Ini Edo opens up on crashed marriage

NOLLYWOOD actress, Ini Edo, has maintained a low profile ever since her marriage crashed, with many alleging she is the cause of the breakup.

Reports have it that the actress, who attended the Golden Icons African Movie Awards (GIAMA), which held in Houston, Texas, United States, last month, practically avoided the red carpet. She was also said to be in low spirit throughout the exciting show.

Edo, responding to rumours of infidelity as reason for her crashed marriage said, “I have always been a one-man lady.”

She said she is “usually at a loss” when she reads stories about her sexual relationships. “It is really astonishing when people just manufacture stories, give them legs and let them fly when they know the stories are absolutely false.”

The thespian who was recently voted as Nollywood’s Sexiest Actress noted that it is legitimate for men to have designs and desires on stars, but that does not translate to falling for every man that makes advances.

“I was raised well by my parents and I have always been a one-man lady. All the sexual shenanigans that the media have associated me with are all false. The problem with our journalists is that, if they saw you at a coffee shop with a man  just any man  even if that man is your cousin or brother, they will automatically assume that is your new lover, and without asking questions, will rush to publish that you were seen at a coffee shop with a new lover.”

She said she has lost count of the number of such innocent outings with family members or friends that the media has misconstrued.

“What the media failed to understand was that I had not allowed stardom and celebrity to becloud my values. What they did not realise was that I wanted to be married, and start a family, and that the notion that I was some kind of a sexually crazy and hormone raging young woman, was totally false.

“Did I have friends in the past? Of course, just like any other young and single woman out there, I had friends. Did that make me an out-of-control sexual goddess? Absolutely not! It has been very painful for me each time I read all the stories written about me, stuffs that are patently false. I have, however, come to accept it as part of the price you pay for stardom. I just wished they could do a little investigation before rushing to publish.

“One story that pained me a lot is the notion that I snatched Philips from his ex-wife  Ruth Okoro  while she was recuperating from cancer treatment. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ex-wife said I was callous and mean-spirited to have done so. Initially, I had wanted to ignore what she said about me, but I would like to use this medium to state that I did not take Philips from Ruth Okoro”.

    G-Clemp releases Ini Edo

After hitting the airwaves with his single, Microphone, George Clement Pius has dropped a new single titled Ini Edo.

Better known as G-Clemp, the artiste described Ini Edo as an Ibibio-speaking chorus with Makossa flow, which gives  the listeners an insight into the shape of the beautiful Nollywood actress, Ini Edo.

“You know, she has a beautiful shape and is also from Akwa Ibom, where I come from. I am trying to promote my language, my culture and my people. I am also trying to remove the perception of many people that Akwa Ibomites are only good as maids,” G-Clemp stated.

On what makes the new song different from his previous ones, G-Clemp said: “It’s something different from what people used to see from G-Clemp and the song is a club banger. For the first time, you will hear me rap in my native language and the song is a blend of hip-hop, Afro-pop and, of course, the comical flavour, which is always inherent in my style. It has to be funny. The video is funny and entertaining.”  He also disclosed that he would drop his full album before the end of the year.

Makinde Adeleke of South-South Records, who described G-Clemp as a gifted musician, said: “There is a curious excitement when the name G-Clemp or Microphone is mentioned, because of his kind of musi-comedy. If you don’t hear what he sings, you follow the flow, which is easily adaptable even by children,” he explained.

    Nollywood stars appointed KKI ambassadors

A number of top Nollywood stars have been appointed brand ambassadors of Kill the Killer Initiative, KKI, a fight against high blood pressure and diabetics in Nigeria and other African countries.

During the launch held at the New Nation headquarters, Port Harcourt, Uche jumbo, Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda and Desmond Elliott, among others, were given a rousing welcome.

While unveiling the KKI products, the chairman of Dukwe and 21 Pillars for Global Development Equity, Mr. Charles Dukwe, said the Nollywood stars would join the fight against high blood pressure and diabetics.

According to him, corruption has been the bane of the fight against diabetics and high blood pressure.

He said: “Uche jumbo, Ini Edo, Monalisa Chinda and Desmond Elliott and others have been selected as official partners of KKI. They will help this organisation to fight against high blood pressure and diabetics by becoming distributors of KKI products, earning great profits in the process.”

Dukwe, who is also the chairman of New Nation, an empowerment organisation, said: “The problem of Nigeria is not poverty, but lack of ideas. We need to be compassionate to others and honour those who have the heart to love others and not those who have the heart to loot our treasury. That is why I said the issue of diabetics could be a thing of the past if we have compassion for others. “

INI EDO TO FANS: Be wary of fraudsters

DETERMINED to keep her reputation, Nollywood screen queen, Ini Edo, has, again, cried out against impersonation by some unknown persons in recent time.

It was not the first time that the beautiful actress and some of her colleagues had raised the alarm over such undisciplined practice, warning unsuspecting members of the public not to fall victims of fraudsters.

In a BlackBerry message, which was recently rebroadcast by her colleagues in the entertainment industry, the actress said, “My attention has just been drawn to some fraudulent acts being perpetrated by some criminals using my social media accounts: Facebook and Twitter. They have been compromised. I’m hereby warning these fraudsters to desist from this act. I also advise my fans and unsuspecting members of the public to be vigilant, so they don’t fall victims. I have not asked anybody on Facebook or Twitter to pay money into any account. Please, be careful. Kindly rebroadcast this broadcast till it spreads. Thank you.”

It will be recalled that the actress had in 2008 called a press conference in Lagos to clear her name in some scandals bordering on her personality.

At that time, some people had claimed that she duped them money and gift items.

For her, it was a most trying period because she had just been granted pardon after she was placed on suspension by the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, over a petition by a movie marketer who accused her of indiscipline and insubordination on his movie set.
