GOtv to beam top of the drawer Liverpool, Forest tie

The Premier League title race intensifies as league leaders Liverpool face third-place Nottingham Forest at the City Ground tonight.

Liverpool will have an eye on revenge having suffered their only league defeat of the season to Forest —a narrow 1-0 loss at Anfield back in September.  The match will be broadcast live on GOtv channel 65 at 9 pm.

Forest, managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, are punching above their weight this season. After finishing 17th last season with just 32 points, they’ve already amassed an impressive 40 points from 20 matches this season.

In his press conference,  Liverpool manager,  Arne Slot,  said Forest will be a difficult game. “They’ve shown how good they are in retrospect. That loss was hard for me to take. Looking at where they are now, that result is not as shocking as it was. They have a playing style that suits their players. They are a very hardworking team. They have players who can hold the ball and fast-paced players that can hurt on the counterattack. It will be a difficult game for us,” he said.

The 197th  North London Derby will take centre stage tomorrow  when under pressure Arsenal welcome their fiercest rivals,  Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates Stadium.

After an embarrassing Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Newcastle and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United on penalties, Mikel Arteta’s side faces mounting challenges, including injuries to key players and poor form. The Gunners must secure a win to keep alive their slim hopes of catching Liverpool.

Arsenal edged the reverse fixture 1-0 in September and have won four of their last five meetings against Spurs. Watch this thrilling derby live on GOtv Channel 65 at 9 pm.

The other matches tomorrow  will see Newcastle host Wolverhampton Wanderers; Aston Villa will be away at Everton while Leicester City tackle Crystal Palace.

Manchester United will round up week 21 fixtures when they welcome Southampton to Old Trafford on Thursday, live on GOtv channel  65 at 9 pm.

GOtv: Providing platform for original African stories to thrive

Since time immemorial, storytelling has been a cornerstone of African culture, serving as a powerful tool for answering questions, passing down history, and imparting timeless lessons. What began as oral narration to preserve culture and tradition has evolved into one of the most cherished forms of entertainment today.

The evolution of African cinema has been nothing short of remarkable. Drama series such as Riona, Ajoche, Jemeji, and Masquerades of Aniedo, alongside films like Half of a Yellow Sun, Saworoide, Sango, Jagun Jagun, and Igodo, captivate audiences not only with their compelling storylines but also with their authentic portrayal of cultural norms from different historical eras. These films and series are not only entertaining but also rich in tradition, offering a glimpse into Nigeria’s historical and cultural heritage through the art of storytelling.

In today’s interconnected world, where the exchange and preservation of cultural values have become crucial, there is a pressing need to make this type of content widely accessible. GOtv continues to champion this cause, providing a dedicated platform that brings these narratives to life and shares them with audiences worldwide.

Through channels like Africa Magic Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and Epic—complete with English subtitles to overcome language barriers—GOtv bridges the gap between local content and international audiences. By offering diverse films, series, and documentaries, GOtv allows viewers to enjoy the richness of African traditions, values, and perspectives.

Another significant factor in GOtv’s success is its extensive Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) reach, which has democratized access to quality entertainment and cultural storytelling. GOtv’s DTT infrastructure allows the service to bring local content into the homes of people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and cultural pride. By making these stories accessible to a wider audience, GOtv plays a crucial role in preserving cultural narratives and fostering a shared understanding of Africa’s heritage.

GOtv’s commitment extends to supporting the growth and recognition of African talent. Through initiatives such as the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and the MultiChoice Talent Factory, creatives gain global recognition and can hone their skills.

In September,  the Eagles defeated Benin Republic 3-0 in Uyo, followed by a goalless draw away to Rwanda. With four points from their first two matches, the Eagles sit top of the group, while the Knights are fourth with one point.  A win against the Libyans will put the Eagles in command of the group with three matches to play. Watch the encounter live on SuperSport La Liga (DStv Ch. 204 and GOtv Ch. 62), at 5pm on Friday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Libya head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, said his team will be missing key players, which puts them at a huge disadvantage against a star-studded Super Eagles. “The challenge is not in facing Nigeria which has world-class attackers like Victor Osimhen,  Boniface, Ademola Lookman, but also in influential absences in our squad which may hinder the team’s chances of achieving a positive result,” he said.
