    Release my results

I WILL like the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to help me out of the serious problem I find myself.

I did the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the Gregory  University, Uturu, Abia State about two months ago.

My problem is that I cannot access my results on the Internet, meaning that the JAMB has not released my results in the four subjects I chose.

My pin number is 1473731236692868 and 441568528 is my serial number.

I hope to hear from the JAMB Registrar soon.

Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ((NSCDC), Kogi State Command, Wednesday, unleashed terror on the Lokoja office of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), beating up staff of the federal government parastatal.

The heavily armed NSCDC personnel stormed the office around 10amforcefully dragging out security men manning the office and whisking them to their office, on the allegation that JAMB refused to engage their services.

The NSCDC claimed that SPITEC, the security outfit contracted by JAMB to guard its office was not registered with the organisation.

The invasion was led by one RSM Jegede who allegedly ordered his men to shoot any staff who refuse to ‘cooperate.’

When the JAMB state coordinator, Mr. Daniel Agbo and some staff pleaded that the issue was being handled by their headquarters, the corps personnel reportedly descended on them.

They were said to have shut the JAMB office, after unleashing terror on the staff, including beating up a pregnant female worker.

Another female staff, Miss Victoria Tachio was also beaten to a stupor and her clothes was tore to shreds.

The JAMB accountant and one Ada Ugbole were also said to have been stripped and beaten up.

Ugbole was said to have fainted in the NSCDC, before cell before he was rushed to the hospital.

Speaking with newsmen, the state coordinator, Daniel Agbo expressed surprise with the “commando-like manner officers of the corps” invaded their office saying it was crude and uncivil.

Showing journalists bruises all on his body, Agbo said he was fell thrice, even as “one of them pointing his rifle” at him

He said cash from sales of scratch cards and forms, mobile phones and other personal effects were carted away by the attackers.

When journalists made to hear from the NSCDC state commander, Mr. Dayo Adesuyi, on what transpired, his men barricaded the road, raining abuses.

One of the officers, Akusebio, T. O. threatened to deal with the journalists.

One of the journalists, Emmanuel Adeyemi, a correspondent with The Sun newspapers was manhandled and his working tool confiscated.

  • JAMB REGISTRAR: Release my result

I am using this opportunity to appeal to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to release the result of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) I did in April.

The board released the results of other candidates a few days after the examination. I don’t know why my own result is being withheld. I did not involve myself in malpractices during the examination and I filled my admission forms in accordance with the board’s rules and regulations.

I need the result urgently. Without it, I cannot start planning my life. Therefore, I am appealing to the registrar to release the result now.

My centre is Great Immaculate Secondary School, Aba.

  • JAMB wants CBT for public examinations

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suggested the adoption of Computer Based Test (CBT) in the conduct of public examinations to improve the standard of education.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Head, Public Relations Unit of JAMB, Mr. Fabian Gabriel.

The statement said that JAMB was determined to give equal opportunity to candidates who are desirous of qualitative education.

It also described CBT as the best mode of e-examination, especially in the conduct of such examinations in prisons.

“The Board conducted the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on CBT mode for 250 prisoners.

“This was administered to prisoners in Ikoyi and Kaduna, who were on the verge of completing their jail terms.

“The Board has deployed its systems and computers to the prisoners for the examination to be conducted without hitches.

“The examination at the prisons is part of our resolve to meet global expectations of reformative institution and remolding of repented prisoners to pursue their educational careers,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the JAMB spokesman as saying in the statement.

It said the conduct of examinations for prisoners through CBT was part of the Board’s corporate social responsibility based on the peculiar nature and confinement of inmates.

The statement said the CBT examination which started on Saturday May 17, would end on Monday, June 2.

  • Power outage forces JAMB to reschedule test

A power outage at one of the examination centres in Lagos, has forced the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to reschedule the third session of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination Computer-Based Test (CBT) to May 31.

The examination, which was previously scheduled for May 26 at the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) in Lagos, had to be shifted because of the outage, Mr. Noble Onukwue, JAMB’s Deputy Director, Outstation, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos.

Onukwe said the test would now be held at 11.00am, explaining that the outrage caused delay in concluding the second session of the examination, which made it impossible to start the third session.

“It was not safe to keep children late because for the examination because of the security situation in the country.

“Some of these children are from very far distances and keeping them will amount to rushing the examination so as to get home on time.

“So the best decision was to reschedule which is one of the flexibilities of the CBT.”

Onukwue said that one of the criteria the board requested from examination centres was provision of adequate power supply without relying on public sources of electricity.

JAMB fixes May 17-31 for UTME

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday fixed May 17 to 31 for the conduct of 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) through Computer Based Test (CBT).

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Fabian Gabriel, the Head of Public Relations of the board, and issued to newsmen in Abuja.

According to the statement, the CBT will take place in over 163 centres in Nigeria and abroad, saying the date was sacrosanct.

The statement also described CBT as the best mode of examination.

It, however, urged the candidates to reprint their e-slip in the event they missed or misplaced their schedules.

“Over 616,000 candidates are expected to sit for the examination with over 250 prisoners in Kaduna and Ikoyi prisons,” it added.

“The CBT remains the best mode as it provides better platform for the candidates to articulate their educational pursuit.

“It eliminates result black-out or incomplete results and eliminates examination malpractice and enhances prompt release of scores two hours after the examination, among other benefits too numerous to mention,” the statement said.

It added that the board was determined to go full-blown with CBT in 2015 UTME, owing to success recorded in 2013 and the quests to sanitise the education sector.

The statement said that CBT was introduced in 2012 while the maiden edition was conducted in the 2013 UTME alongside the conventional Paper Pencil Test and Dual Based Test.

The statement reported Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Registrar of JAMB, as saying that the desire to go full swing with CBT in 2015 was non-negotiable.

It urged Nigerians to see it as a revolution in the examination industry. (NAN)

  • Lower cut-off marks

    Lower cut-off marks

THIS is a special appeal to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and it is my belief that it will be of benefit to all the candidates who took the board’s examination this year.

According to the results recently released by the board, many candidates failed the examination. This is why it will be a wise decision to lower the cut-off marks for candidates seeking admissions to colleges of education, polytechnics and universities.

I am imploring the Registrar not to reject my wish which is not to benefit me alone. This is something that will benefit many Nigerians.

  • JAMB, release my result

    JAMB, release my result

I AM appealing to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to release my Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

I sat for my Paper Pencil Test (PPT) on April 12, 2014 at the Community Grammar School, Isale Ilu in Ipaja, Lagos. My Seat Number (SN) was 015.

I took all necessary steps before doing the examination, including the finger print verification. And I was not involved in malpractices.

I am now surprised that my result is being withheld for my failure to submit myself to the finger print verification.

I am begging the JAMB boss to release my result. I don’t want to lose this year. I want to go to the university straight.

    Ajorgba Patience,
