    Telecommunications giant Globacom has launched another recharge-and-reward campaign named ‘Jollof’ Promo. According to a statement, Globacom said the campaign blends entertainment with meaningful rewards, giving customers the chance to win big every time they recharge or subscribe.

    The statement added that customers will earn Jollof Points with every recharge, opening the door to fun games, instant prizes, data bonuses, and even life-changing cash rewards. At the top of the prize list is a fully completed bungalow in Ikeja GRA, one of Lagos’ most sought after neighborhoods.

    “The Jollof Promo is a special offer to show appreciation to our customers, with thousands of exciting prizes worth hundreds of millions of Naira up for grabs.     Glo to power Imo digital drive with landmark deal

    Globacom has signed a landmark Internet connectivity agreement with the Imo State Government through its Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Governance. The partnership is a key step in the State’s plan to build a digital economy, implement e-governance, and establish a Smart City in Owerri.

    Described as the largest single fixed Internet connectivity project in Globacom’s Enterprise Business Group history, the deal highlights the company’s role in delivering advanced telecommunications infrastructure and digital solutions across Nigeria.

    Under the agreement, Globacom will provide high-capacity Internet connectivity to critical locations. These include the Smart City project in Owerri, home to 15 mega buildings, the Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Governance, and the Imo State University for Innovation, Science and Technology, formerly Imo State Polytechnic.

    The Glo 1 submarine cable, which links Nigeria directly to Europe through Globacom’s privately owned fibre optic network, will form the backbone of the project. It provides high bandwidth, minimal latency, and secure connections, supporting the State’s digital transformation and improving public service delivery.

    Excitement filled the air in Lagos on Wednesday  as four lucky Nigerians were announced as the first set of millionaires in Globacom’s “Play Up” lottery, an exciting  game that blends fun, anticipation, and the chance to win life-changing rewards.

    At the prize presentation ceremony, the winners, drawn from different parts of the country, each received N1 million for their winning entries in the first draw of the lottery.

    Among them was Engineer Edward Worgu, 48, from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, who said the win indeed came at a better time. “Initially, I didn’t believe it,” he explained. “But after speaking with a very persistent Glo customer care representative, I made the journey to the Lagos regional office. It’s a very timely surprise that I least expected. My wife is currently hospitalized, so this will go a long way in paying for her treatment. Kudos to Glo.”

    For Mr. Akindele Ayenugba, 68, from Ondo State, the experience was nothing short of miraculous. “I came all the way from Ondo State despite monetary constraints. I also wasn’t convinced at first, but on arrival at the Glo office, everyone started congratulating me. That is when it dawned on me that it was real. Indeed, God is great,” he affirmed.

    From Owerri, Imo State, Esobe Ugwuogo, 39, said his persistence finally paid off. “I’ve been playing for a while now, so when I got the call I was very happy. Thank you, Globacom, for igniting so much joy within me. I’ll also spread the word about this million-naira win and all the other reward opportunities for subscribers. Glo really keeps to its word.”

    Also celebrating was Akintayo Boluwatife, 28, from Ibadan, Oyo State, who described the win as “life-changing and unforgettable.” He thanked Globacom for the generous gesture, noting that it would help him celebrate the approaching festive season.

    The Glo Play Up Lottery allows subscribers to turn small predictions into million-naira wins. Participants simply choose a number between 1 and 9 for a chance to win big by dialling *400# or texting their chosen number to 400. Each entry costs N100, and players can either subscribe daily or play on demand.

    Weekly draws take place every Friday at 4 p.m. at the Glo Head Office, where winners of N1 million emerge. In addition, one lucky subscriber will walk away with the grand prize of N10 million each month. All verified winners are hosted at their nearest Glo regional office, with cash prizes credited directly to their MoneyMaster Wallet accounts.

    Globacom reinforced its position as a major supporter of Nigerian culture with a superlative showing at the 2025 Ofala Festival in Onitsha, culminating in a spectacular presentation of prize to winners in the Ofala promo.

     The telecom giant, which has sponsored the festival for 14 years, added an exciting layer to the traditional celebration through the promo.

     The festival, held at the Ime Obi, Onitsha, had two major ceremonies, the Iru Ofala on Friday and the Azu Ofala on Saturday, marking a time-honoured tradition for the people of Onitsha.

     The Iru Ofala saw the Obi of Onitsha making his first public appearance after a period of spiritual retreat, a significant and symbolic moment representing his readiness to usher in a new year of prosperity for his people. The Imperial Majesty, resplendent in his traditional attire, received homage from chiefs, titled men, and subjects.

    The event drew high-profile guests, including the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Kalu; former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi; Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Obi Asika, and several others.

     The prizes, which were presented to winners selected from the four-week-long promo, included a brand new Kia Picanto, two tricycles (Keke), power generating sets, and grinding machines.

     Chidinma Esther Obi, a businesswoman from the 33 area of Onitsha, was the winner of the grand prize—the Kia Picanto. She received the car keys from Onitsha royal chief, Chief Albert Ibekwe (the Odu Osodi), and Globacom’s representative, Tochukwu Okechukwu.

    Glo Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Globacom, at the weekend hosted hundreds of school girls across the country to a symbolic walk and movie outing in commemoration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child.

     In Lagos, as many as 100 girls selected from five secondary schools were received at Globacom’s head office, Mike Adenuga Towers, Victoria Island, where they held an interactive session with senior female executives of the company.

     The participating schools are Vivian Fowler Memorial College, Oregun, Ikeja; Queens College, Sabo Yaba; Herbert Macaulay Girls Senior High School, Yaba; Kuramo Senior College, Victoria Island; and Victoria Island Secondary School.

     Welcoming the girls, Globacom’s Director of Strategy and Board Affairs, Mrs Mojisola Ashieru Sweet, advised them to be proud of who they are and remain confident in their abilities to succeed.

    Globacom’s Head of Human Resources, Mrs Jumoke Aduwo, also urged the pupils to develop strong character and determination as they pursue their goals.

     The objective of the session was to encourage the pupils to aspire to excellence in their chosen academic and professional fields.

    The girls took a symbolic walk from the head office to the company’s Customer Care and Information Systems departments, where they were introduced to some aspects of Globacom’s telecommunications operations.

    They were afterwards treated to a movie session at Silverbird Cinemas, where they watched the Nollywood film, “The Serpent’s Gift”, featuring Linda Ejiofor and popular radio presenter and actor, Chico Aligwejwe.

     In Abuja, girls from Al-Noor Academy, Wuse, and Redeemers Private School participated in a similar event at the Glo office and Silverbird Cinema, Jabi Lake Mall.

     The same activities were replicated in Kaduna, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Benin City, where selected girls were hosted at Glo offices and later treated to the same movie.

     At the end of the sessions, the pupils discussed lessons learnt from the movie, an exercise designed to boost their confidence and public speaking skills.

    Telecommunications giant, Globacom, has thrown its weight behind Nigeria’s digital development efforts at the ongoing Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC’s) business roundtable on Broadband Investment and Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure.

    The roundtable  began  on Wednesday at the NCC Headquarters in Abuja with the theme “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity” featuring  stakeholders from federal and state governments, the private sector, telecom operators, and regulatory bodies.

    Industry pundits said the roundtable is a veritable forum for synchronising public and private sector interests in the bid to achieve Nigeria’s broadband targets, improving policy coordination, and closing existing digital gaps — especially in underserved and rural communities. In the same vein, the gathering will advance practical strategies for expanding Nigeria’s broadband footprint and strengthening infrastructure security across the country.

    In a press release issued about the event, Globacom explained that its sponsorship and active participation were in tandem with its continued commitment to fostering a viable digital future for Nigeria. 

    Globacom is providing logistical and technical backing for the success of the two-day event in  demonstration of  its commitment to undertaking a connected, inclusive, and secure digital ecosystem.

    The company’s involvement also offers a strategic platform to influence policy direction, particularly around Right of Way (RoW) issues, infrastructure investment incentives, and long-term regulatory frameworks that affect broadband expansion. “By contributing to these discussions, we seek to accelerate nationwide deployment of high-speed internet while ensuring robust safeguards for critical communication assets,” Globacom disclosed.
