APC slams Fayose for alleged ‘diversion’ of Paris Club refund

    •Accuses labour leaders of conspiracy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has criticised Governor Ayo Fayose for the alleged diversion of N8.8 billion Paris Club refund released by the Federal Government to states to offset salaries and retirees’ allowances.

The party accused Organised Labour of conspiring with the governor in the alleged mismanagement of the funds.

The APC, in a statement yesterday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, slammed the labour leaders for alleged complicity.

The opposition described Fayose as “callous” for his alleged refusal to use the  funds to pay salaries, pensions and severance allowances like his counterparts in other states.

The APC said Ekiti labour leaders were hobnobbing with the governor in an “unholy alliance to protect the governor for their personal benefits”.

The party spokesperson declared that “nobody was fooled by Fayose’s payment of one month salary of eight months he is owing”.

Olatunbosun said:  “The governor’s claim that the  wage bill had doubled without promotion of workers and fresh recruitment is unacceptable.

“It is more worrisome that whenever labour leaders chose to talk on the welfare of Ekiti workers, they always defend the governor who has pauperised the workers.

“Fayose has fixed N5.3 billion of this money in Skye Bank so that he can benefit from the interest. The balance of N3.5 billion is in the JAC Account.

“Fayose only spent the state’s monthly allocation, which has accumulated for many months, to pay one month  salary while giving the impression that he paid the salary from the new bailout he collected.”

The party said the “latest callous conduct” was a confirmation of its view that Fayose had never been sincere and transparent in his financial dealings.

“We call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to pay more attention to Ekiti State finances and ensure that Fayose uses the new bailout to pay salaries.”

However, the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the APC of feeding the public with lies.

Its Publicity Secretary, Jackson Adebayo, in a statement, said the allegations against Fayose “have further confirmed that the APC is peopled by confused and ignorant minds who will fail any economic question”.

“We implored labour unions to ignore the party because raising issues with it is just like dancing with mad men in the market.”

PDP said the attack on the labour unions was because the unions have refused to kowtow to the APC which it accused of habouring plans to destabilise the state, adding that the opposition was frustrated by the defeat it suffered in the 2014 election.

    Youths slam Fayose over Buratai

The National Committee of Yoruba Youth (NCYY) has described as mischievous, the assertion by Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose accusing the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai, of corruption, among other allegations.

Reacting to the statement credited to the governor during his state of the nation interview on a popular television station, the group, at a news conference addressed by its President, Comrade Odeyemi Oladimeji and other officials in Lagos, described Fayose’s allegations as frivolous and mischievously concocted to distract the Army chief from his focus, which was the war against terrorism and other crimes.

It said: “We challenge Governor Fayose and others as true Yoruba sons to substantiate their allegations against the Chief of Army Staff or shut up.”

… Nigerians will resist plot to remove governor – PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has described Governor Ayo Fayose’s allegation of a plot by the party to collude with the judiciary to remove him as the “ranting of a notorious blackmailer, electoral robber, political harlot and pathological liar.”

The party accused Fayose of crying wolf where there is none, saying the governor “is on a familiar terrain to save his head with such a pre-emptive blackmail as usual even though he knows the details of the crimes he had committed and has continued to commit against the nation.”

In a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the APC slammed Fayose for accusing his predecessors, Chief Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, maintaining that there was no meeting where the duo met with their supporters and boasted that he will be removed.

While noting that Fayose was jittery and afraid of consequences of his many infractions on the law, Olatunbosun said Fayemi and Oni are “too decent and busy” in their assignments to engage in such frivolous boasts that Fayose is accusing them of.

The APC spokesperson added that the track records of the two ex-governors as democrats and “Omoluabi” are there for all to see as opposed to Fayose’s hit-and-run and “bolekaja” reputation.

Olatunbosun said Fayose was afraid of his own shadow as a “lawless misfit in the position of authority who has no respect for the supreme law of the country after his serial rapes on the Constitution but who is now jittery and as a result, has resorted to blackmail.”

While clarifying that no case has been filed in the Supreme Court, the APC said no amount of blackmail can stop a party that is aggrieved from approaching the apex court to have a second look at the Ekiti election dispute after revelations from Capt. Sagir Koli’s audio tape, report by army panel and confessions of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) henchmen who allegedly participated in the poll crime.

He said: “The same Segun Oni he went to visit at his country home with funfare recently is the same man Fayose is now accusing of plotting to remove him from office, which shows clearly that he is confused and suffering from hysteria.

“Fayemi and Oni would rather busy themselves with the development of Ekiti instead of making Fayose, who has caused much embarrassment to himself and Ekiti people, their topic.”

Meanwhile, PDP in Ekiti State has condemned an alleged plot by the APC to remove Fayose from power through the judiciary.

The party said the alleged plot to oust Fayose would trigger “a crisis of monumental proportion that would be difficult for the Nigerian Army to curtail” if it is eventually carried out.

In a chat with reporters in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, state PDP Chairman, Gboyega Oguntuase, warned the alleged plot could lead to the collapse of the APC-led Federal Government if eventually executed.

Oguntuase defended Fayose’s action of writing a petition to the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, in which he raised the alarm, noting that it behoves on the nation’s top judge to prevent the judiciary from being manipulated.

He said it was wrong to believe that Fayose was playing to the gallery by raising alarm in his letter to the CJN, saying the action was to alert Nigerians that “democracy is in danger.”

  • Sheriff is an agent in PDP, says Fayose

Sheriff is an agent in PDP, says Fayose

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose yesterday described the factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as an agent in the opposition party.

He said the former governor of Borno State has been working with external forces to divide and destabilise the party.

Fayose told reporters in Lagos that efforts to forge unity in the fold have been truncated by Sheriff, who he likened his case to a woman in a romantic affair with another man other than her husband.

He said a peace meeting hosted by Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo to resolve the protracted leadership crisis failed to restore peace because Sheriff was indifferent.

Fayose said: “Sheriff is an agent. When a lady’s  heart is with another man, there is no magic the husband can perform.”

The governor spoke on the state of the nation, particularly the killings in Southern Kaduna, saying that they were despicable.

He said his heart melted, following reports about the inhumanity of man to man, lamenting that no one has been arrested and brought to book for the violence.

Fayose said it was worrisome that people were lined up to be killed and residents were displaced from towns and villages.

The governor lamented that what happened in the past were being repeated, pointing out that human rights abuses and desecration of the ballot box have continued unabated.

Fayose vowed to intensify his criticism of the Buhari government, saying that he took up the patriotic assignment in the national interest.

He said: “Threats of incarceration and death would not deter me from fighting the cause of justice. If I die, life has been kind to me. But, I will not die a coward.”

Urging Nigerians to desist from the culture of silence, Fayose added: “There is the need for us to stand up for something in the society.”

The governor chided the Federal Government for a doubtful empowerment scheme marred by hypocritical implementation.

He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to fulfil its promise of change in the last 18 months.

Fayose also said the victory of soldiers over the terrorists in Sambisa forest should be viewed with suspicion and reservation. He said it is easy to manufacture flags and bring the holy book from anywhere and camouflage them as the property of the Boko Haram sect.

Presidency faults Fayose on N5000 stipend

The Presidency yesterday faulted  claims by Governor Ayo Fayose on the disbursement of N5,000 stipend to the poor.

The governor, whose state was listed as part of the nine states where payments were reported to have begun, said it had not started.

Fayose said the report was untrue and diversionary.

Speaking with State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the administration was built on integrity and accountability and would not lie.

He said: “It was announced specifically from the office of the Vice President that the scheme had started in nine states. And then a certain governor said it is not true.

“It is just a matter of who you believe. This is a government that is built on integrity and accountability. This government will not lie to Nigerians, does not lie to Nigerians; in fact, anything you hear from this government you can take it to the bank, believe it.

“So if anybody comes and says it is politics, it is not true. Choose who to believe I can tell you that you should believe this government because this government will not lie to you.”

Presidency faults Fayose on N5,000 stipend for poor Nigerians

The Presidency on Wednesday disagreed with the claim of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, on the disbursement of N5, 000 to poor Nigerians.

The governor, whose state was listed as part of the nine states where the payments had commenced, denied the take off the scheme in his state.

The governor said the report was untrue and diversionary.

But speaking with State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, said the administration is built on integrity and accountability and will not claim to do what it is not doing.

He said: “It was announced specifically from the office of the Vice President that the scheme has started in nine states. And then a certain governor came out to say it is not true.

“It is just a matter of who do you believe. This is a government that is built on integrity and accountability. This government will not lie to Nigerians, does not lie to Nigerians, in fact anything you hear from this government you can take it to the bank, believe it.

  • Labour hails Fayose

    Labour hails Fayose

Organised labour in Ekiti State has risen in defence of Governor Ayo Fayose.
The labour unions praised Fayose for according priority attention to the welfare of workers.
Speaking in Ikogosi-Ekiti at a three-day retreat for the leadership of public sector organised labour, State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Raymond Adesanmi said Fayose is not doing badly in terms of the welfare of workers.
Adesanmi asserted that the governor deserved commendations because of the recent approval for the promotion of 15,722 workers covering years 2013 and 2014.
The NLC boss said Fayose had shown maturity by giving room for dialogue with labour leaders on all labour-related matters.
He urged the governor to look into the payment of gratuity and pension to retirees.
Head of Service Dr. Olugbenga Faseluka said the approval for the promotion is being effected as 7,824 local government staff and 7,898 workers in the core Civil Service, Teaching Service and Hospitals Management Board are to benefit from the promotion.

  • Fayose fantasia

Hardball has struck bull’s eye here even if he says so himself. There cannot be a better description of Governor Ayo Fayose’s running farcical theatre than fantasia. This phenomenon is defined as an unstructured orchestral composition or any unstructured work at that. And as we all know, the second time governor of Ekiti State has made an art of no structure. In fact anything structured seems like an anathema to him.

His recent outing or ‘work’ if you like corroborates Hardball’s assertion. We speak about the recent publication of his prophetic predictions for 2017. In a two-page unstructured splash in a national newspaper (December 23rd), the unstructured governor presented his unstructured predictions for the new year side by side the fulminations for 2016.

What an unstructured mind! It will serve us to reproduce the preamble here to make the point about fantasia:

“Fellow Nigerians, remember I predicted 20 things that will be experienced this year 2016. Almost 90 percent of what the Holy Spirit led me to predict came to pass.

“The Holy Spirit has once again led me to tell Nigerians what may happen in 2017. We, therefore, need prayer to avert further calamities in Nigeria.”

The thing with people like Fayose is that they get carried away by the position they occupy through opportunistic shenanigans; and they spend the entire tenure desecrating their high office unbeknownst to them. If only Fayose knows his limits, he would have handed his banality to a media aide or any schooled person around him to edit. But the embarrassingly illiterate script signed by a governor was published with all the warts and scabs; the lousy grammar and disjointed sentences. If Ekiti was not the land of some of the most read people in Nigeria!

Of course, everything is wrong with Fayose and nearly everything he does; same for this publication. First, he wears a red skull cap in the manner of bishops over a black T-shirt and he tells us that the “Holy Spirit led me to predict…”

Is there nobody in Fayose’s household or his exco who could have told him to leave the Holy Spirit out of this folly? If he is so ignorant about these things as he apparently is, couldn’t someone whisper to him that you don’t trifle with divine matters of this nature? He could jolly well have predicted his “calamities” sans the Holy Spirit!

And to the so-called predictions – these are just baby-babble. These are mere issues in the news in the past few months and any smart pupil who is up to date with his current affairs would guess the direction these issues would head in the New Year.

For instance, these are some of the so-called predictions: * “About four ministers will be removed.”  * “There will be boost in agriculture.” *”Haliburton (sic) gate may still be revisited.” And so on.

We understand that Governor Fayose is in the opposition and he needs to act up occasionally, but he can do without so much farce and fantasia.

Fayose approves severance package for ex-council chiefs, councillors

Ekiti State Government on Monday approved the payment N140m severance package to ex- public office holders in the state.

However, the approval covers only those at the local government level.

The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, disclosed these in a statement in Ado Ekiti.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries of the severance are those elected into office in 1999, 2006 and 2008‎.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries included former chairmen of local governments, council secretaries, councilors and council advisers.

He said the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, gave the order for the immediate payment of the severance package to the affected officers during a meeting he held with them on Monday.

Adelusi quoted the governor as saying families of those already dead must also be paid the entitlements of their loved ones.

He also warned local government officials that would effect the payment not to play politics with the exercise, saying anyone caught would face the consequences.

“The governor felt that despite the economic challenges we are facing as a state, we feel it is our duty to honour those who had served our state in the past.

“They had contributed their own quota to the development of our state; therefore, families of those that are already dead should be paid too.

“The ‎exercise has nothing to do with politics and must be fairly shared.

“We already made some payments some months ago and we are again doing this now.”

  • Protect your people like Fayose, Adeboye charges governors

Protect your people like Fayose, Adeboye charges governors

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has admonished state governors in the country to emulate their Ekiti State counterpart, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, in standing up for and protecting the interest of their people.

He stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday at the Palace of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.

The renowned cleric, who paid a courtesy call on the monarch before attending a crusade at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, described Fayose as a great defender of his people and their cause.

Adeboye also commended Fayose for taking great risks to defend and protect the interests of his people.

“Your Excellency, we thank God for your life, courage, boldness and being willing to take the risk so that your people can be protected and I know you know what I am talking about. You can be sure that we are praying for you and you will succeed. I hope other governors will stand for their people like you and defend their people and say enough is enough,” Adeboye said.

Adeboye, who prayed for the restoration of the lost glory of Ekiti, also commended Oba Adejugbe for leading his people in the way of the Lord.

Earlier, Governor Fayose said Nigerians appreciate the efforts of Adeboye at taking the gospel round the world.

“We know that it is at this time of the year that you go round and we pray that God strengthens you. Your visit is annually and when a man of God passes by, we want to take that advantage for him  to bless us. We appreciate your efforts at taking the gospel round the world,” he said.

Oba Adejugbe also described Adeboye’s visit as a blessing to the palace, and the people of the state in general.

Pastor Adeboye held a revival at the stadium and later visited Ilawe and Ogotun-Ekiti.
