in a letter dated January 17, 2014, sought the assistance of Ekiti State Government through the Office of the Commissioner for Health in order to raise funds for the kidney transplant. The family is still waiting for government’s intervention to restore his health.

Speaking with The Nation, Alao’s younger brother, Deji, said: “His worsening plight has become the source of a major headache for us in the family. For him to live, he needs kidney transplant that can be done either in Ilorin or at the Kano University Teaching Hospital (KUTH). The cost of which is over N5 million, according to doctors treating him at FMC in Ido-Ekiti.”

“We have spent a lot on his treatment, especially on the weekly dialysis which costs thousands of naira. We have written letters to Ekiti State Government, the leadership of RCCG and our town’s union, asking for financial support for his kidney transplant. We are confident that our ever-responsive state government and the RCCG’s leadership as well as all the people we have reached out to, will come to our son’s aid. We want Nigerians also to assist us in getting our brother out of his frightening condition.”

Nigerians who might be willing to help, Deji said, should call him on 07035457369, 08034365192 or 08062634830.”

Imbibe Christ’s virtues, Adeboye advises Nigerians

THE General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to always live righteouly as it remains the antidote to shame, reproach and nakedness in life.

Adeboye made this call at a special programme organised by The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Lagos Province 1 held over the week at the Centre for Management Development, Shangisha in Lagos.

The event, tagged “The greatest gift,” brought together thousands of Christian faithful which featured praise, prayer and worship.

Adeboye advised Christians to reciprocate God’s love by shunning sin and live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Adeboye cited the scriptures, saying the problems of man can be traced to sin and disobedience to God’s word.

He stated that although some church leaders preach breakthrough, riches and faith which may take one to the top, he averred that “holiness of life will keep you at the top and take you from glory to glory.”

He reminded the audience that Nebuchadnezzar was humbled from being a king to living with animals for seven years because he was proud and when he repented, God restored his glory and affluence.

  • Adeboye charges Nigerians on obedience to God

Adeboye charges Nigerians on obedience to God

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has charged Nigerians to always obey God and His word in their daily activities.

Adeboye made this charge at the just-concluded 16th Holy Ghost Congress of RCCG held at the Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The programme, tagged ‘The Overflow,’ pooled together millions of Christian faithful from about 150 countries.

The event featured prayers, Bible teaching, business seminar, family talks, prophetic ministration, thanksgiving service and anointing service.

During the week-long event, traffic that often characterised the Lagos-Ibadan expressway was significantly reduced, with the church personnel complementing efforts of men of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) and other government agencies.

Speaking on the final day of the Congress, Adeboye charged Nigerians to always exhibit godly virtues, adding that there is nothing God cannot do to change the fortune of the country if only the people can turn to God in true repentance.

He added: “For us to enjoy the abundant overflowing blessing of God, we have a price to pay as God’s blessing is not cheap. They are for the people that will remain faithful and obedience to His word.”

Adeboye also used the occasion to debunk the rumour of his alleged ill health, which has been a subject of discourse in the social media in recent times, describing it as “untrue and unfounded.”

“I have learnt that some people are impersonating me by asking for public support to take care of my ill health and support for an orphanage home in the social media. It is a lie; it is not true, please ignore those messages. I am healthy and strong and would remain strong until Christ comes,” he said.

He also warned Christians to be wary of false prophets who claimed in CDs currently in circulation to have died, gone to heaven and came back to narrate their extra-terrestrial experience.

Adeboye informed the congregation Tthat these are the last days where certain people would come up with different things to deceive the Church of God.

He urged the congregation not to waste their money and time on such CDs, adding, “We should rest on the word of God to tell us what we need to know about heaven and how to get there. We shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.”

In his sermon, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Felix Omobude, challenged the congregation to remain strong in faith and never to be defeated by the varying challenges facing the nation.

He said, “We must not be deterred or lose hope in the midst of the storms blowing across the nation as God’s people can never be defeated. We can never be defeated because Jesus Christ has never lost any battle.”

It was testimonies galore during the Congress, as worshipers who came in from different parts of Africa testified to the goodness of God.
