At a briefing held at the Sterling Bank Headquarters in Lagos, Qoray unveiled its bold ambition: a clear declaration that electric mobility is not just viable but essential for a sustainable tomorrow.

“This is bigger than a record attempt; this is a revolution,” Managing Director of Qoray Mobilities, Olabanjo Alimi, said.

“It’s about breaking barriers and proving that Africa can lead the charge in global sustainability efforts. We’re demonstrating that electric vehicles are not just concepts – they are the future, thriving under real-world conditions and solving last-mile transportation challenges across industries.”

Qoray has already blazed trails with its first-ever solar-powered electric vehicle battery swap stations in Kano State last year.

This record attempt takes the movement further, spotlighting the locally assembled Qoray Teak electric three-wheeler, a game-changer in Nigeria’s journey toward sustainable transportation.

“The Qoray Teak isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a statement of resilience, ingenuity, and ambition,” Alimi continued.

“This attempt proves that Africa is not a spectator in the global race for sustainability. We are players, innovators, and leaders – equipped to solve our unique challenges through local expertise and unrelenting determination.”

Group Head of Mobility at Sterling Bank, Akin Akingbogun, added: “This isn’t just about distance; it’s about redefining what’s possible. As the countdown to this historic event begins, Alimi issued a rallying cry: “This is not just Qoray’s journey – it’s Nigeria’s journey. Together, we can redefine transportation, reduce our carbon footprint, and create a legacy of sustainability for future generations.”

The record attempt, powered by partnerships with Startimes Solar, Torrista, Imperium, and Made By Nigeria, highlights the importance of collaboration between private organizations, financial institutions, and policymakers. This united front is the key to accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices and addressing barriers like infrastructure, financing models, and consumer awareness.

This bold attempt serves as a beacon of possibility for Nigeria and Africa, proving that local innovation can compete and thrive on a global scale. It fosters conversations around clean energy, economic empowerment, and what it means to build a sustainable future, starting right here in Nigeria.

“This isn’t just a moment; it’s a movement,” Akingbogun added. “We’re ensuring that the next generation inherits not just a cleaner planet but also the confidence to dream bigger and achieve more.
