  • Everton chasing Ba loan deal

Everton have held talks with Chelsea over signing striker Demba Ba on a loan deal, according to the Daily Mail.

Manager Roberto Martinez took Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea last season after initially attempting to bring Ba to Goodison Park.

Lukaku’s future at Chelsea continues to remain uncertain after the Belgium international claimed no one from the club has spoken to him since September.

The Daily Mail says that Everton have asked Chelsea whether they can have Lukaku for another season but are waiting to see if there are any developments in the interest from Atletico Madrid for the striker.

Ba is currently on £80,000 a week but the Daily Mail reports that Everton and Chelsea are still “some distance apart from his personal terms”.

Everton have also made an enquiry about Adama Traore at Barcelona having had success with landing Gerard Deulofeu last season.

    Spurs, Everton chase Emenike

Tottenham and Everton are reportedly interested in securing the services of Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike, according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish website Fanatik reports that the player would cost around £10million (N2.8bn) although Fener would ideally not sell their star striker.

Emenike only signed for Fenerbahce last summer in a strange transfer saga which saw him arrested for match-fixing at one point.

He actually signed for Fenerbahce back in 2011 but was immediately sold in the same transfer window to Spartak Moscow because of the allegations, before Fener decided to bring him back two years later.

And his first season with the Turkish side saw him net 11 times and his physicality is deemed perfect for the Premier League.

Spurs are in the market for a striker after Roberto Soldado’s nightmare debut season in England which left them with just the inconsistent Emmanuel Adebayor and inexperienced Harry Kane at their disposal.

Everton are in an even more dire need of a centre forward as their first choice striker from last season was Romelu Lukaku, who returned to his parent club Chelsea.

Emenike is similarly strong like Lukaku and would be ideal for holding the ball up and allow Everton’s midfielders to play off him, just like Lukaku did so well last term.

    • Moyes rages at linesman

Everton manager David Moyes was left to bemoan some disputed decisions by officials which cost his side the chance of victory at home to Newcastle on Monday.

Nigeria international Victor Anichebe’s header was not spotted by linesman Ceri Richards despite appearing to cross the line. Anichebe almost spared the officials with a goal with two minutes remaining only for Ba’s second of the night to snatch a point for the Magpies.

Also, Marouane Fellaini had one effort ruled out for offside. Fellaini scored but the Belgian was wrongly flagged offside

‘There are two goals missed so I can’t get them back but you hope that the linesman has a look and sees how he missed them,’ said Moyes, who spoke to the officials after the game.

‘I had a word and said ‘You’ve missed two goals’ and it does affect the outcome of the game but what can I do about it?

‘I am sure the referee will have a look at them himself and see if he got it right or wrong – which we all know because we have seen it. Fellaini’s goal was onside and if your job is to look along the line you hope the linesman sees if the ball crosses the line but we’ve seen many occasions where they don’t get it right.

‘I thought the offside goal was a goal from the touchline so I was surprised when it was ruled out.

‘The other one you can’t really tell but the reaction of the players was that they felt it was over and they are not usually far off the mark.’

However, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who had to watch from the stands as he served the first game of a two-match touchline ban, admitted Everton had been hard done by.

‘The one over the line was definitely in,’ he said. ‘I have been saying all along that technology must come in and it has cost Everton a crucial goal tonight.’
