Why Ilebaye won BBNaija All-Stars – Doyin

Former Big Brother Naija All-Stars housemate, Doyinsola David aka Doyin, has analysed why her friend and colleague, Ilebaye won the N120 million grand prize of the reality show.

The Nation reported that the Kogi-born model beat five other finalists to the prize on Sunday night.

Speaking in an interview with Sabi Radio on Monday, Doyin reckoned that Ilebaye won because of “Nigerians’ underdog mentality.”

According to this viewpoint, Nigerians frequently stand by and support people who they believe to are marginalised or persecuted by a group.

The host, Miracle OP said: “We’ve seen different types of strategies in reality shows. And I don’t know why people still do this where they isolate somebody. Once you isolate somebody, especially so early in the game, human beings, especially Nigerians have the mentality that if a group of people are oppressing one person, that one person is our hero. It’s the underdog mentality.”

Doyin concorded: “True. I think her (Ilebaye’s) storyline was meant to play out the way it played out.”

She said she felt betrayed by Ilebaye when she went behind her back and made up with Venita after their altercation in the House.

Ilebaye has been under heavy fire after she made a post instructing fans how to donate to her barely 24 hours after she won the N120 million grand prize of the BBNaija All Stars show.

A post made via her X handle on Monday morning reads: “We’ve received information about fans planning to send gifts or contributions. Please refrain from sending money to any account that isn’t officially posted on Ilebaye’s verified accounts. For gifts, please send an email. The only accessible account is the Baye Tribe account (9608176782 – Providus). We won’t be responsible for any misappropriation of funds. Thank you.”

The post sparked mixed reactions, with many slamming the reality star for “soliciting for more funds so early after winning N120m million.”

Reacting, Ilebaye’s management said the post was not to solicit funds, stressing that they only highlighted the account they have access to.

Quoting the initial tweet, the handler wrote; “This tweet was solely to avoid people who want to give gifts falling into the hands of scammers.

“We didn’t solicit for funds, we only highlighted the account we have access to.

”Too many fake account numbers are circulating and we will not be held accountable for any misappropriation.”

X user calls for Ilebaye’s arrest for ‘begging money’ after BBNaija All Stars N120 million win

An irate X user has called on the authorities to immediately arrest the BBNaija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Precious Odiniya for ‘begging for more money on the internet’ after clinching the N120 million prize money and other goodies.

The X user identified as Alexander also entreated the authorities, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Police Force to clampdown on individuals that would send Ilebaye money.

He said: “@officialEFCC @OfficialDSSNG @PoliceNG Please arrest this fraudster. She just won 120million naira but she’s here begging for more money on the internet. Arrest anyone that sends her money too.

Besides Alexander, many other aggrieved Nigerians marched to Ilebaye’s X handle to bash her for presumably soliciting funds a few hours after clinching the N120 million prize money and other goodies.

Ilebaye, on Sunday October 1, was announced the winner of the just concluded Season 8 edition of the widely viewed show.

At noon on Monday, few hours after her victory announcement the previous day, Ilebaye’s X handle published information of her account details for all and sundry to donate funds.

According to the post, the move was necessitated to avert fraudsters cashing out with her name as they’d been duly informed about fans intentions to donate funds to her.

The tweet read: “We’ve received information about fans planning to send gifts or contributions. Please refrain from sending money to any account that isn’t officially posted on Ilebaye’s verified accounts. For gifts, please send an email. The only accessible account is the Baye Tribe account (96*81*678* – Providus). We won’t be responsible for any misappropriation of funds. Thank you.”

But many received the tweet with mixed feelings and they condemned her for attempting to further milk those who’d spent their resources to vote for her despite having won N120 million.

Others called her all sorts of names, arguing they expected her to do a giveaway and not beg the already financially strained fans for money.

@ToonzPhil tweeted: “This is nothing but joke of the century… After winning ₦120m…you are still going to collect from your fans???… Make it make sense.”

@Nithsmit said: “You should be doing Giveaway to your fans for supporting you and not asking them to send you money after winning 120M

@SoAmithedrama wrote: “This is the greed the Bible talks about.”

@De_GreatKhan stated: “Indeed the bible was right, “the rich get richer and to those who have little even what they have would be taken from them – in this case by f000lishness.”

With the lambasting getting even more heated, her management locked the comment section of the tweet displaying her account details while they offered an explanation in a follow-up tweet.

In the post, the Gen Z baddie’s tweet noted: “This tweet was solely to avoid people who WANT to gift falling into the hands of scammers. We didn’t solicit for funds, we only highlighted the account we have access to. Too many fake account numbers are circulating and we will not be held accountable for any misappropriation.”
