“In the same vein, some players have to make way based on unproductivity. The Technical Adviser has submitted to the Management Board a list of players recommended to be dropped.”

“I am staying with Gombe United for another season. Both of us have agreed to work together for another season and it was a very easy decision to make for me and my family despite the fact that I had many offers from notable clubs.

“Given our previous record at home, I don’t think there is much doubt about our ability to beat Sunshine Stars at the Pantami Stadium. However, we do not just want to win, but we want to win well to enhance our goal difference,” he said.

“We are aware that there isn’t too much separating us and the top teams on the league table, but our goal difference has been a problem. We have been on the same points with about three or four teams lately and the better goal difference is just as good as an extra point.

“We haven’t beaten teams like we want, and have to start winning well if we want to finish higher up the table. Sunshine Stars are a strong side any day, but we are also considering our position and will be going all out for goals against them.”

“We know Sharks lost the nucleus of their team last season and are not finding things easy,” he said.

We have followed their situation with keen interest in the days leading to this match, and I can confidently say we will beat them by as many as three goals or more.

“Even when they had a good team we beat them 5-0 last season, though they equally beat us 5-2 in Port Harcourt. I normally enjoy clashes between the two sides, and we really intend to pummel them this time,” he boasted.

We also lost our regular strikers (Mustapha) Babadidi and (Sanusi) Sani, though Bishop Onyeudo who joined from Rangers is doing well; he got both our goals against Sunshine Stars,” he said.

“We scored first in Akure and led 1-0 at half time, but lost concentration in the second half to concede two goals in four minutes. However, I was impressed with our performance and feel we are gradually getting there,” he reasoned.
