Nigerian international, Vincent Enyeama has returned home to his family after quiting the national team following a row with Super Eagles handler, Sunday Oliseh.

The Lille of France goalkeeper this week announced his decision to bring his 13-year international career to an end on his instagram account and left the team’s camp in Belgium.

He was not part of the team that lost 0-2 to Congo DR in an international friendly in Vise, Belgium on Thursday night.

It now seems the 33-year-old has now put his row with the national team handler behind him as he posted a picture of himself and wife, Promise in a training session, with a caption: “Training time with wifey. He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtains favour from God.My??.she got me ?????? in my moment of grieve.”

Promise had earlier endorsed the decision of her husband to quit the national team, referring to him as a hero.

“I have witnessed your passion and commitment firsthand. You spent sleepless nights just to analyze every goal you conceded, even if there was nothing you could do to save them.

“You played through injuries, pains and fatigue. You took the bullets of unjust criticisms, biased and false reporting/information, just to let peace reign.

“You missed important family moments to honor national call-ups. Thank God for the opportunity/privilege to serve the nation. Thank God for the strength/skill to carry out your duties.

“Thank God for all the memories( good and bad). You leave as a hero. You bow out as a legend. Our children, grandchildren and future generations will hear and speak of your great deeds. God bless you my husband. God bless Nigeria.” she wrote.

    NFF backs Enyeama against Oliseh

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has backed goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to remain in the Super Eagles camp after the row with Coach Sunday Oliseh.

Oliseh, who was physically angry over the late arrival of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to the team’s camp in Belgium, asked the player to shut up and be thrown out of camp by security operatives.

Nigeria will play two international friendlies against Congo DR today and Cameroon on Sunday in Belgium.

A bereaved Enyeama was in Nigeria last weekend to bury his late mother, who’s death saw the Eagles captain miss Nigeria’s last two games against Tanzania and Niger. That development did not go down well with Oliseh who did not show remorse over the Lille shot-stopper’s sad condition at the time.

Oliseh told the media in September that the goalkeeper opted out of the Super Eagles ahead of their trip to Tanzania without an excuse.

Enyeama arrived Belgium late on Monday to meet an angry Oliseh who ordered him out of the team’s Hotel Verviers camp, and subsequently named Ahmed Musa as captain for the two friendly games.

But the NFF would douse the tension as they waded into the matter.

“It’s true that there was a little misunderstanding in the camp of @NGSuperEagles, but the matter has been resolved. Enyeama remains in camp,” the NFF said on Twitter.

With the latest development, Nigerians wait to see who stands in between the sticks for the Super Eagles two friendlies, as well as who captains the side.

Enyeama is Nigeria’s longest serving player with 101 appearances for the Super Eagles.

Vincent Enyeama, who has been stripped of the Eagles captaincy, trained with the rest of the Eagles squad in Belgium on Wednesday, same as late invitee Wilfred Ndidi.

Contrary to some media reports, Enyeama did not quit the Eagles camp in Belgium after his major fall-out with coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday night.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick had also reassured that Enyeama will train with the rest of the squad notwithstanding the row of the previous day.

Genk defender Ndidi, on the other hand, was a late call-up after six players from the domestic league were yet to be issued visas to Belgium.

Another late call-up Dele Alampasu was expected to hit the team’s hotel later Wednesday after AfricanFootball.com was told he had called from the airport in Lisbon, Portugal, he was on his way.

Today’s match against DR Congo will kick off at 7pm inside the VISE Stadium, and will be the first between both countries’ senior teams in five-and-half-years. on Saturday as he scored in a 3-2 loss at Union Berlin.

Duisburg are now bottom of the 18-team league with two points from nine games.

The former Chievo Verona player was just appearing for the second time for the team and he has registered a goal to prove his quality.

Nsofor pounced on a pass in the 56th minute to take the game to 3-1.

His compatriot Kingsley Onuegbu, a 67th minute substitute for Martin Dausch, scored Duisburg’s second goal in the 84th minute.

Enyeama mulling Eagles retirement after row

Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama, is considering his international future after a bust-up with coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday night, ESPN reports.

Enyeama arrived at the team camp on Tuesday, after attending his mother’s funeral last Saturday in Akwa Ibom.

Reports said Oliseh was unhappy about his captain’s late arrival and demoted him at a team meeting after dinner, naming CSKA Moscow forward, Ahmed Musa, as the new captain.

“I was surprised,” Enyeama, who has 101 international caps, told ESPN FC. “So I stood up to explain my position and ask for an explanation, but the coach asked me to sit down.

“I insisted on speaking because I felt that with the years of dedicated service I have given to the country I deserve at least the respect of giving my own side. But he told me that either the whole team would leave the room for me, or I would have to leave the room for the whole team.”

The Lille goalkeeper was later expelled from the camp.

It took the intervention of Nigeria Football Federation president, Amaju Pinnick, to resolve the matter and Enyeama was allowed to remain with the squad.

However, the goalkeeper has indicated it is unclear if he will continue to represent Nigeria.

“There have been several incidents these last few months,” he said. “I don’t need it, the team does not need it, so maybe the best thing might be to step aside in the interest of the country so that the team can focus on football instead of distractions.”

  • I told Oliseh about my mum’s death – Enyeama

I told Oliseh about my mum’s death – Enyeama

Super Eagles Captain and  goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who just lost his mother has exclusively told us that he can not be “Fighting” his superiors, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as well as the Super Eagles coaches with his late mom yet to be committed to mother earth and while he is still yet to come to terms with the  turn of event.

Enyeama, Eagles most capped player ever with 101 international caps over the past weekend lost his mother and revealed that he was completely devastated but that he called coach Sunday Oliseh as well as Team Secretary Enebi Dayo Achor to tell them of the development.

    His words:

“I was completely devastated on hearing of the death of my mum that my mind went blank, it was totally unexpected.I immediately told my coach at LILLE and he informed the club management and they  immediately called me to sympathise with me. I also called up coach Sunday Oliseh to tell him about it and I also called Dayo Enebi to tell him about my situation that I am not really sure I am strong enough to make the game.

“I asked Dayo to tell the NFF President, Pinnick and he said no since we didn’t want to disclose the situation but I could not call new goalkeeper coach Alloy Agu because I do not have his number. I communicated with them as they tried to persuade me to come and I guess that was when they bought my flight ticket to Nigeria but eventually I could not make it.”

“My mind can’t just make it, this is a crucial game and I am not psychologically strong enough and can’t jeopardise our chances. How can I be fighting my superiors when the body of my mum is still cold, these things don’t happen to you daily, its not a normal challenge. I thought I have notified those I am supposed to because that was the normal procedure.

“We deal with the coaches so it’s not about calling the federation president but informing your coaches. I am sorry for what ever inconveniences all these might have caused but right now football is the last thing on my mind, losing my mum is the worst thing to have ever happened to my life and I have never travelled this road before, I am too sure that my commitment to Nigeria is 100 per cent and I respect my superiors,’” said Enyeama.
