With the aim of showcasing the different ways its brand can be enjoyed, Baileys is putting together a baking competition featuring Nigerian celebrities and budding bakers come Sunday, June 26.
Set to take place at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, A-List celebrities, Funke Akindele, Waje, Alex Ekubo and Mai Atafo were recently unveiled as half of the teams of two competing in the ‘Baileys Bakefest’.
The other half of the teams, according to the organisers, comprises upcoming bakers selected on social media.
The four pairs were finally made public with Funke Akindele and Olusegun Adeyemi making up the first pair. Oluwayemisi Ariyo and Waje were the next pair to be announced while Tolu Samaiye and Alex Ekubo followed. Fimisade Osiyemi and Mai Atafo completed the fourth pair.
“This is only a tip of the iceberg” Baileys Brand Manager, Ufuoma Udjoh said. “Our aim is to demonstrate how indulgence can be enjoyed in more ways than one. The Bakefest is going to titillate your taste buds and leave you craving more”, she added.
The Baileys Bakefest is aimed at showcasing the different ways Baileys can be used in delicious treats such as cakes and cocktails.
According to Udjoh, it also seeks to spread the warmth and pleasure the brand stands for while suggesting the need to seize the day and be unafraid to live in the moment.

Encomiums as Funke Akindele, hubby premiere ‘Industreet’
It was a gathering of music and movie buffs as Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, held the screening of the pilot episode of Industreet drama Series at IMAX Cinema Lekki on Friday, May 19.
Among those who graced the event were Joke Silva, Rita Dominic, Toke Makinwa, Ice Prince, Kayswitch, Kate Henshaw, Adunni Adewale, Moet Abebe, Ariyike Akinbobola, Mr and Mrs Gbadamosi of Amen Estate, Tosin Martins, Layole Oyatogun, Sam Onyemelukwe (MD Trace) ,the cast and signees of SOO Records; Gen Stones, Mo Eazy, Sonorous Martins Feelz and other prominent personalities.
At the end of the screening which lasted 45 minutes, JJC Skillz, who wrote and directed the TV drama, was full of gratitude to his wife, whom he said God used to make the dream a reality. His wife, Funke Akindele-Bello, who produced Industreet for Scene One Production, also showered encomiums on the cast and the crew of the production.
She further revealed that Industreet TV series will be available exclusively to www.sceneone.tv from May 26.The series is also expected to air on TV stations soon.

Funke Akindele, hubby set for new musical drama
The marriage of award-winning actress and producer, Funke Akindele to notable music artiste Abdul Rasheed Bello, aka JJC Skillz has recorded another creative swell; a music-oriented television drama called ‘Industreet’.
Created & directed by JJC Skillz and produced by Funke Akindele, ‘Industreet’, according to the crew, is set to be the premier television drama series rocking the airwaves with its line-up of amazing actors and musicians entangled in its plots full of intricate twists and turns.

Funke Akindele, hubby launch record label
As part of events to mark his 40th birthday, AbdulRasheed Bello who is popularly known as JJC Skillz, and his wife, Funke Akindele-Bello, have launched a record label, SOP Records.
Already, some artistes – Mo Eazy, Gemstones, Sonorous and Martinfeelz – have been signed to SOP Records which is owned by the couple, and have performed the soundtrack of a new TV series, Industreet, produced by Funke Akindele-Bello.
GemStones are female twins – Awa- Agwu Uzoma Ruby and Awa- Agwu Olanma Pearl – who sing Afro RnB. After graduating in 2015, they auditioned for the MTN Project Fame Music Competition, season 8.0 and were both selected to be in the Reality TV show, with Pearl coming out First Runner Up and working with Yemi Alade and Chidinma to release songs, Whatever you Do and Kedike remix, respectively. Pearl went on to release her own single, KURO in 2016.
Mo Eazy whose real name is Moses Agboola was born in Kano but moved to UK where he honed his music skills in the church. Mo Eazy who has a hit single, Red Carpet, has performed with industry heavyweights in UK and Nigeria and has received several awards and nominations.
Martinsfeelz (Olawale Ayoeji Martins) and Sonorous (Omokanye Olasunkanmi Muhammed) both hail from Ilorin, Kwara State. And while Martinsfeelz, a Microbiology student at University of Ilorin, raps, Sonorous got his major after recording his first single, Iyamileko, in 2013 which is a fusion of Afro, Fuji and pop. -

Trevor Noah beats Funke Akindele, others to Nickelodeon awards
The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, last weekend, emerged the Favourite African Star at the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The South African comedian defeated fellow African nominees; Funke Akindele, Yemi Alade, Lupita Nyong’O, Pearl Thusi and Wayde Van Niekerk in that category.
Recorded in front of a live audience on Saturday, March 11, the 2017 KCA was hosted by WWE star, John Cena.
During the show, musical duo Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello took the KCA stage to perform their platinum-selling number-one single, Bad Things against the backdrop of a lighting and projection spectacle.
International music sensation Little Mix performed a medley of their hit singles, Touch andShout Out to My Ex, right before taking home the award for Favourite Global Music Star.

I don’t have a life, says Funke Akindele as ‘Jenifa’ wins Best TV Series
Hours before the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), a picture of ‘Jenifa’, the alter ego of actress Funke Akindele-Bello, looking studious and another picture of a dictionary, side by side, was posted on the actress’ Instagram page. It was captioned ‘#Jenifa is trying to write an acceptance speech for the #amvca2017 today. Let’s hope she wins o!! #bestactressincomedy#besttvseries #jenifasdiary #allthebest.’
Later at the Eko Hotel, venue of the AMVCA, the dream of the actress who made a runaway success with the Jenifa brand came true as she won both awards – Best actress in a Comedy movie/TV Series and Best TV Series, courtesy of Jenifa. It was the third time she won the award in that category.
Looking glam in her shimmering dress and with her rapper husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello (JJC) beside her, Funke thanked her fans in her acceptance speech.
“Thank you so much. Good evening everybody. I’m so happy tonight. I feel so privileged, loved, appreciated. It’s not easy to put Jenifa’s Diary together. I don’t actually have a life. Thank God I married this man. Because if not, I sleep, eat and write, act and produce Jenifa’s Diary. I dedicate this to God, the giver of all talents, my parents, my husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, my siblings, the cast and crew of Jenifa’s Diary, the director, everybody. In fact, all the Jenifans, she said”
Of course, she completed the stage with Jenifa’s comedic mannerisms, blowing kisses in the way only Jenifa does.

BBNaija: Funke Akindele-Bello seeks support for Bisola
Actress, Funke Akindele-Bello took to social media on Tuesday to gather votes for Bisola, one of the five housemates nominated for possible eviction next Sunday.
She showed her support by tweeting, “#bisola stays in the house!! Pls (Please) vote for her!!! Thanks.’’
Akindele-Bello made the appeal to enthusiasts and fans of the ongoing Big Brother Naija Reality (BBNaija) show.
She had earlier canvassed votes for Efe before the last eviction where she tweeted, “hmmmm na wah o!!! Why will CocoIce nominate Efe. #Efe is going nowhere. Please vote for him to stay o.’’
However, mixed reactions trailed her campaign for Efe as some applauded her while others thought it was not fair to others.
