    Matchday 12 clash between Newcastle United and Arsenal as well as other exciting matches will be broadcast live on GOtv Supa+ and GOtv Supa, as action continues across major European football leagues this weekend.

    Fresh from knocking Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup, the Magpies will be on home duty against the Gunners who lost their Carabao Cup tie against West Ham United in the midweek. Tune in SuperSport Premier League (channel  66) at 6:30pm this evening , to enjoy this encounter.

    Arsenal overcame the challenges posed by Newcastle the last time they met at St James’ Park, winning by a 0-2 scoreline. Eddie Howe, who will be without Alexander Isak and Sven Botman, will be keen to see his team stop the Gunners from recording consecutive away victories.

    Female cruiserweight boxer, Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole was adjudged  the best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 29, after defeating Celina ‘Pretty Assassin’ Agwu, to win the national cruiserweight title at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

    She thus became the first female to win the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy for the best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night and N1million cash prize attached, ending nine years of male domination of the best boxer award.

    Despite an injury to her right hand in the fourth round of the bout, Black Tito lasted the eight rounds to secure a unanimous decision victory over Pretty Assassin on Sunday.

    The explosive six-bout event also saw Tunde “Turning Star” Olojede earn a unanimous decision victory over Arabambi ‘Power’ Ojo in their national bantamweight challenge bout.

    In the national lightweight category, Azeez “Latest” Ayobami knocked out Lucky Oyibo, while Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu got victory,  via a unanimous decision, over Ganiyu “Energy” Kolawole in their national welterweight bout.

    The national super flyweight challenge bout between Yusuf “Omowest” Mohammed and Sifon “Best” Iwatt ended in a split decision in favour of “Best”, while Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke secured another victory over Ibrahim “Golden Boy” Opeyemi in their bantamweight challenge rematch via a unanimous decision.

    Organisers promise adequate security as GOtv Boxing Night holds Today

    Flykite Productions, organisers of the 29th edition of the GOtv Boxing Night, have assured fans of maximum protection ahead of the event which is set to hold today.  The event will be held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. In a statement issued on Friday, Flykite Productions said that security in and around the venue are prior­ities for the event.

    “Fans coming to the venue are assured of pro­tection. They have nothing to fear. We have made adequate arrangements with a top security agency for the day. The fans should come and enjoy the best of local boxing on Sunday,” the statement said.

    Scheduled for the night are six national bouts. The overall best boxer on the night will take home the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy and N1m cash prize.

    In the female cruiserweight category, Celina ‘Pretty Assassin’ Agwu will face Bolatito ‘Black Tito’ Oluwole in a national title bout. The national welterweight category will see Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu face Ganiyu “Energy” Kolawole, while Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke will duel with Ibrahim “Golden Boy” Opeyemi in a national bantamweight challenge bout. Azeez “Latest” Ayobami and Lucky Oyibo will also slug it out in a national lightweight challenge bout.

    Yusuf ‘Omowest’ Mohammed will battle Sifon ‘Best’ Iwatt in a national super flyweight challenge bout, while Arabambi ‘Power’ Ojo will also face Tunde ‘Turning Star’ Olojede in a national bantamweight challenge bout.

    GOtv Boxing Night 29: New opponent fixed for Turning Star

    Bantamweight boxer, Arabambi ‘Power’ Ojo has accepted the challenge to face-off within Tunde ‘Turning Star’ Olojede at GOtv Boxing Night 29.  

    Flykite Productions, organisers of the premier boxing event, said Turning Star was billed initially to fight the late Habeeb ‘Ige’ Oladeji, who died earlier this month.

    According to the statement, Power will now face Turning Star in a national bantamweight challenge bout at Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of  Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on September 24.

    “Arabambi ‘Power’ Ojo will face Tunde ‘Turning Star’ Olojede in a national bantamweight challenge bout at GOtv Boxing Night 29. The fans will find him exciting because of his explosive style,” the organisers said.

    Meanwhile, Flykite Productions had earlier announced a decision to donate 35 percent of ticket proceeds at the GOtv Boxing Night 29 to the family of the late Ige.

    Other bouts scheduled for the night include a welterweight national challenge bout between Taiwo ‘Gentle Boy’ Olowu and Ganiyu ‘Energy’ Kolawole; a national lightweight challenge clash between Azeez ‘Latest’ Ayobami and Emmanuel ‘Ability’ Abimbola; and a national female cruiserweight title bout between Celina ‘Pretty Assassin’ Agwu and Bolatito ‘Black Tito’ Oluwole. Sodiq ‘Happy Boy’ Adeleke will also face Ibrahim ‘Golden Boy’ Opeyemi, while Sifon ‘Best’ Iwatt will face Yusuf ‘Omowest’ Mohammed in a super flyweight challenge bout.

    GOtv Boxing Night 29: Adeleke eyes encore victory against Opeyemi

    Fast-rising bantamweight boxer, Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke, has boasted that he will defeat Opeyemi “Golden Boy” Ibrahim a second time when they face each other at GOtv Boxing Night 29. 

    The two boxers are scheduled to meet in one of the six bouts scheduled for the premier boxing event at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of  Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on September 24.

    Happy Boy earned a unanimous decision victory over Golden Boy in December 2023, at GOtv Boxing Night 27.

    Speaking from his training base in Lagos, Happy Boy said he  was confident of another victory over his familiar foe. 

    “I know him well. There’s nothing to fear. I know he wants to get revenge, but he will get another defeat. Maybe he thought my victory the last time was a fluke, but I will show him why the three judges gave me the match,” he said.

    Also scheduled for the night is a national female cruiserweight title bout between  Celina “Pretty Assassin” Agwu and Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole. Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu will face Ganiyu “Energy” Kolawole in a national welterweight challenge; Sifon “Best” Iwatt will battle Yusuf “Omowest” Mohammed, while Azeez “Latest” Ayobami and Emmanuel “Ability” Abimbola will duel in a national lightweight challenge bout.

    GOtv Boxing Night 29: Organisers to compensate deceased boxer’s family

    Flykite Productions, organisers of GOtv Boxing Night, have offered condolences to the family of the national bantamweight boxing champion, Habeeb “Ige” Oladeji, who died last Saturday.

    In a statement issued yesterday, the news came as a rude shock, as ‘Ige’ was billed to fight at the boxing showpiece billed for September 24.

    “We feel a deep sense of loss about this unfortunate departure of a promising talent. He was scheduled to fight at GOtv Boxing Night 29. We beseech the Almighty Allah to grant the family the fortitude to bear this painful loss,” the statement read.

    Flykite Productions also said it will donate 35 percent of ticket proceeds from GOtv Boxing Night 29 to the deceased family.

    “We have decided to provide support to the family ‘Ige’ left behind by donating 35 percent of ticket proceeds from the GOtv Boxing Night 29 to them,” the statement added.

    Ige held the national bantamweight title until his untimely demise.

    Female cruiserweight boxers, Celina Agwu ‘Pretty Assassin’ and Bolatito ‘Black Tito’ Oluwole have been trading words  ahead of their title clash scheduled for GOtv Boxing Night 29 on 24 September.

    The bout is one of the six scheduled for the boxing showpiece, billed to hold at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of  Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on September 24.

    Speaking from  her training base in Lagos, Pretty Assassin, said Black Tito will experience  the wrath of an assassin.

     “There is a reason I’m called Assassin. I will show her why.  She is about to face what she cannot handle.This fight is  ‘operation no mercy’ and he will experience the wrath of the Pretty Assassin,” the Police Officer said.

    But  Black Tito said she will show the Police Corporal that a boxing ring is not a Police station.

     “I know she’s a Police officer and that doesn’t scare me a bit. I am a knockout specialist. A boxing ring is not a Police Station. I will show her why I am called Black Tito,” she said.

    Both boxers are undefeated in their professional career. Pretty Assassin has a record of two knockout wins from her two professional fights, while Black Tito won all seven of her professional bouts, with a record of  five knockouts.

    Other bouts scheduled for the night include a welterweight national challenge between Taiwo Olowu ‘Gentle Boy’ and Ganiyu Kolawole ‘Energy’; a bantamweight fight involving Tunde Olojede ‘Turning Star’ and Habeeb Oladeji ‘Ige’, and a national lightweight challenge clash between Azeez Ayobami ‘Latest’ and Emmanuel Abimbola ‘Ability’.

    Sodiq Adeleke ‘Happy Boy’ will also trade punches with Ibrahim Opeyemi ‘Golden Boy’, while Sifon Iwatt ‘Best’, will face Yusuf Mohammed ‘Omowest’ in a super flyweight category clash.

    Premier boxing show, GOtv Boxing Night, will make a return on 24 September, the organisers have announced.

    Flykite Productions disclosed yesterday that the 29th edition of the Boxing show, licensed by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), will be held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos and feature six fights, including a national female cruiserweight title bout between Celina “Pretty Assassin” Agwu and Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole.

    The welterweight division will see a national challenge bout between the very tough Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu and veteran Ganiyu “Energy” Kolawole. In the bantamweight category, Tunde “Turning Star” Olojede would square up to Habeeb “Ige” Oladeji, while Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke takes on Ibrahim “Golden Boy” Opeyemi.

    The super flyweight category will feature a clash between Sifon “Best” Iwatt and Yusuf Olalekan “Omowest” Mohammed, while Azeez “Latest” Ayobami and Emmanuel “Ability” Abimbola duel in a national lightweight challenge bout.
