    Suspected robbers raid church in Ondo

    People suspected to be robbers at the weekend raided a Pentecostal church at Itanla area along Ondo/Akure highway in Ondo town.

    They reportedly carted away cash and other valuable materials estimated at several thousands of naira.

    The Living Faith Church (a.k.a winners’ chapel) was said to have been ransacked by the suspected robbers who invaded the church in a Toyota Prado Jeep at about 2.00 am.

    The bandits who were said to be five in numbers were said to have shot sporadically into the air shortly after arriving at the church premises and locked up all the security men in a room before they went straight to the computer room of a Nursery and Primary school owned by the church.

    One of the security men said they were on duty when the suspected robbers suddenly drove into the church premises and started shooting sporadically to the air.

    He said the hoodlums disposed them their of their guns and handsets

    Normalcy had however returned to the area, while religion activities had picked up in the church.

    The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph, said he had not been briefed on the matter, promising to contact the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Bolorunduro for briefing.

    Ondo Police arrest suspected bag snatchers

    The Ondo State Police command on Monday said it has arrested a three-man robbery gang for allegedly snatching a bag containing N254,000 from a 50 year-old woman, Mrs. Comfort Ojo at Oka area in Ondo West local government area of the state.

    The suspects were identified as Alloy Ifeanyi, 25; Femi Lekan, 23; Ojo Bola, 20 and Elijah Afolabi, 26.

    The group, who were alleged to have used a motorcycle to commit the crime was said to have snatched Ojo’s bag when she was returning home from party.

    She was said to have reported the robbery case to the Enuowa Police Division in Ondo state.

    The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident said the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Chief Superintendent Police (CSP) Waare Samuel was able to arrest Alloy at his hideout.

    He said through interrogation, Alloy confessed that four of them participated in the crime. “He led our men to where his gang members were hiding and we were able to arrest others.

    “They have all confirmed to the crime and very soon, we shall charge them to court,” Joseph said.
