APC to anti-Ganduje ‘ward exco’: You’re all impostors

Ganduje Ward Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano state has described as impostors, some elements who on Sunday announced the “suspension” of the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The party in a statement on Sunday issued to newsmen in Abuja noted that after a failed attempt to suspend the APC national chairman, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government in Kano state has organized yet another bunch of non-APC members who announced the purported suspension.

The statement jointly signed by the ward chairman and secretary, Ahmed Muhammed Ganduje and Usaini Jibrin, maintained that as authentic executive members, no new election was conducted by the state or national body of the APC to herald a fresh leadership.

“To the best of our knowledge, as executive members of Ganduje ward of the APC, there was no new election of new leadership of our party. We remain the same executive of the ward,” the statement added.

The party said the sponsored group could not do their homework properly by using a fake or uncertified headed paper on which they drew a list of non existing party executives.

“To worsen their situation, leader of the group who announced the purported suspension is an NNPP member who contested but lost the councilorship election in Ganduje ward”, the statement said.

The executive members therefore called on the national leadership of the party and security agencies to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of the group for impersonation.

They also called on party members to disregard such propaganda aimed at disrupting the peace of the party.

JUST IN: Another APC ward faction suspends Ganduje

Another faction of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganduje Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, on Sunday announced the suspension of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, its national chairman, from the party.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Malam Haladu Gwanjo, the Legal Adviser of another APC faction in Ganduje Ward, last week announced the suspension of Ganduje.

Gwanjo, who cited alleged corruption and other vices as reasons for the suspension, said that the decision was taken by nine executive members of party in Ganduje ward.

Also, another faction, represented by the Ward Chairman, Malam Ahmad Ganduje, came out to declare support for Ganduje, saying the ward officials were satisfied with his leadership style.

In passing the vote of confidence on Ganduje, factional ward chairman urged all party members in the ward and across the state to remain calm and law abiding.

However, in a new twist in the early hours of Sunday, another group, which claimed to be the legitimate exco, yet again announced the suspension of Ganduje.

Addressing newsmen secretary of the faction, Malam Ja’afar Ganduje, who spoke on behalf of 11 other executive members, hinged the suspension on alleged anti-party activities by Ganduje.

He said this was particularly during the last general election.

He also alleged that the APC national chairman had failed to pay his statutory dues to the party.

He further blamed Ganduje for contributing to the factionalisation of the party at the ward level, which he said had brought the party to disrepute.

“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and we have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed a new suspension on Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for series of reasons.

“First, we have suspended Dr. Ganduje’s membership for creating internal conflict among party members at the ward level.

“Another major reason why the authentic executives resolved to suspend Ganduje is the issue of anti-party activities he generated during the 2023 elections which resulted to the party’s failure in the state,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary in Kano State, Ahmad Aruwa, has denied accusing the presidency of fuelling the crisis against the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

The APC state spokesman, who was quoted in a video clip that went viral, on social media, pointing accusing fingers at some elements in the presidency igniting the confusion that led to the purported suspension of Ganduje, insisted on Friday that he was quoted out of context.

He said he has firm loyalty to the President Bola Ahmed-led Federal Government which accounted for the overwhelming support the president received in Kano during the last general election.

Aruwa made the clarification while reacting to media reports that quoted him accusing the presidency of sabotaging Dr. Ganduje on his purported suspension of his membership.

He maintained that those trying to reconstruct his comment on the persecution of Ganduje were the enemies of the party who had invested resources to destroy the mutual relationship between the president and the former governor of Kano.

He said: “I have no intention to and will not constitute any act that will damage the loyalty and mutual respect that exists between the National Chairman of the party, Dr Ganduje and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Dr. Ganduje remains the only strong pillar and dependable defender who can guarantee the future political success of President Tinubu’s political success in Kano.

“We have high respect for our president and leader of our party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and he remains our choice of leader in Kano.

“We have demonstrated our commitment to the political ambition of President Tinubu in the last general election and we are ready to do more in subsequent elections.

“We equally want to declare that our leader and national Chairman of our great party Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is committed and remains loyal to the president regardless of whatever anybody may want to orchestrate. No amount of plot will divide the mutual relationship between the president and Ganduje.”

Meanwhile, a coalition of 45 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the auspices of Justice for All (JA) has given the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) a 72-hour ultimatum to commence an investigation into the eight-year tenure of the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The group said it has discovered that the immediate past government in Kano State led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje failed to investigate the Kwankwaso government, while the current government also have no plans to do so.

In a petition to the anti-graft body signed by Auwalu Ibrahim and Dr. Dave Ogbole as Chairman and Co-Chairman respectively, the group said the investigation has become necessary to ensure that the resources of the state are recovered in the interest of the people.

APC asks police to arrest impostors who suspended Ganduje

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the police to investigate and apprehend nine persons behind the controversial suspension of its National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje  for “impersonation and  dissemination of false information.”

The  request is contained in a two-page letter  by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana. The letter dated 17 April,  2024 is  titled “Petition for investigation and apprehension of Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and eight  others for impersonation and false statement.”

The others are Muhde Weti, Danmala Gale, Samaila Haladu, Laminu   Barguma, Musa Lado,  Lado Maishayi, Amadu Maishayi and Umar Amarwa

In the letter, APC  alleged that Jemomi  and the others, falsely claimed to be  its  executive members   in  Ganduje Ward,  Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The petition to the Police   reads: “Specifically, on April 15, 2024, Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and his accomplices, claiming to be party executives of the APC from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Kano State, falsely issued a press statement suspending our National Chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, from the party. This unauthorised and misleading statement has created significant confusion and unrest among our members and the public at large.

“Such impersonation and dissemination of false information are not only illegal but also have the potential to disrupt public peace and order.

“Therefore, I request the Nigerian Police Force to promptly investigate this matter and apprehend Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and his accomplices involved in this fraudulent act.

“Additionally, I request the police to identify and investigate sponsors or conspirators associated with this incident beyond those explicitly named in this petition.

“I trust in the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to upholding justice and ensuring that incidents of impersonation and false claims are decisively addressed to prevent future occurrences.”

Kana had after two contradictory court  rulings  on  Ganduje’s  suspension   on Wednesday told  reporters that  the  nine persons who suspended Ganduje   were unknown to the party.

He also  said the ruling party had  dragged Justice Usman Na’Abba of the Kano High Court   to the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Chief Justice of  Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwola for granting the ex parte order suspending Ganduje.

This was after a Federal High Court(FHC) in Kano halted    the execution  of the  APC national chairman’s suspension.

The ruling  by the FHC   was  made available to reporters yesterday.

Justice  A.M Liman directed  that Ganduje’s   suspension should not be implemented until the determination of case.

Liman  consequently fixed April 30 to hear  the  suit  by Ganduje  marked FHC/KN/CS/122/2024.

The respondents in the application are the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  and nine persons described   by the APC  as non-card carrying members.

NNPP: leave us out of your travails

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has    asked   Ganduje to stop dragging its name  into “his travails”.

It also dismissed the purported suspension of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf by a faction of the party.

NNPP National Chairman Dr. Ahmed Ajuji told reporters in Abuja that Ganduje was merely using  the party’s name  to  distract attention from his ordeals.

He said “It  has come to our notice that the suspended National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday(Wednesday) claimed that his  suspension and criminal case were engineered by our national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“We must state categorically that our leaders have nothing to do with claims and that Alhaji Ganduje should face his self-inflicted travails and not use the NNPP and its leaders as distractions from the fact.

“I also state here for record purpose that  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a bonafide member of our great party  and a worthy Ambassador of the NNPP whose leadership   is a thing of pride to us, and as such we have no reason to suspend him. In essence, the NNPP did not suspend our governor.”

In Kano yesterday,  the Non-Indigenous People Forum   condemned   Ganduje’s suspension.

It said the suspension  was  an attempt to tarnish the image of the former Kano  State governor.

The  forum’s co-Convener , Seyi Olorunsola, made this known in a statement titled ‘Standing in Solidarity with Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.’

Olorunsola said: “In recent times, Dr. Ganduje has found himself ensnared in a maelstrom of political machinations orchestrated by remote agents aligned with the ruling party in the state, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).

“Under the guise of APC membership, these elements have embarked on a reckless campaign of calumny aimed at undermining the credibility and integrity of Dr. Ganduje, a stalwart leader whose unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy and good governance is beyond reproach.

“The purported suspension of Dr. Ganduje from the APC by a so-called ward leadership stands as nothing short of a farcical spectacle, a feeble attempt to besmirch the reputation of a leader whose dedication to the principles of the APC remains unblemished.”

Kano APC: Court stops enforcement of Ganduje’s suspension

A Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice A. M. Liman, on Thursday, April 18, issued an order restraining all parties involved in the suspension of the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, from enforcing the suspension.

The court specifically prohibited Haladu Gwanjo and eight others from implementing the purported decision made during the alleged emergency meeting of the supposed executive members of the APC Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa local government, which took place on April 15.

Recall that the High Court in Kano, presided by Justice Usman Na’abba, had on Wednesday granted an ex parte order restraining the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, from parading himself as a member of the party.

Na’abba’s order followed an ex parte motion filed by Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members of Ganduje’s ward, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, the Assistant Secretary, Laminu Sani, and legal adviser, Haladu Gwanjo (plaintiffs), who were part of the nine ward executives that suspended Ganduje on Monday.

However, Dr. Ganduje, through his legal team, in Suit No. FHC/KN/CS/122/2024, had approached the Federal High Court for the enforcement of his fundamental right to a fair hearing.

The order issued by the court presided over by Justice A. M. Liman, becomes effective from April 17, pending the hearing in a substantive suit in the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the APC National Chairman as subsumed under Section 46 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The case is fixed for April 30 for hearing.

The 14 respondents in the case include Haladu Gwanjo, Na Lami Mai AC, Muhammadu Baiti, Danmalam Gale, Musa Lado and Laminu Sani Barguma, Umar Sanda, Auwal Galadima and Abubakar Dauda.

Other respondents are the Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police Kano Command, Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.

A Federal High Court in Kano has granted an order restraining the implementation of the purported suspension of the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje by the Ward executive of Ganduje Ward.

Ganduje in Suit No. FHC/KN/CS/122/2024 approached the Federal High Court for the enforcement of his fundamental right to a fair hearing.

The respondents in the application are the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and nine other individuals.

Ganduje ward executive last Tuesday purportedly suspended Ganduje over alleged corruption.

Subsequently, the State Working Committee of the APC in Kano nullified the suspension and punished the ward executives.

In the ex parte order delivered on Wednesday by the Federal High Court and made available to newsmen on Thursday, A.M Liman, a judge of the Federal High Court in Kano said the purported suspension should not be implemented until the case is heard and determined.

Liman said: “That all the Respondents, their servants, agents or privies are hereby restrained from Implementing and/or giving effect to the purported decision reached during the purported emergency meeting of the alleged Executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, held at Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa Local.

“That all the parties are hereby mandated to maintain status quo before the purported emergency meeting of the alleged executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, and to stay action in respect of this matter pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.”

All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday described as unenforceable, a Kano State High Court   ex parte order affirming the purported  suspension of  its  National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi   Ganduje, by  some members  of his  ward leadership .

The ruling party , through its National Working Committee (NWC), boasted  that  it would not obey the order because it was obtained with a “fraudulent document.”

It consequently  dragged  Justice Usman Na’Abba  to the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Chief Justice of  Nigeria(CJN) Olukayode Ariwola for granting the order.

Ganduje, who was seen in viral video that surfaced yesterday after the order was issued,   boasted that he remained “unshakeable.”

He claimed that his  suspension by nine officials  of Gaduje Ward in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area  and  the ongoing attacks on his person   by   the  New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) were designed  to  scuttle  President Bola Tinubu’s  second term.

The   order restraining  the former governor  from further parading himself as   APC national chairman.

followed  an ex parte motion  by Ibrahim Sa’ad counsel for  Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, two of  ward of the nine ward officials that carried out  Ganduje’s  suspension.

APC   National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKarim Kana,  told reporters that the court lacked  jurisdiction to hear a matter by   Gwanjo and   Sani, who, according to him, are   non- card carrying members of the party.

He said “The court has no jurisdiction on the issue. The persons who appeared before it are impersonators. One of the so -called defendants is even here with us in Abuja. The court has gone too far on this issue.

“We heard   that they went  to court to obtain an unlawful order which cannot be enforced. It was obtained by fraud. The individuals who obtained the order are not APC members. We don’t know them.

Party  drags Justice Na’Abba to NJC, CJN

The party, in a  four -page petition to the NJC and  CJN   accused   Justice Na’Abba of  overstepping  his bounds by dabbling into its affairs.

It contended in the petition that Na’Abba’s  intervention  in its internal affairs without clear and compelling reasons   constituted judicial overreach.

The petition was signed by Mallam Ahmed Muhammad and 26 other members of the executive committee members of the Ganduje Ward.

It reads  in part: “The core of this petition revolves around the principle that the judiciary should not intervene in the internal affairs of a political Party without clear evidence that the Party’s internal mechanisms, as outlined in its constitution, have been exhausted. The APC’s constitution provides specific procedures for handling disputes and disciplinary actions within the party.

Article 21.1(i) provides for the right to a fair hearing about the discipline of members of the Party.

“The complaint was never served on   Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and no invitation was issued to him to attend the purported disciplinary proceedings against him.

“The unilateral judicial intervention by Hon. Justice Usman Maiiam Na‘abba preempts these internal processes and mechanisms, potentially overstepping judicial boundaries.”

The party  demanded the conduct of a thorough review of the circumstances and justification behind the   order  against Ganduje and the APC.

APC also demanded an evaluation of the adherence to judicial guidelines and the 1999 Constitution in the context of non-interference in political party affairs.

The party further wants  an assessment of potential disciplinary measures if it is found that Justice Na’abba acted beyond his jurisdiction or displayed conduct unbecoming of a judicial officer.”

…plot to remove me, a target at Tinubu’s second term

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the ex parte order affirming the suspension of the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by a Kano State High Court is unenforceable.

The party claimed that a “fraudulent document” was used to obtain the order, insisting it would not obey it.

Ganduje also alleged that the ongoing attacks on him by the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are to undermine the prospects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027

On Wednesday, a Kano State High Court in an ex- parte order affirmed the suspension of Ganduje from the party by the ward executive committee. The order also restrained him from further parading himself as the National Chairman of APC.

The order was granted following an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani by their counsel Ibrahim Sa’ad.

But APC national legal adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana told newsmen at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja that the Kano High Court lacks the jurisdiction to hear a matter from non-card-carrying members of the APC on the affairs of the party.

Kana argued that those who sought the ex-parte motion before Justice Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of APC Ganduje ward in Dawakin-Tofa local government area of Kano state were not only impostors but fake persons unknown to the party.

“The court has no jurisdiction on the issue. The persons who appeared before him were frauds and impersonators. One of the so-called defendants is even here with us in Abuja. The Court has gone too far on this issue.

“We heard this afternoon that they have gone to court to obtain an unlawful order which cannot be enforced. It was obtained by fraud. The individuals who obtained the order are not APC members. We don’t know them.”

Faulting the order, the party frowned at the trial judge, accusing him of granting the order without hearing from the party and Ganduje who are the respondents in the case.

Asked if the party would seek another order of the court when served the Kano judgment Kana maintained: “If it is an order obtained by fraud and any lawyer will tell you any order obtained by fraud is a nullity ab initio

Plot to remove me, a target at Tinubu’s second term

Receiving ward and local government executive officers of the party on a solidarity visit in his office on Wednesday, Ganduje accused the ruling NNPP in the state of masterminding all the attacks on him, describing it as a prelude to a grand plan to whittle down the electoral fortunes of the APC in Kano State in 2027.

The two-term former governor of Kano state who commended Ganduje ward executive for dissociating themselves from the purported plot to unseat him as APC national chairman, berated the desperation of the NNPP to score cheap political goals by engaging impostors to prosecute their case against him.

He said: “What is happening is that it is an incursion into our political party by the NNPP government of Kano to destroy our party. They are so concerned that in their first year in office, they have seen their failures right from the destruction of the economy of Kano state to increased political violence and also the destruction of political morality in Kano state.

“We are battle-ready to take over their government. They are concerned that Kano produces the highest votes. They are so concerned that we will repeat the same feat for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu again. We will ensure that in 2027, no vacancy for any presidential candidate from Kano and from other parts of Nigeria will win that election.

“They are out to create confusion in our party so that we will not have the courage to take over our government in Kano state. They want to ensure Tinubu does not have the intimidating votes he used to have from Kano state. We will tell them their intentions will fail, that it is impossible, that it is a falsehood.

“I am assuring the President that our party in Kano is solid, it is battle-ready to keep the votes for president very high, even the highest in Nigeria.

“We have written to the IGP, the DG DSS who are handling the case because we have their pictures, and names, and we know their political leanings. Some of them were captured even wearing Kwankwasjyya caps. They were so daft and insensitive that they couldn’t camouflage properly.”

He said: “Yesterday, I met with the president and I explained to him and he said he is also thankful for what you did. What was done is shambolic. He said you should be patient enough. This seat they are looking up to still stands unshakeable.

“Tell Kano State Government that the seat of National Chairman of APC in Nigeria is on Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. We are here unshakable.”
