National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has alleged that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) administration in Kano State was behind the various protests against him in Abuja.

But the State Government has denied the allegation.

Ganduje, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Civil Society and Support Groups, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, said the Kano State Government has been hiring people from the streets, mostly Kwankwasiyya Movement members, some of whom are from the North Central geo-political zone, to protest and demand his resignation.

The statement reads: “We are privy to credible information that Governor Abba Yusuf is working with some persons from the North Central zone and has doled out huge sum of money to some persons to sustain campaign against the Ganduje’s led working committee in his desperate but fruitless mission to remove Ganduje as the National Chairman of the APC.

“They have now resorted to using some persons in the North Central geo-political zone to demand Ganduje’s removal after they failed woefully to achieve their satanic agenda in Kano State.

“What is of concern to us is the wastage of state resources badly in need in Kano State for the provision of basic amenities to our people. This is politics taken too far.

“Some of the hired protesters also forgot that they were dressed in Kwankwasiyya T-shirts and caps during the protest to the APC National Secretariat, yet claimed to be members of the APC; what a dangerous move to scuttle peace of our party.”

Ganduje called on security agents to be vigilant to ensure security of lives and property.

In a petition he filed before the appeal panel through his lawyers, Chief Oke said the primary election was a nullity having been organised, superintended, and supervised by Ganduje against a valid, binding, and subsisting order of Kano State High Court.

He said the primary election was not conducted as prescribed by law and the APC Constitution and Nomination Guidelines,

Oke said there was the absence of a validated membership register as well as a failure to deploy electoral personnel to the venues prescribed for each ward and each Local Government.

According to his petition, “Election not conducted, yet results generated and allocated by Returning officers camped in Hotel in Akure. The results declared were not the product of any election.

Kano govt behind my ‘Africa Magic’ suspension, Ganduje alleges

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr Abdullahi Ganduje has said no amount of sponsored impostors and illegal suspension can distract him from making the governing party the first choice for electorates

He noted that he was not moved by the recent purported suspension allegedly orchestrated by the Governor Abba Yusuf- led administration in Kano State.

Ganduje spoke on Tuesday at the National Secretariat of the party when the Forum of APC State Chairmen paid a solidarity visit and passed a vote of confidence on him.

According to him, the leadership of the party remained focused despite the needless distractions.

“We were so astonished when we heard the news (of his suspension) but we were not surprised when we discovered that the great threat that APC overwhelmingly poses to other parties is real and Kano State is not an exception.

“The government in Kano State is behind this drama. Even the drama is one kind of drama that is called Africa Magic. This is Africa Magic and it is not leading democracy anywhere.

“It is a negative innovation where members who belong to a different political party, not even our members, let alone being elected executive members of either the ward or to the highest level at the state, meeting themselves and taking resolutions that affect the nation as far as our party is concerned, that is not acceptable.

“Our party cannot be distracted, we assure you. Our attention cannot be diverted. We are focused. We know where we are heading to. We know our objectives and we know to achieve our objectives”.

Passing a vote of confidence on the National Chairman, the acting chairman of the Forum of APC State Chairmen, Hon Cornelius Ojelabi, said they were at the party’s National Secretariat to affirm confidence in him.

The Lagos APC chair said: “We are here to let you know that you are the captain of the ship. We are here to let you know that these are also your foot soldiers in the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and FCT.

“We are here to show our solidarity and sincere commitment to appreciate what members of the nwc have been doing in standing by you by giving you total support. We feel it is important that the act of that solidarity should not be left to the National Working Committee NWC alone.

“Today, we bring the solidarity of the 36 states and the FCT to tell the public that we are solidly behind you. You have started a journey of growing our party, restructuring it, growing it and we are pretty sure that you are in course. You keep briefing us on the steps you are taking.

“For any person or group who are not even in our party to think they can come and derail us, it won’t work”.

Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party also expressed support for the National Chairman.

The National Vice Chairman (South South), Hon. Victor Giadem passed their votes of confidence on Ganduje.

    • We’re not bothered by sponsored agents’ activities, says party

A Kano State High Court yesterday ruled that former Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, remains the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court order came on the heels of numerous suspensions that party leaders in Ganduje’s ward in Kano State slammed against him.

The state High Court, presided over by Justice Usman Mallam Na’Abba, who had earlier affirmed the suspension of Dr. Ganduje as APC national chairman, reversed itself and vacated the same order.

Some APC members in Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State had earlier announced the suspension of Dr. Ganduje.

The Legal Adviser to an APC faction in the ward, Malam Haladu Gwanjo, announced Ganduje’s purported suspension.

Gwanjo, who cited alleged corruption and other vices as the reasons for the suspension, said the decision was taken by nine executive members of the party in the ward.

Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma, who also claimed to be the Chairman and Secretary of the APC in Ganduje Ward, had gone to court and obtained an order affirming the suspension.

But Justice Usman Na’Abba said he vacated his earlier order upon reading a motion ex parte with a 27-paragraph affidavit in support and a written address, dated April 22 sworn to by a litigation secretary in the fourth respondent’s solicitors law firm, Glory Adah.

“An order of interim injunction is hereby granted staying the execution of the order of interim injunction contained in the ruling of this court delivered on April 17, 2024, directing parties to maintain status quo ante as at April 15, 2024 in relation to the suspension of the fourth respondent/applicant from the first respondent by the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee pending the hearing and determination of the 4th respondent/applicant Motion on Notice,” the judge said.

Justice Na’Abba adjourned the matter till April 30 for hearing.

Also, the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the public to ignore the purported suspension of the national chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

The secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Kano that the supposed suspension of Ganduje by any group of individuals was null and void.

He said the suspension, which was announced on Sunday by a faction of the party, came from non-members of the party.

“It is impracticable for non-members to slam a national officer with suspension without recourse to laid down procedures as enshrined in the party’s constitution.

“I must make it clear, that we are undeterred by the activities of these impostors bec ause.

Their style lacks finesse and sophistication and has further exposed their political naivety where Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is an acclaimed master.

“From available records, those behind the latest oddity are political jobbers who have offered themselves for pecuniary benefits at behest of dignity,” Sarina alleged.

According to him, they don’t belong to progressive because a good thing party member will not work towards destroying a legitimate member who was governor for 8 years and rose to become a national chairman.

“It is because they are outsiders, they are simply not aware of the internal workings, or ground rules of the APC on disciplinary actions, hence they resort to poor strategy that cannot stand logic, and reasons.

“We from ward, local government level and state are solidly behind our leader who has contribute positively towards the political growth of our party,” he told NAN.

Sarina alleged that leader of the group who announced the purported Ganduje’s suspension was a member of New Nigeria People’s Party who contested but lost the counselorship election in Ganduje ward.

He advised the media to be cautious of those who seek to use their platforms to promote falsehood.

“The media should, as a matter of fact, scrutinise issues that are of paramount to the growth of democracy by being the driver of democracy,” he said.
