    Ezekiel makes history in Belgium

Standard Liege striker, Imoh Ezekiel, on Sunday made history in Belgium when he scored the fastest goal ever in the Jupiler League, futaa.com reports.

Ezekiel helped his club to a 2-0 victory when he scored the opener in the ninth seconds against Genk. And that was his first goal this season.

Whilst it may be the fastest goal ever scored in Belgium’s Jupiler League, it is quite a few seconds slower than the fastest ever goals scored in the history of the Beautiful Game.

In July, Ezekiel was handed a contract extension that would keep him in Belgium until June 2017.

He played a vital role in Standard Liege’s sixth place finish last season, netting 16 times in 33 appearances to place fifth in the league top scorers’ chart.

Imoh Ezekiel hits 15th goal in Belgium

Nigerian striker, Ezekiel Imoh, scored his 15th league goal of the season for Belgian club, Standard Liege on Friday.

Supersport.com reports that the 19-year-old scored the winner as Standard Liege beat Zulte-Waregem 4-3 in what was arguably the most memorable game of the play-offs so far.

Imoh’s effort on 79 minutes was memorable albeit controversial as Standard Liege came from 3-1 down to win at the Regenboogstadion, Waregem.

Standard’s Japanese forward, Kensuke Nagai combined with Frédéric Bulot down the right with the latter squaring for the Nigerian youngster who poked home from five yards from a seemingly offside position.

The goal may have been scored under fortuitous fashion but Imoh would care little about that as the win now takes Standard Liege to third on the standings, three points adrift of the leaders, Anderlecht.

Ezekiel, who has been in great form this season, is yet to be capped by Nigeria at any level.

He is currently in fifth place in the top goal scorer’s charts in Belgium.
