Bayern confirm talks to extend Kane’s contract

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed the club are in talks to extend Harry Kane’s deal at the club.

The 32-year-old England forward, who joined Bayern in 2023, has a deal until 2027.

“We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking,” Eberl said at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt.

“Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made,” he added.

Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said on Monday: “Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich.

“He and his family are settled in. Therefore we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush.”

Long without a team trophy, Kane broke his drought in 2025 when Bayern won the Bundesliga.

This campaign, Bayern are eight points clear in the league and sit second in the 36-team Champions League table.

Speaking in October, Kane said he could “definitely imagine” extending his stay in Germany.

Kane has scored 119 goals in 126 games for Bayern, while adding 30 assists.

This campaign, Kane has 34 goals in 30 games. With 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches, Kane is on track to break the single season league record of 41 goals set by Robert Lewandowski in 2020-21.

Kane reveals secret for sensational scoring form

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane revealed a hidden motivation behind his brilliant season with the German giants – a schnitzel for every goal he scores.

After chalking up the best opening half of a campaign in Bundesliga history, Kane’s Bayern host Bavarian rivals Augsburg today.

With just one loss in 29 games, Bayern have their sights set on a historic third treble, more than any other team in Europe.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern have dropped just four points, equalling the best return at this stage of a season, and have scored a record 71 goals at an average of 3.94 per game.

They sit 11 points clear atop the Bundesliga, are through to the last 16 of in the Champions League with a match spare and are also in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.

The England captain said a local restaurant near his house in the south of Munich delivers his “favourite German dish”, schnitzel, for every goal he scores.

With 34 goals this season, 21 of which have come in the league, Kane’s goalscoring exploits have given his private chef more than a few nights off.

“It’s like a ritual,” Kane said Wednesday. “I can’t say I eat every one of them, but they get delivered and me and the family or someone staying in the house will enjoy them.”

  • KING KANE: Face-to-face with talismanic England’s Bayern striker

KING KANE: Face-to-face with talismanic England’s Bayern striker

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane says he’s “in the prime” of his career as he bids for more silverware with the Bundesliga leaders this season. In a wide-ranging interview with the Bundesliga, the 32-year-old talks about Christmas in the Kane household, the art of scoring goals, the impact of Lennart Karl on Bayern this term, and plenty more besides.

    Plans for Christmas

To be a good dad and bring the fun. I’m always busy with football in this period and we have a lot of games, so it’s hard to really do a lot with the kids. I try to just be there and have fun, and we go away for Christmas all the time. It will be a mixture of things because I have two older girls and two younger boys, so it will be a mixture of activities for sure. Ultimately, Christmas for me is about making the kids happy and seeing the smile on their faces and spending as much time as I can with them. I’m looking forward to it.

Sharing  hat-trick balls to his  kids

Not any more, no. I don’t get away with that one since I’ve been here. The kids still have them, but they’re putting more pressure on me now. I brought another Bundesliga one home recently, the Stuttgart one, and my son said he wanted the one with the stars on it, so he wants a Champions League one. There’s more pressure on me to get different types of balls now, but they still use them and they kick them around the house. They’re excited when I bring one back, but they don’t fully count as Christmas presents, so I can’t get away with that one.

    Setting scoring targets

I’d say so. During the season, I don’t get too caught up in it and I try to give myself small targets of a certain amount of goals in a small block of games. I think you know yourself when you are playing well or not, and even if you are not playing well and still scoring, you know that it’s not going to last forever and you still need to improve in moments. Sometimes you’re playing amazingly and not scoring, so you can’t get too down on it. There are highs and lows throughout any season, but this season has been consistently pretty good from a goalscoring point of view, even though there are still performances where I could’ve done better. Ultimately, it’s just about knowing where you are as a player rather than just the numbers, and that’s what I like to look at.

    Most influential  person on career

It’s hard to pick one person. I would probably go back to my youth team days and to John McDermott, who was the head of the academy back then and who is now working with the England team and the FA. He was amazing for my development at that age from 13 all the way up to the youth team. Without him in that role, I don’t know if I would be the player that I am now. As I got older, Tim Sherwood gave me my first Premier League chance and I was able to take that. He always believed in me from when he was at the reserves to when he got the main job, and he always believed I could do it at the highest level. That then takes me into Mauricio Pochettino, who developed me from there and turned me into a different type of player. He made me a lot stronger physically and made me understand what it’s like to be a Premier League player. I’ve obviously named three there, but I can name so many. I look back at my whole career and there are so many people who helped me, but those are a few that had a big impact for sure.”

    Point in football career

Good question. I’m 32 now and sometimes you get to an age where people just assume you are going to start slowing down and assume it’s coming to an end. But I feel like I’m in the prime of my career, and I just touched on the numbers I’m putting up and physically how I feel. Even if I look at the running data from this season, I’m running as much as I’ve ever run before, so it’s hard to say. I feel like I could play for many more years and I feel like I’m right in the prime of what I want to do, and hopefully that lasts for another few years. As we know in football, things can change pretty quickly, so we will see. Right now, I feel really good.

England  bid for 2026 World Cup

I think we are at that stage now where only a win is going to satisfy us and the country. We had that a little bit in the last Euros because we got to the final and there was still a lot of negative noise around us. We knew that unless we won it, that noise was going to continue and it did, and that’s part of it. We’ve been building on the success from 2018 onwards, from the semi-final of the World Cup to the final, quarter-final, and then final. We’ve been knocking on the door and we’ve consistently been one of the best teams in the world, so there is an expectation going into this tournament. We’re fourth in world rankings and people see us as one of the favourites, so we have to acknowledge that and take that into the tournament and be able to handle that pressure. We’ve had a lot of good moments in the last eight years as a national team, but ultimately, it’s about winning now. We want to win the biggest trophies and we definitely have the quality to do it, now it’s just about handling those moments. I’m looking forward to that challenge and whenever a major tournament comes around, it’s the peak of your career and the peak of the pressure and expectation and excitement that you feel. I’m excited to see how I and the team handle that.”

UCL: Kane continues fine scoring run as Bayern win again

England captain Harry Kane continued his incredible goalscoring run with two goals as Bayern Munich crushed Pafos in the Champions League.

Kane, 32, has now scored 102 goals in 105 games for the German giants following his £86.4m move from Tottenham in August 2023.

He has 17 goals in nine club matches in 2025-26, including 11 in his past five appearances, as well as one goal for England in their 5-0 thrashing of Serbia this month.

The Cypriot side were playing their first ever home game in the main phase of the Champions League but it only took the German champions 15 minutes to take the lead when Kane finished well with a first-time shot after being set up by Michael Olise.

Raphael Guerreiro doubled Bayern’s advantage five minutes later following good work from Nicolas Jackson, with the Senegal striker then grabbing his first goal for Bayern since his loan move from Chelsea after another Olise assist.

Kane made it 4-0 after only 34 minutes with a left-footed strike from six yards, although the hosts got a goal back just before half-time through Mislav Orsic’s excellent curled 20-yard effort.

But Bayern restored their four-goal advantage midway through the second half when Olise fired into the roof of the net from a tight angle to seal the convincing victory.

Bayern, two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, have now won all nine of their matches this season, scoring 35 goals in the process and have two victories from two in the Champions League.

Bundesliga: Bayern count on  Kane scoring run amid EPL return talk

Bayern Munich are hoping Harry Kane’s scoring run of eight goals in their first four Bundesliga games continues against visiting Werder Bremen tonight amid growing speculation over the England captain’s potential return to the Premier League.

The Bavarians, who travel to Cypriot side Pafos in the Champions League on Tuesday, top the Bundesliga table on a maximum 12 points.

Kane scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, in their 4-1 win over Hoffenheim last week while also becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to net 17 consecutive penalties.

Thanks largely to Kane’s scoring prowess, Bayern have netted a league record 18 times in their first four matches.

“He was always a goalscorer but I think he made a conscious decision for himself to open up his game to different things,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany told his press conference. “He’s a leader in our team and to have one of the best performing players, that’s something I am very fortunate for as a coach.”

Bayern want Kane’s focus firmly on the Werder game ahead of a tough run of matches in the Bundesliga, with a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in a week’s time and Borussia Dortmund at home to follow.

“He is in an outstanding phase and the last (thing) I want to do is open a door to a different discussion,” Kompany said when asked about reports in British media of a potential transfer through a release clause in Kane’s contract.

“He has the hunger to win titles and he can do it at Bayern and that is the focus,” said the coach.

Kane’s Bundesliga performances have ignited transfer speculation, with the 32-year-old having a reported 65 million euros ($76.35 million) release clause in his contract after moving from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur to Munich in 2023.

The Premier League club’s manager Thomas Frank said there were many Spurs supporters who would like to see Kane, whose contract with Bayern runs to 2027, return to London.

“There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself who would like to see Kane back,” Frank said this week.

“Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now, if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well. He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he’s doing fantastic now.

“But he is welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome,” Frank added.

Kane admits  England ‘not good enough’ after Senegal thrashing

Captain Harry Kane said England must improve quickly if they are to contend for next year’s World Cup after slumping to a 3-1 home friendly defeat by Senegal on Tuesday.

A first ever defeat against African opposition has put England boss Thomas Tuchel under pressure just four games into his reign.

After struggling past minnows Andorra 1-0 in World Cup qualifying on Saturday, Tuchel’s 10 changes had little effect as Senegal ran out deserved winners in Nottingham thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly.

“Not good enough. We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren’t clicking, we’re not finding the right tempo,” said Kane, who opened the scoring with his 73rd  international goal.“We’ve lost that aggressive nature that we had.”

Former Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain boss Tuchel was hired with the task of taking England one step further to major tournament glory after losing in the last two European Championship finals.

Kane believes his side is going through a transition period since Gareth Southgate’s departure after Euro 2024, but said there is little time to get things right with the World Cup now just a year away.

“We’re not going to panic but we know we need to be better,” added the Bayern Munich striker. “New ideas, there’s new players coming into the team that don’t have experience at international level. It’s a mixture of things but no excuses.

“We need to find it quick, the World Cup is going to come around really fast so every camp is really important right now.”

England are at least in pole position to qualify having won all three of their qualifiers to date against Albania, Latvia and Andorra.

Kane savours sweet taste of success at last

England striker Harry Kane said it feels sweet to finally end his career-long trophy drought on Sunday, after securing the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in his second season at the German club.

The England captain broke a league record two weeks ago with his 60th goal in his first 60 league games for Bayern, and the 31-year-old looks set to become the first player in Bundesliga history to be crowned top scorer in both his first two seasons.

“What a night last night, what a celebration with the players, with the staff. I’m sure everyone’s feeling it a little bit this morning, but we’re here,” Kane said in a video .

“I feel amazing, it’s been a long time coming, obviously a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and it just feels sweet to win the title, the first one of my career.

“I appreciate all the support, as always, it never goes unnoticed, and I can’t wait to enjoy these next couple of weeks. I can’t wait to be at the Allianz Arena on Saturday and celebrate in front of the fans.

“And then, as always, we look forward to the next one, and we go again and try and get number two.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Kane has netted over 400 goals for club and country to become England’s record scorer and sit second on the Premier League’s all-time list.

Kan U do it?: Harry Kane targets first Ballon d’Or

England captain Harry Kane sees a real chance of winning the next Ballon d’Or award for the best player in the world, but knows securing silverware with Bayern Munich would be key to fulfilling that dream.

The 31-year-old striker, England’s all-time leading goal scorer, has scored 32 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this season for Bayern, helping the German giants top the Bundesliga table and book a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

While no English player has won the Ballon d’Or since former Liverpool striker Michael Owen in 2001, Kane believes his chance of winning soccer’s top individual award has been boosted by his August 2023 move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern.

“Just being at a club like Bayern Munich has helped push me on even more, confidence-wise and responsibility-wise,” Kane told reporters before yesterday’s  FIFA World Cup European qualifier against Albania.

“I feel like I’ve definitely got better, I’ve improved, and maybe the ‘aura’ of me as a player is a bit more respected than what it has been in the past, because you’re playing in big games, big nights.

“That’s probably what I mean in terms of being respected more worldwide, on the bigger stage. For something like that, you have to win enough team trophies to be considered in that and probably score 40-odd goals, but that is a possibility this season.”

Kane said his goal-scoring feats are not always appreciated but he remains motivated as ever.

“It’s like when (Cristiano) Ronaldo and (Lionel) Messi were throwing these crazy numbers out there and the next season they’d score 40 goals instead of 50. It was like they were having a bad season,” Kane said.

“People take it for granted and maybe a little bit with England as well. I’ve scored 69 goals and when you score against Albania or Latvia, or these teams, people just expect it so it’s not spoken about so much.

“If I was 25 now and doing what I’m doing, the excitement around me would maybe be a little bit different to what it is now. That’s part of where we are with football … Maybe people just get a little bit bored of what you do, but I’m certainly not bored. I’m excited for these games and the games ahead.”

Harry Kane told to snub Arsenal transfer

Harry Kane has been told to forget about joining Arsenal if he wants to return to the Premier League and win trophies.

Speculation is mounting that Arsenal will make a move for Kane this summer, in a bid to solve their striker problem. Mikel Arteta has been criticised for not having a world class goalscorer in his team, to boost Arsenal’s chances of winning the title.

And to make matters worse he has seen Gabriel Jesus and now Kai Havertz struck down with long-term injuries. Arsenal are weighing up a move for England and Bayern Munich superstar Kane.

Kane has been a revelation with Bayern since joining them from Tottenham in an £86.4m deal in 2023. England’s record goalscorer has notched a stunning 57 goals in just 51 Bundesliga games.

But former France and Manchester United hitman Louis Saha admits he could never see Kane agreeing to join his former club’s most bitter rivals. Saha told Paddy Power: “Harry Kane is a legend at Tottenham.

“He left the country for trophies and a new challenge, and he could end up back in the Premier League.

“He may prefer the lifestyle in London. I could never see him joining Arsenal though – they are not guaranteed to win trophies, despite having great players and playing well.
