Celebrity chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey aka Hilda Baci, has recounted how her father, Effiong Bassey Edem disowned her over the phone.

The Guinness World Record holder disclosed this in an interview on the ‘Tea with Tay’ podcast, hosted by Taymesan.

She said her father had been present in their lives since they were kids but she said that things changed when a huge argument between him and her mother had an impact on the children.

What truly cut deep for her was her father’s abrupt abandonment, particularly when she and her brother were on the brink of completing their university studies.

She couldn’t wrap her head around why he withdrew his support for their education, especially after having funded their academic journey through nursery, secondary school, and the early years of their tertiary education.

Remembering a heart-breaking moment she rang up her father to talk about her school expenses and to her surprise, he picked up and immediately asked her “Who’s your daddy?”.

Regrettably, her father never returned as opposed to her initial happy ending moment of both parents settling her rift and coming back to live as a big family.

Hilda went on to share that her father’s abandonment served as a catalyst for her to achieve a remarkable feat.

She said she spearheaded the Guinness World Record cook-a-thon, not only as a personal accomplishment but also as a way to make her father regret his actions.

Popular influencer and commercial model, Enioluwa Adeoluwa has celebrated his friendship with renowned chef, Hilda Bassey aka Hilda Baci.

He described having to share a close friendship bond with the Guinness World Record holder as enjoying a two-fold blessing.

The dating rumor was heightened when Hilda Baci, after a Sunday service, shared photos with Eniola spotting the same native attire and beaming for the camera as they struck poses.

Though, it was previously rumoured that Eni and actress Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla were dating, a social media influencer however, refuted the report in June, claiming they were simply besties.

Eni’s love for food and Hilda Baci’s well-known culinary skills makes them a ‘perfect’ combo in that regard.

Famous Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci, celebrated her birthday with a luxurious Range Rover gift from an undisclosed individual to mark the auspicious occasion. 

Celebrating her 28th birthday on Wednesday, September 20, the Guiness World Record holder took to her Instagram account to thank her fans for the kind wishes.

Excited about the car gift, Hilda Baci was seen jumping and jubilating in a viral video making rounds on social media.

You Tube has tasked popular chef Hilda Bassey aka Chef Hilda with making the perfect jollof in celebration of “Jollof Month”. 

To help her out in the kitchen, Hilda was paired with popular dancehall-reggae singer, Patoranking.

In the introductory video, Hilda said: “YouTube asked me to make the perfect jollof to celebrate the ‘Jollof Month’.

“But I won’t be doing it alone. I have an assistant. I don’t know if this my assistant will choke me for calling him that. But who cares?”

Patoranking arrived and Hilda went to the door to welcome him as they hugged. Then he asked, “Is this another cook-a-thon’.

She replied: “Yes, but this time we are doing it together.”

Hilda let Patoranking in on what they’ll be doing together as she handed him his apron, adorned hers and they got down to work.

While she explained the different brands of rice and what not, she revealed to Patoranking that they’ll be making a unusual kind of popular dish, the ‘coconut jollof rice”.

She expressed optimism that the dancehall singer would certainly fall in love with the end result of the meal.

They eventually began to cook and she ensured Patoranking was actively involved in the exercise, instructing him on what and when to put ingredients into the pot as they prepared their coconut jollof rice.

As they cooked, the duo chatted even as Patoranking cleared and washed used plates. Along the line he decided to sing a song, dedicated to him mum.

Finally the meal was ready, the coconut jollof rice with grilled turkey and fish.

Hilda dished some portion of rice for the singer who protested the quantity as being small. So she added more until the plate until it was a heap. 

Time to have the first taste, Patoranking decided to dip the spoon into Hilda’s plate, scooped some rice and fed her. She confirmed the food was delicious.

Immediately after, he helped himself to a full spoon of rice and piece of fish.

He decided to place Hilda on the edge by putting up some act when she requested for his verdict about the meal. 

He turned around as one heading for the sink to spit out the content in his mouth. Suddenly he stopped, turned the other way, facing her and declared, “The coconut is coconutting now”, to the utmost relief of the chef. 

He added: “Ladies and gentlemen, the coconut is coconutting. It’s giving me Tropicana vibes “

Hilda Baci talked about the difficulties successful women like her frequently encounter as a result of misconceptions.

She shared this during an intimate conversation with influencer and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tacha on Cool FM’s Big Friday show.

During the interview, Tacha questioned Hilda about her personal experiences with stereotypes, particularly given her status as a successful and diverse woman.

Tacha asked: “Like girls like us, we look very cute, and we’re putting in the work or making money, but most people decide to be blind towards that. Like, do you get stereotyped?”

Hilda replied by disclosing her own personal experiences with stereotypes.

She said: “Oh yes. All my life. I have been stereotyped all my life. More now. More now than before. I remember a particular award where I was like…they didn’t think that I had, you know, much to offer. I don’t know if that makes any sense.”
