  • My daughter seduced me, says incestuous dad

Admits five sexual encounters, denies pregnancy

“She was the one who seduced me, she kissed me and I warned her. A particular day, she grabbed me and was trying to have sex with me. I beat her up but later I fell for it and slept with her. It was the devil that made me to fall.”

Those were the words of a 50-year-old man, Taiwo Oyelabi arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for sleeping with and impregnanting his daughter, Nibila, 21.

According to the suspects, his daughter started leaving with him seven-months-ago after his sister brought her back from France.

Oyelabi said Nibila and her twin were abandoned by their mum when they were two-year-old, adding that his siblings took them from him until last November when she was brought home.

After sleeping with her the first time, Oyelabi said he reported the incident at a Celestial Church, where they performed deliverance.

“But after that, I slept with her four more times. It was not four straight times.  We were leaving together and I decided that she needed to learn a skill to keep her occupied. I took her to a place were they produce nylons for her to learn and I paid for it.

“But after two weeks, she repeated the same action again and we slept together. Then, I am a security man at Obadore. Each night I want to go to work, she would say she cannot sleep alone that she was scared.

“So, I used to take her to my workplace and we would also have sex at night there. It was my landlord who leaked the news of her sexual affairs. He did it because we had an argument.

“I did not know that my daughter was already pregnant. She was three months and few weeks gone. I am not the one who deflowered her. She was not a virgin when we started sleeping together. She had a man friend, Azeez.

“I do not think I am responsible for her pregnancy because I was not the only one sleeping with her. I wanted to commit suicide when I learnt of the pregnancy. I tried to kill myself three times but people stopped me.

“The first time I tried to drink Snipper insecticide but a neighbour stopped me. I later jumped into a well but I was rescued alive. Then, I bought some drugs but people saw it and they collected it. It was the devil that led me to it,” said Oyelabi, who was paraded before reporters yesterday.

According to Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal, the suspect was arrested by operatives attached to Igando Police Station, adding that the matter was later referred to gender section of the command for detailed investigation.

Edgal said: “Sometime in November last year, the suspect took the now grown Nibila from his sister and brought her home to live with him in his house at Iyaba-oba.

“Since then, the suspect has been having inappropriate sexual liaison with his daughter which resulted in pregnancy. Investigation into the case revealed that the suspect is a security man and whenever he was going to work, he went with his daughter.

“This strange behaviour attracted the attention of the community and they reported to the police. Meanwhile the suspect would be processed to the special sexual Offences court in Ikeja.”

  • Why I planned my boss’ kidnap – Suspect

A young man arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping his boss’ brother, Alvin Onuoha, has said he did it because they sidelined him on a $30,000 deal.

Uchenna Eze, a native of Imo State, was paraded yesterday alongside his alleged accomplice, Vincent Uchenna by Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal.

Edgal said the suspects and four others at large, committed the offence around 5:20pm, on April 6, at Ajah.

He said the suspects bundled Onuoha into a Toyota Camry saloon car, while he was about entering their compound.

Edgal said: “Onuoha was returning from work and on getting to the front of his gate, he was kidnapped by six men operating in a Toyota Camry and a motorcycle. He was taken to an unknown destination.

“Two of the suspects were arrested when they went to collect the N200,000 ransom they demanded for the victim’s release. During interrogation, the mastermind of the kidnapping, Eze Douglas Uchenna, confessed to have stayed with the victim in the same house. “He stated further that the sum of $30,000 was initially demanded as ransom for the release of the victim before they reduced it to N200, 000. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.”

However, Eze said they only wanted to get his money from his boss, who was in the habit of denying him his share of their loots from swindling.

He said: “We were into Yahoo business (internet fraud) and he said whenever we made money, it would be shared on 60/40 percent. I agreed and brought businesses to him but each time money came out, he would deny me my 40 percent.

“The first one we did together, we made $4,300. Instead of giving me my share, he gave me N300, 000. I still stayed with him and kept bringing my jobs to him. I finished another work and handed over the details to him so he can follow up with payment.

“The work paid $30,000 but he kept telling me they haven’t pay. So, one of the guys who used to live with us in my boss’ room called me from Philippines and told me that my work had paid and that I was a rich man now.

“I went to my boss and asked him how far with the payment and he said nothing for me. That I was in place to learn work and not to collect money. They started treating me somehow and since I was afraid for my life, I left the house in October last year. I slept inside tricycle for months until I met my friend, Vincent and he introduced me to his friend, Matthew, who helped us in getting his soldier friend and some other boys to pick the man up.

“I never demanded $30,000. I demanded N200, 000 ransom. I only mentioned the $30,000 so that I’ll know if the man will open up.”

  • Police arrest Beninnois, another for threat to kidnap

I only threaten to post victim’s nudes, says suspect

The police in Lagos on Monday paraded a Beninnois, Gbagudi Marusi and one Alabi Ayodeji for alleged threats to kidnap, kill a man identified as Innocent Ikhigbenareme.

The duo allegedly committed the offence on February 26, through a strange number (+14236070207), which the police said, was generated locally.

They were said to have obtained information about the victim from his Facebook page and demanded N600,000 from him.

According to the police, the suspects had given Ikhigbenareme 24 hours to raise the money and bring it to a location that would be disclosed to him or risk being killed.

Ikhigbenareme, the police said, was afraid and fled his residence. In order to buy time, the victim was said to have requested for the account details of his would-be kidnapper so that he could transfer the money.

“At this stage, he reported the matter to the command’s anti-kidnapping unit. The intelligence component of the command was activated and they discovered that one of the suspects, Alabi Ayodeji, a native of Oyo State, was hibernating at Idi-Iroko. He was arrested on April 7. He claimed to be a final year student of International Relations at ESCARE University, Benin Republic.

“The second suspect, Gbagudi Marusi, a Beninnois, was arrested on April 8 at the same location after he was lured to Nigeria’s side of the border. They confessed that they got the victim’s details from Facebook and exploited the information they had to make money off him. The suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” said Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects yesterday.

But Marusi said it was a case of blackmail and not kidnapping, adding that the man was his Facebook lover.

According to the Beninnois, he had posed as a woman on Facebook and Ikhigbenareme took on the female pictures he usually shared.

Marusi said: “I pretend to be a woman on Facebook. I posted pictures and the man liked it. He toasted me (made advances) and I accepted. We started talking and we graduated to WhatsApp. I used to send him nude pictures and videos of women on his request.

“He sent his to me as well. So, one day, I decided to blackmail him to get money from him. I told him that if he didn’t send money, I will share his nudes on his Facebook wall for his friends to see.

“I did not demand any amount. So, he said I should send account number and I sent my friend’s, Alabi Ayodeji’s account number. My friend did not know anything about it. I just told him I was expecting money in his account and when the man said he had sent N50,000, I asked my friend and he confirmed it. He gave me the money.

“I continued to blackmail the man for money. I was arrested through my friend. They got him first, maybe through his account number. I was arrested through him. It is not true that we threaten to kidnap him. I never talked about kidnapping.”

  • RRS forces robbers to abandon bus, gun, flee into bush

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad ( RRS ) of the Lagos State Police Command  on Thursday forced four armed robbers to abandon a hijacked danfo commercial bus, a gun and six passengers whom they had held hostage while in transit.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal disclosed this today at the Command’s headquarter while parading some suspected criminals the police arrested.

The four robbers who boarded the bus heading to LASU – Iba route from Iyana Ipaja hijacked the bus from the driver immediately one of the passengers alighted at Diamond Estate, Isheri, Lagos.

According to the driver of the bus, Sherrif Dada, “at around 11:00 p.m on Thursday, after returning from a chartered trip to Sango, my conductor and I went straight to our usual route at Egbeda to make some more money before the closing for the day. We saw lots of passengers at Egbeda Bus Stop who were heading to Igando.

We picked the passengers and we dropped the first passenger at Diamond Estate Bus Stop. Just after leaving the Bus Stop, one of the passengers, four guys in their 20s brought out a gun and told me to stop”.

“Just after pinning the gun to my head, the other robbers began to ransack the  passengers particularly, a lady suspected to be carrying a handbag and her Infinix Note 4 android phone. The robbers began to scuffle with the lady to dispossess her of her belonging but the lady refused to surrender her bag to the gun wielding bandits.

It wasn’t quite long my conductor escaped that they threw me down on motion after sighting an RRS patrol vehicle chasing them. They felt I was not fast enough”, he stated.

According to the conductor, Hakeem Hassan, “I was also  held down at gun point after attempting to jump down from the moving bus to stop me from raising alarm.

Unfortunately for them for them I managed to escape from the bus after the driver slowed down. I ran for my dear life. They threatened to shoot me but I defied all their threat to stop me from calling attention of those around the area”.

He stated further, “immediately I manage to jump from the bus, I ran backward screaming for help and also hearing the robber telling me to stop that he was going to shoot me but I continued running until I ran into a filling station.

It wasn’t quite long I had been screaming for help when I saw an RRS patrol vehicle speeding towards me. I guessed other road users who saw me had told them”.

“The chase by the police vehicle unsettled the four robbers. They instantly stopped collecting our valuables and were thinking of how to escape. As soon as we left Igando General Hospital, they drove the danfo into a bush and escaped leaving behind their only gun and mobile phone they took from one of the passengers”, one of the commuters stated.

Recovered from the bus were a locally made gun and an Android mobile phone, which they collected from one of the passengers.

Both the danfo bus and the mobile phone were handed over to their owners at the RRS Headquaters in Alausa.

Commenting on the development, the Police PRO, SP Chike Oti said “Lagos is not a safe zone for any criminal to operate, if they risk it, we will get them”.

Over 100 youths on Wednesday renounced their membership of various secret cult groups in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The event which was witnessed by the state acting Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, at Imota, was the second time this month suspected cultists came out publicly to embrace peace in Ikorodu district.

According to Edgal, their change of attitude was as a result of his community policing and neighbourhood partnership strategies, which were winning back the people’s trust.

He said: “The boys will be reintegrated into the society after being empowered with various skills. They had voluntarily renounced cultism and surrendered to the police.

“The importance of this denouncement is not for those doing it but for the society at large. What is significant is that the process for youths to show interest in denouncing cultism and taking up jobs, skills has started.

“I expect more youths to follow suit because this would mean that there are less arms in wrong hands and crime rate would drop.

“This is a clear and visible evidence that our community policing and community safety partnership is achieving result.”

Commending the traditional rulers for supporting the police to contain violent crimes in the district, Edgal appealed to the monarchs to prevail on their subjects to shun cultism and drug abuse.
