BBNaija: Housemates battle to avoid eviction

As the eviction night draws closer, the housemates in the Big Brother Naija House are doing all they could to remain in the house, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Head of House, ThinTallTony had a pep talk with his fellow Housemates about being cautious in the use of household items.

A tearful, Debie-Rise and TBoss had a heart to heart talk about cliques and how disrespectful and inconsiderate some of the Housemates are.

The `task for the day saw the housemates doing all sorts of crazy things as Kemen had his face painted and Bassey licked Marvis’ fingers.

While TBoss and Debie-Rise immediately changed the conversation when Marvis arrived, Bally and Uriel thought there was no obvious weak link on Big Brother Naija and that several people might be evicted.

TBoss had accused ThinTallTont and Bisola of trying to make her a “”pawn’’ in their game.

Earlier, popular Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun known as A.Y. visited the housemates.

During his conversion with them, he encouraged them to use their participation in the game show as a platform to move to the next level.

A.Y. narrated his journey to stardom in the Nigerian entertainment industry as Personal Assistant to the King of Comedy, Ali Baba to becoming a movie producer and actor.

He also narrated the success of his first movie “30 Days in Atalanta’’, “A Trip to Jamiaca and the recently releases “’10 Days in Sun City’’.

The comedian stressed the need for the housemates to use the show as a platform to move high in the area of endeavour.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian Rhythms and Blues singer, Bankole Wallington also known as Banky W will perform live at the eviction this Sunday.

Similarly, Kentalky will be in the wheel of steels at the Saturday Night Party for the housemates. (NAN)

  • BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

BBNaija: Seven housemates on edge, three get immunity from eviction

There is palpable tension in the Big Brother Naija house after controversial housemate, ThinTallTony, secured immunity from this week’s eviction after beating other contenders in all the keenly contested Head of House tasks on Monday.

Following last Sunday’s all-inclusive nomination, eight housemates were subjected to a series of contests as parts of the routine to select a new Head of HAouse. Marvis, TBoss and ThinTallTony were the three housemates who made it to the final in the HoH contest, after scaling through a series of contests.

In the final contest, the trio was required to deflate several balloons with their bums in order to find a mystery paper that will give the mandate to the would-be HoH housemate. The only male housemate in the final contest, ThinTallTony ultimately emerged winner; thereby joining Bisola and Bally who are immune from nomination come Sunday’s eviction show. The seven housemates that will slug it out in Sunday’s eviction show are Uriel, TBoss, Marvis, Kemen, Efe, Bassey and Debbie-Rise.

Meanwhile, the eight housemates including ThinTallTony still believe that the road to winning the coveted 25 million naira and SUV has become narrower as two of the most popular housemates are supposedly out of the race.

As the new HoH assumes his throne in a triumphant manner, he is immune from eviction, but does not wield the power to save or nominate any housemate from eviction. As the BBNaija draws inexorably towards the end, more mysteries have continued to unfold and no one knows what Biggie has up his sleeve.

•As Jon, Ese make smooth exit

The tension was not too intense in this week’s supposed ejection from the Big Brother Naija show, as no particular housemates were marked for possible eviction. Even when Bally and Ese were called out by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the others housemates were hopeful about their return. “Guys you’re coming back. It’s a lie…,” said Uriel, even as others nodded their heads in agreement.
No real eviction took place because Biggie had cancelled the nominations after some housemates broke the rules by conspiring against others for nomination. It was the same positive feeling when Bisola and Jon were sent to the arena.
The twist ended with a fantastic game and holiday for two in Paradise. It happened that only the two fake housemates- Ese and Jon – were out via an easy exit that left no room for suspicion.
Recall that Bally and Bisola had immunity from their previous tasks in the house.
While Bally had discovered the green card which he held on to in the last two weeks, Bisola’s immunity came via last week’s eviction show game that had her playing alongside Bassey and TBoss. Bisola got her question correctly and was immuned from nomination. Bassey got his question correctly too, and enjoyed a traditional dish of his choice. TBoss however missed her question and had to wash the dishes for the entire week.
As Jon and Ese made their ways out of the holding room, Bisola, who had bonded well with, especially the latter, got emotional, while Bally looked confused.
For the other eight housemates, Ebuka called them to the arena for a nomination game. There were 30 envelopes on the table from which housemates were asked to pick one. They were all unlucky, and are up for possible eviction next week: Bassey, TBoss, Efe, Marvis, Debbie-Rise, Kemen,  ThinTallTony and Uriel. However, only the would-be Head of House, after tomorrow’s task will be immuned for possible eviction. Unlike before, Biggie has ruled that the Head of House’s power cannot save or replace any housemate.
While Jon and Ese joined Ebuka on stage, the host described them both as the ‘best fake housemates’ in the history of the show.
Jon said that the fact that the game looked like he was there to take over from Miyonse, who had been evicted earlier, made it difficult for him to hatch his plan against TBoss.
Blindfolded, Bally and Bisola were led to their surprised vacation abode by two ninjas. Biggie said they will be in that juicy isolation for a couple of days.
On who might win the show, he said, “I used to think it would be Efe, but now it looks like it might be ThinTallTony.”
For Ese: “I think it’s between ThinTallTony and Bisola,” she said.
Just before the mock eviction show, Nigerian songstress, Emma Chukwugoziam Obi, aka Emma Nyra sang her popular dance hall/reggae influenced song, ‘Drop It’. Her performance was followed after a short interval, by that of the earlier advertised sonorous singer, Simi, who serenaded the crowd with ‘Love Don’t Care. When she returned for her second performance, Simi took the show higher with her mid-tempo afro pop song, ‘Jamb Question’.
The next eviction show holds on Sunday, March 5. And viewers in Nigeria are expected to text the word “Vote” followed by their preferred housemate’s name to 32052. While for the rest of Africa, fans are told to follow the AfricaMagictv official account on WeChat and click on the menu option ‘BBNaija’ and select their preferred housemate. Voting will open at 21h00 WAT on Monday, February 27 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Sponsored by online retail store, PayPorte, the show is aired 24/7 in 45 countries from Nigeria through East, West and Southern Africa on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv channel 29.

  • Real ‘Gobbe’ begins among BBNaija housemates

Real ‘Gobbe’ begins among BBNaija housemates

•As five housemates are up for possible eviction

Just two weeks into the show, the slogan for this year’s edition of the ongoing Big Brother Naija show, ‘See Gobbe’, a slang connoting commotion, is coming to bear, with the housemates now engaging in serious backstabbing, gossiping, outright confrontation and some perfidious strategy meant to edge one another out of the competition.

Reality of the game soon hit the housemates who had somewhat bonded so well in the first two weeks, when Soma and Miyonse were sacked from the show during last Monday’s live eviction show.

While the ladies shed tears crying out loud, the men showed signs of depression, but all that was for some few hours. By the next morning, they had warmed up for the next set of nominations which turned out quite surprising as Bassey, Bisola, CocoIce, Debie-Rise and Gifty were announced as the housemates up for possible eviction.

With last Sunday’s eviction still fresh in their memories, the housemates have come to understand the rule of the game, as they took turns in the diary room to nominate two housemates each, whom they wanted out of the house.

First up was Bally. He delayed the use of his green advantage card and nominated Bisola and TTT. New comer Debie-Rise nominated Marvis and Bisola while Kemen nominated Bisola and TTT. Next was CocoIce, who nominated TTT and Bassey; with TBoss going with Marvis and Bassey. For Bassey’s first nomination, he picked CocoIce and Kemen while Uriel nominated CocoIce (no surprise there) and TTT. Gifty nominated Bassey and CocoIce; and Head of House (HoH) Efe went with TBoss and CocoIce. Finally, TTT nominated Debie-Rise and Gifty; and Marvis nominated CocoIce and Debie-Rise.

At the end of the nominations, ‘Biggie’ called out CocoIce, TTT, Bisola, Debie-Rise and Bassey as the housemates with the highest nominations. As expected, HoH Efe was called on to save one of the housemates and replace with another. In less than 20 seconds, Efe opted to save TTT and put up Gifty in his place.

Speaking on the show, Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria said: “The next few days will no doubt be intense as five housemates will do all it takes to secure their places in the competition”. He also added, “With as little as N1,800 you can join in on the Big Brother Naija experience which is available on all DStv packages and on GOtv Plus.”

The next eviction show holds on Sunday, February 12. Voting had opened at 21h00 WAT on Monday, February 6 and will close at 20h00 WAT on Saturday, February 11.

    BBNaija: Who goes home tonight

…As Seyi Shay performs at live eviction show

With the clock ticking towards the first real eviction of one or two Housemates in the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show, scheduled to hold this evening, there have been some uneasy feelings among the Housemates.

Last night’s party and its raunchy aftermath brought the contestants closer like never before, and some of them now wish they did not nominate the others for possible eviction.

Although Port Harcourt boy and music enthusiast, Soma, has shown little emotions about his nomination, just as TBoss’ ‘loverboy’, Miyonse, would not say much to his colleagues about what he thinks his chances might be, two times Head of House (HoH) and funny character, Efe, gave some parting words after being tipsy from last night’s party, just in case he is shown the door in tonight’s eviction. Efe would want them to see themselves as celebrities already for making it to the BBN house out of the thousands that were auditioned for the show. He said he had come to bond with every housemate so much that he forgot they were all in a game to win the N25 million prize money.

Meanwhile, when Biggie invited the trio to the Diary Room in separate chats, they were all optimistic that their fans would vote to keep them in the House.

Igwe Efe was the first Housemate summoned by Biggie, and though he admitted that he was anxious about the possibilities of going home tonight, he was also somewhat confident that he was not going to be evicted tonight.

Miyonse was called in next and he believes he had done enough to save himself from possible eviction tonight. He said he has been himself in the last two weeks and he felt that was enough to keep him in the House for atleast another week.

Soma had almost the same answer for Biggie when asked if he felt confident about his chances of avoiding eviction tonight. He would like to believe he has done enough to guarantee him a stay of eviction, but also admitted that he was a bit apprehensive about his chances of staying on in the Big Brother House.

Last night’s party which was powered by Legend Extra Stout, had DJ Waxxy treating the Housemates to a thrilling collection of old and new Nigerian songs. But that was more like a valedictory gig for whoever will be going home tonight.

For fans of the show who will be glued to their televisions for the much anticipated eviction show this evening, Nigeria’s very own Sheyi Shay will be on stage to thrill the audience with an electrifying performance before the eviction process commences.

    BBNaija is proudly Nigerian -MultiChoice

Video entertainment provider, MultiChoice Nigeria, has explained its decision for filming the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show in South Africa. A statement issued by the company said the decision was informed by the desire to deliver the same high quality production that its subscribers are accustomed to on its platforms.
“It is with this commitment in mind that a decision was taken to stage the show in the fully-equipped Big Brother House located in South Africa. This Big Brother property has been previously used to stage other successful and seamlessly-delivered Big Brother productions, including Big Brother Xtremo (for Angola and Mozambique) as well as all past Big Brother Africa series,” MultiChoice said in the statement.
The statement added that both MultiChoice and its customers are currently experiencing tough economic times, which have compelled the company, as a business, to review its operations so it can continue to deliver the best entertainment value without compromising on quality. “Staging the show in a Big Brother facility that already exists – and has been specially built for such purposes is not only cost-effective but has also allowed MultiChoice Nigeria to maintain the same excellent production values as with previous Big Brother editions whilst meeting tight timelines,” the company explained further.
The company assured that the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria is a proudly Nigerian show featuring Nigerians as housemates, in the production staff, as Biggie’s voice, all led by a Nigerian series director.  It equally stated that the musical performances on the show, which runs for 11 weeks, also include some of Nigeria’s biggest and hottest stars.
“ MultiChoice is a proud supporter and investor of local creative industries and currently has ongoing entertainment productions across the continent, including the much-loved Tinsel and upcoming AMVCAs which are filmed and produced in Nigeria and aired in several countries across Africa,” the statement concluded.
