    Fintiri appoints DG for Adamawa poverty agency, constitutes boards for others

    Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the appointment of Michael Zira as the Director General of the State Poverty Alleviation And Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA). 

    He has also appointed members of boards for many other agencies and institutions of the State.

    A statement from Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, announced the agencies and instititions which now have reconstituted boards as:  Adamawa State Mass Education Board, Adamawa State Broadcasting Corporation; Adamawa State HIV/AIDs Control Agency and Adamawa State Press Limited.

    The others include the Agency for Museums and Monuments, State Specialist Hospital Yola, Agricultural Mechanisation Authority, State Arts Council, Investment and Property Development Company, and State Mining Company Limited.

    The others include the state Sports Council, Water Board, Road Maintenance Agency, the state Television Corporation, Transport Company, Scholarship Trust Fund, Traditional Medicine Board, Urban Planning Development Authority, Library Board, Bureau of Statistics, Contributory Health Insurance Agency, Hotels and Tourism Board, Bureau for Public Procurement, and College for Legal Studies.

    The other institutions and agencies of Adamawa State for which Fintiri has approved new boards are State Polytechnic Yola, Agency for Community and Social Development, School of Health Technology, College of Agric Ganye, School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Education Hong; Emergency Managemeny Agency,  State & Local Government Audit Commission, Rural Water Supply & Environment Sanitation, and Environmental Protection Agency.

    The release from the press secretary said  the Governor asked the new appointees to add value to the administration by bringing their experiences to bear on their jobs.

    Fintiri reiterates need for tolerance

    Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has reiterated call for religious tolerance among all religious and ethnic groups in the country.

    Fintiri also called for obedience to laws aimed at achieving orderliness in the society.

    He urged the Muslim Ummah to put the fear of Allah in all their dealings and prayed that Allah will use the Ramadan period to stop the violence and untoward events in some parts of the country.

    The governor stressed that this period of abstinence calls for behavioural change.

    Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation to Almighty Allah who has counted all those alive worthy to participate in another Ramadan fasting, and prayed for a successful Ramadan period.

    “When a Muslim observes fasting, he becomes compassionate about his fellow beings,” he said, adding that apart from Ramadan being a period of abstinence, it should also be a period of moderation and shunning of those things that are unlawful.

    “Ramadan has multiple benefits such as education and elimination of lack of knowledge, and each time people listen to sermons and messages during Ramadan, their horizon is widened and could be used to solve many of society’s problems,” the governor said.

    Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state has reiterated call for religious tolerance among all religious and ethnic groups in the country.

    In a Ramadan message issued on Monday, March 11, by his chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri also called for obedience to laws aimed at achieving orderliness in the society.

    As Muslims across the World commence the 2024 Ramadan fast, Governor Fintiri urged the Muslim Ummah to put the fear of Allah in all their dealings and prayed that Allah will use the Ramadan period to stop the violence and untoward events in some parts of the country.

    The governor stressed that this period of abstinence calls for behavioural change.

    Fintiri swears in 13 perm secs as Adamawa’s new CP assumes office

    Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has inaugurated 13 newly appointed permanent secretaries and one sole administrator for the Gere Bakari Development Area.

    The swearing-in ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 14, at the Government House in Yola.

    It took place around the same time that the state’s newly appointed police commissioner was assuming office at the police headquarters in Yola.

    He had earlier in the month announced the appointment of the new permanent secretaries after they passed an examination conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON).

    Fintiri, who was represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, urged the new permanent secretaries to pursue the interest of the state.

    The new permanent secretaries include Mundi Musa Ibrahim, Adama Maman, Dogara Musa, Fibian  Wambai, Abubakar Umar Maiha, Oliver Gani, and Zira Bubanani.

    Others are Kwaji Duguri, Ruth Hurum, Makalan Akila, Tanimu Buba, Heidi Edgar Amos and Mohammad Amin Suleiman

    Mahmud Saeed was inaugurated sole administrator of the Gere Bakari Development Area, one of 50 development areas of the state.

    In Jimeta, Yola, CP Dancombo Fallings officially took over from his predecessor Afolabi Babalola, who is now an assistant inspector general of police.

    The new CP pledged to emphasize community policing as a modern approach to effective security.

    In his takeover speech, the new state police commissioner said part of his action plan would be to deal firmly with all acts of criminalities, including kidnapping, the menace of Shila Boys, cattle rustling, and armed robbery.

    He said: “Much emphasis will be placed on community policing and community engagement of stakeholders. This will be done in tandem with international best practices.”

    Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has pledged his administration’s commitment to greater benefits of governance, including functional public education system, among other things.

    The governor who was addressing Adamawa people for the first time after his Supreme Court victory on Wednesday, said now is time for his government and people of goodwill to concentrate in delivering development to the people.

    Fintiri said the judgment is a tonic to spur him and his deputy, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, to do more for the state.

    “As a government, we are humbled by the fact that the best way to pay back is to serve you well,” he said, explaining, “By serving you well, I mean a renewed dedication to our ongoing policy of free education through functional public school system and payment of WAEC and NECO for our children; provision of healthcare and health insurance that makes it easier for the vulnerable to access quality service with ease.”

    He similarly pledged “continuity in the provision of urban and rural infrastructure; continuity of policies that empower our women and youths; continuous onslaught against the nefarious urban miscreants known as the Shila boys; continuity in a system that confers on you pride, dignity and self- respect as brethren of Adamawa State.”

    The governor appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “for standing firm as an unbiased electoral umpire in the election”; as well as the judiciary which he said gave judgment that resonated with the people.

    He called on all Adamawa people with the overall interest of the state at heart to join him in delivering good governance.

    In a direct reference to the court judgment affirming his election as governor, Fintiri said the verdict is a tonic to spur him and his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, to do more for the state.

    S/Court verdict: Fintiri, deputy woo opposition

    After securing a victory in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, January 31, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, along with his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, have called upon opposition parties to collaborate in advancing the state’s development agenda.

    Eaelier in the day, the Supreme Court had dismissed the appeal by the state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the  election of last year, Aishatu Dahiru (Binani) as lacking in merit.

    Justice John Okoro, who read the lead judgement of the five-member Supreme Court panel, held that the act of the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari in declaring Binani winner of that election was an act of irresponsibility and criminality as he was not the returning officer.

    In their respective reactions on separate ocassions after the Wednesday verdict of the Supreme Court, Governor Fintiri and his deputy appreciated the judiciary for ensuring justice.

    Fintiri, who addressed journalists in Abuja, thanked the people of Adamawa state who stood for him from tribunal to the latest and final  judgment.

    Fintiri said the judgment had spurred him to do more for the state and urged opposition leaders and all other citizens of the state to join him.

    On her part, the deputy governor, Kaletapwa Farauta, who spoke to newsmen at her office in Yola, asked all Adamawa people to focus now on how the state can grow even more strongly than it does now.

    She said: “The Supreme Court has brought things to rest. It is time for ernest governance. This state is ours. We call on all citizens, including all who contested with us,  to let’s put our heads together with government to bring development to our people. We are one big family.”

    BREAKING: Supreme Court affirms Fintiri as Adamawa Gov, dismisses Binani’s appeal

    The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Adamawa Governor. 

    In a judgment a moment ago, a five-member panel of the apex court unanimously dismissed the appeal by Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in the state.

    In the lead judgment, Justice John Okoro, who presided over the panel, held that the declaration of Dahiru winner of the election by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) was unlawful and a nullity.

    Justice Okoro further held that it was the Returning Officer of any election that is empowered by the Electoral Act to announce the results of an election and that any other person, who assumes that rules, acts illegally .

    He also held that the appellants (Dahiru and the APC) failed to provide credible evidence to show that their claim of non-compliance with the relevant laws and that he won the election with majority of lawful votes cast during the election.

    Gov Fintiri raises concern over fake Twitter handle

    Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has disowned a cloned X (Twitter) handle disseminating unverified information in his name.

    Fintiri, who expressed concern over the existence of the fake X (Twitter) handle, @AhamduFintiri, described it as a deceptive ploy to misinform the public.

    “My attention has been drawn to a fake X (Twitter) handle @AhamduFintiri created by unscrupulous persons to misinform unsuspecting members of the public,” Governor Fintiri said in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

    The governor clarified that his only authentic X (Twitter) handle is @GovernorAUF, and cautioned the public against engaging with any other accounts claiming to be his.

    “This action is irresponsible and a calculated attempt to disseminate inaccurate and tainted information to unsuspecting members of the public,” the governor stressed.

    The governor appealed to Adamawa citizens to be cautious and discerning, emphasising the need to verify information before accepting it as true

    BREAKING: Supreme Court reserves judgment on Binani’s suit against Fintiri

    The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Aisha Dahiru, popularly called Binani, against Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

    The five-member panel led by John Okoro adjourned the matter for judgment after listening to the arguments of the parties involved in the matter.

    The tribunal and Court of Appeal had dismissed Binani’s petition challenging the victory of Finitiri in the governorship election held last year.
