    Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre offered prayers and encouragement to celebrity chef Hilda Baci as she embarked on an attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

    The event, tagged the “Gino Jollof Festival,” features a massive pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall, with 250 bags of rice being prepared for tens of thousands of attendees.

    Over 20,000 people registered for the free festival, which aims to celebrate Nigerian cuisine on an unprecedented scale.

    This marks another milestone in her journey, following global recognition for her 100-hour cooking marathon in May 2023, which earned her a Guinness World Record.

    With her attention to detail and commitment to excellence, Baci is set to make this historic cookout a success.

    Hilda Baci to cook world’s largest jollof rice pot with 250 bags of rice

    Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has revealed that she’ll be using 250 bags of rice, weighing approximately 5,278 kilograms, to cook the largest pot of jollof rice on September 12, 2025.

    The giant pot designed for the event measures six meters in width and height, with a volume of 22,619 litres, aiming to fill it up to 80% capacity.

    To make the jollof rice, Baci, in an Instagram video, said she would need 1,583 kilograms of tomato paste, calculated based on 0.30 kilograms of paste per kilogram of rice.

    She added that she’ll also be using pepper chicken paste and jollof paste to create the most delicious Nigerian jollof rice.

    The event, scheduled to take place at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos, promises to be a grand celebration of Nigerian cuisine, music, and community spirit, with live performances planned and free attendance.

    Baci’s record-breaking attempt has generated buzz on social media, with many fans and followers expressing excitement and admiration for her culinary skills and mathematical prowess.

    “My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 per cent. That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice to achieve the yield.

    “I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags. For one kg of rice, you would need between 0.20 to 0.35, but because it’s Nigerian jollof, I’m going to use 0.30.

    “That means I will need 1,583 kilogrammes of Gino tomato paste,” she said.

    Baci added that the tomato base would be shared evenly across tomato paste, pepper chicken paste and jollof paste to make the “most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice you have ever tasted”.

    The festival will feature live performances and is open to the public for free.

    Chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci has announced plans to cook the largest pot of Jollof rice ever made.

    Scheduled to take place on September 12, 2025, the historic cooking event will feature a giant pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall.

    Baci made the announcement on Instagram, revealing that she’s collaborating with seasoning and culinary brand, Gino, to make this dream a reality.

    “Almost two years ago I had the dream to cook the largest pot of Jollof Rice ever made. And now, with ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive.

    “Six meters wide. Six meters tall. September 12, we make history together. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?” she wrote.

    According to Baci, the event is more than just a cooking feat, it’s a celebration of Nigerian food, culture, music, and community spirit.

    She described Jollof rice as “the heartbeat of West Africa”, emphasising the significance of this dish in West African cuisine.

    She said, “Some dreams keep us awake until we make them reality. In 2023, it was the Hilda baci that took the world by storm.

    “This year, it’s Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa. A taste that tells our story. It’s more than cooking. It’s a celebration of our food, our culture, music and us.

    “We’re making history again and I want you to be there when it happens. Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world has ever seen. And today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality.”

    Baci rose to international fame after her 2023 Cook-a-thon, where she broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, cooking for 87 hours and 50 minutes.

    With this upcoming event, she’s set to make history again.

    Popular chef Hilda Baci has reflected on the past year as she celebrates the first anniversary of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon.

    The Nation reported that the event took place in Lagos, where Hilda and her team of around 100 people surpassed the 100-hour mark.

    Hilda expressed gratitude to her team for their unwavering support during the marathon’s challenging moments.

    She reminisced about the event, which began on May 12 and concluded on May 17, 2023, marking a five-day celebration.

    She wrote: “On this day 1 year ago we began the official attempt that made history. At about 5 pm on the 12th of May, I turned on the gas for the very first time only to be turned off on the 17th of May 5 days later so yes we have a 5-day long anniversary and I’m here for it.

    “I could not have done it firstly without my team, the alpha team that was the first point of contact that helped my very big dream come true so naturally the first celebration point will be the Alpha team and heads of departments.

    “I mean it was such a big team of about 100 people to put the experience of the year together and I’m thankful for them every single day.”

    “Today marks a milestone of gratitude as I reflect on my incredible journey of the Hilda Baci Cookathon. How does one express gratitude to the world?

    I can only try, even though I say thank you a million times, it will never be enough!

    In November 2023, Alan Fisher, owner and chef of a Japanese restaurant, surpassed Baci’s record after cooking for 119 hours 57 minutes.

    Celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has addressed the allegation made by self-acclaimed activist, VeryDarkMan regarding her alleged deception of followers who paid substantial amounts to enroll in her culinary training programme.

    In response, Baci shared a screen recording depicting her current online cooking class, effectively refuting the activist’s claims.

    The recording showcased the enrollment of new students and the overall engagement within the online platform.

    Her caption read: “5880 active students, 156 recipes already posted, comprehensive editing class done, plating class done, an official assignment given. LOL.”

    VeryDarkMan, in a video, accused her of taking money from some students who he said were not added to the teaching class afterwards.

    In his video, he stated that such an act could be seen as “obtaining under false pretence.”

    He said: “Hilda Baci, you have worked so hard for your brand but it’s as though you’re trying to spoil the reputation of your brand. What you’re doing now is giving ‘Obtaining under false pretence’ which is fraud by the way. You can’t collect money from a lot of people for something and then not do it and you’re not even addressing it.

    “You collected money for an online cooking class which was meant to start on the 22nd. But on the 22nd you didn’t start. You posted that registration closed on the 28th of March and since then you’ve been quiet. Don’t you see all the women complaining in the comment section? This is giving fraud. You can’t collect money from people and just ghost them,” he added.
