    Kia introduces ‘Monsoon Service’ clinic

Kia Nigeria, the leading automobile company in the country, has introduced the Monsoon Service Clinic, designed to help customers navigate the rainy season.

With a focus on exceptional service and ensuring customer satisfaction, Kia aimed to enhance the ownership experience of its valued customers.

Our goal is to provide our customers with peace of mind and ensure their Kia vehicles are in top condition to handle any weather conditions. The Monsoon Service Clinic offers a range of exciting benefits and discounts, allowing our customers to maintain their vehicles with ease.”

This allows customers to properly maintain their vehicles without breaking the bank.

“Additionally, customers can stay safe and comfortable during the rainy season with a complimentary AC check. This service ensures that Kia owners can drive with peace of mind, with properly functioning air conditioning systems that demist windshields for clear visibility.

“At Kia Nigeria, we understand the importance of using high-quality parts, which is why we are offering a 5 per cent discount on genuine Kia parts. This guarantee of quality ensures optimal performance and longevity for your Kia vehicle. Furthermore, customer safety is a top priority, and to that end, Kia Nigeria is providing a free multi-point check during the Monsoon Service Clinic. By availing of these offers, customers could maintain their Kia vehicles in excellent condition and be prepared for any weather condition.

  • Kia to reward customers in promo

Kia Motors Nigeria has rolled out service campaigns to reward customers.

The new ‘Mega March Makeover’ promo, among other offers, is aimed at providing a top-notch bodywork and painting service for customers at a heavily discounted pricing.

The new discounted body shop initiative offers body and painting services to car owners to help them reinvent the look and feel of their cars.

Under the Mega March Makeover promo, the company is offering as low as N27,000 and up to 45 per cent discount on all body repairs and painting to customers while cutting process time through the paint booths and trained and specialised body shop engineers in the service centres.

Painting a car is an opportunity to rejuvenate its original look or even to try out a new look with a different colour. However, with the number of roadside body shops with low-quality paints at a cheap price and the high cost of painting works from major auto dealers, more often than not, car owners are bedevilled with a difficult choice; highly priced quality painting compare to quack body shops with low quality painting work that wears out in no time.

With so much confusion and misinformation around the collision repair process, and to help bridge the gap between price and quality painting works, Kia Motors Nigeria has found it beneficial to take an active role in the process and improve brand loyalty in addition to offering best-in-class body works and painting at an affordable price for customers.

“As a leading auto brand in the country with increasing market share, our focus is on providing high quality, innovative products and above all solutions and offers to our growing customer base in Nigeria,” Sanjay Tatpati, Chief Operation Officer, Kia Motors Nigeria said in a statement.

Tatpati stressed that “there are two primary goals. Number one is quality painting at affordable pricing.”

According to him, “this is about a proper, highly professional repair for Kia vehicles that are on the road, and ultimately that correlates directly to our second objective: being customer-centric. This is a customer-first programme that is all about how we can best maintain Kia cars for our customers and anyone else that may be involved in an accident or just a general makeover for cars

“It all starts with customer satisfaction and works backward from there. Typically, customers are in a collision at one point or the other, so it’s not something they deal with on a daily basis. However, when they are involved in a collision, it’s always an unpleasant experience. So that is where we like to start: getting that customer into a certified body shop and making sure that they’re happy with their experience.”

  • Kia, Hyundai recall 500,000 cars

Hyundai and Kia have added more than a half-million vehicles to string of recalls in United States for engine failures and fires.

Three recalls released last Thursday by the government add new problems and vehicles to the Korean automakers’ list of safety woes, which have brought hundreds of complaints about fires from across the nation.

The companies have now recalled nearly 2.4 million vehicles for fire and engine failure problems since September of 2015, and they are under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for potentially being slow to fix faulty vehicles.

In addition, the companies are doing a “product improvement campaign” covering another 3.7 million vehicles to install software that will alert drivers of possible engine failures and send the cars into a reduced-speed “limp” mode if problems are detected.

The largest of three recalls posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website on Thursday covers nearly 379,000 Kia Soul small Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) from 2012 through 2016 with 1.6-liter engines.

Documents show that high exhaust gas temperatures can damage the catalytic converters, which control pollution. That can cause abnormal combustion and damage pistons and connecting rods. A failed connecting rod can pierce the engine block and cause oil leaks that can cause fires.

In addition, Hyundai and Kia are recalling 152,000 Tuscon SUVs from 2011 to 2013 and Sportage SUVs from 2011 and 2012 to fix an engine oil pan leak that also can cause fires.

Documents show that Kia had been investigating fires in Souls after the non-profit Center for Auto Safety petitioned the government to look into the fires last year. In November, the automaker couldn’t find any safety problem trends but it kept monitoring repair data and found the problem with the catalytic converters.

All Souls with 1.6-liter engines made from July 8, 2011 through August 11, 2016 are being recalled. Dealers will replace a computer that prevents the catalytic converter from overheating. They will also replace the catalytic converter and the engine if they have been damaged. Letters will be mailed to owners starting April 12.

Hyundai, which is affiliated with Kia, also has models with 1.6-liter engines. But spokesman Jim Trainor said they are different from the Soul with different control software. Kia spokesman James Bell said he would check into the other models.

In the Tuscon and Sportage recall, the fix for the oil pan problem is still being developed. Hyundai owners will be notified starting March 29, while Kia owners will get letters starting April 10.

In a letter to the U.S legislators mailed Wednesday, the Centre for Auto Safety asked for congressional action to hold Hyundai and Kia responsible for failing to repair millions of fire-prone vehicles. The centre said the government has more than 300 Hyundai-Kia fire complaints, which is high compared with similar vehicles, adding: “The better-late-than-never recall of Kia Souls hopefully will remedy this fire-causing defect,” said Jason Levine, executive director of the centre. Yet one has to wonder why Kia’s initial reaction was to deny the validity of our petition, particularly as there were dozens of reports of fires involving these vehicles all the way back to last summer.”

Levine said Kia denied fire problems with the Soul and he questioned why the company is resisting recalls of other vehicles that are prone to fires.

In one recall document, NHTSA wrote that it had scheduled a meeting with Hyundai to discuss the fire and engine failure investigation, but the meeting had to be cancelled due to the partial government shutdown. The documents don’t say whether it has taken place since the 35-day shutdown ended.

A NHTSA spokeswoman said the agency has communicated with both automakers since the government reopened. Documents in the latest round of recalls don’t mention whether there have been any fires or injuries.

In January, Kia said it had six reports of fires among vehicles being recalled for possible fuel leaks, while Hyundai said it had no fire reports. Neither company had any reports of injuries.

Levine has said fire complaints to NHTSA have come from across the country, including a death in Ohio in April of 2017.

  • KIA appoints Kamlik Motors as dealer

Kia Motors Nigeria has announced a new partnership with Kamlik Motors Limited to further expand its market reach and ease of access to teeming customers.

The dealership agreement will facilitate bringing Kia closer to the people in Kaduna and its environs.

In addition to bringing to the foray, vehicles that deliver best-in-class features and affordable price for value, the vision of KIA is to bring its world-class facilities closer to its customers and offer a model range of vehicles that meet their dreams and aspirations.

The appointment of Kamlik Motors in Kaduna, Kia Motors Nigeria Vice President Mr. Olu Tikolo, said is aimed at keeping pace with consumers’ evolving wants and needs to remain competitive.

Speaking on the partnership, Tikolo said: “this joint venture with Kamlik Motors is an important step in our expansion plans for the Nigerian market. Finding the right partners to work with in satisfying our customers is very vital to us. • Cars45, Kia trade over 300 vehicles

KIA Motors and Cars45, an online motor firm, have carried out over 300 transactions on KIA vehicles since the partnership was announced in January, last year.

This was made in Lagos where both firms announced that they were expanding the partnership to accommodate more car brands which enables consumers to have more choices when they want to buy, sell or swap their cars through Cars45 at any KIA location across the country.

Cars45Chief Financial Officer Jide Adamolekun said the deal has improved car ownership in the country.

“We launched this partnership January last year and at the end of the year, we reassessed how far we have gone and examined the opportunities that we have created in the Nigerian market. Cars 45 carried out over 300 transactions via this relationship last year and we have seen the future where by making more brands available to consumers we will help unlock more value in the nation’s automotive space,” Adamolekun said.

He said plans are on to move the current operations in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja to new cities and territories across the country.

KIA Marketing Manager Olawale Jimoh described the partnership as wonderful and rewarding experience which has seen both parties record so many gains.

He said: “We have seen the sale of used KIA cars rise as Cars45’s structured arrangement of buying and selling used cars has brought transparency and credibility, taking away the associated stress with selling locally used vehicles.

”It is against the backdrop of the successes recorded that we are now expanding this relationship to a more robust arrangement such that regardless of the car brand that you are driving, you can experience the rich range of value offerings provided by Cars45.”

Cars45 Vice President (Trading) Mohammed Iyamu said the firm is looking to triple last year’s transactions.

According to him, a missing link in Nigeria’s automotive industry is financing.

“If you look at a market like say South Africa, 70 per cent of the cars on the road are financed one way or another. Cars45’s trade-in/swap scheme has served as a means of financing for many and so we would be looking at adding more value to this partnership end to end.

“We are looking to provide new services to our customers that include repairs and workshop services, we are also looking to partner with other service providers in the automobile industry especially those who deal in accessories and also partner with financial institutions to provide financing for certified Cars45 car purchases,” he said.

The event also provided an opportunity for Cars45 to showcase the achievements of its sister brand, Carsbazr, which provides a stress-free experience for Nigerians to buy verified locally used cars that they can trust at the best prices.

Carsbazr Head of Operations John Egwu said affordability was at the heart of what the firm does. “Whatever car you are looking to buy at your individual price point, we’ve got you covered. All our cars have a standard report and there are no hidden details about any cars. Our weekly live auctions, which have become a game changer within the automobile community in Nigeria, also provide a great opportunity where people are able to go home with vehicles that they can afford in a convivial and fun environment,” he said.

  • Kia to unveil new in-car tech

Kia Motors will preview a range of new technologies developed for the post-autonomous driving era at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month.

Kia’s interactive ‘Space of Emotive Driving’ exhibit looks to a future when autonomous driving is the norm and priority is given to improving the human mobility experience. Central to this concept is Kia’s new Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving (READ) System – a world’s first technology developed based on a joint research collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab’s Affective Computing group.

READ System can optimise and personalise a vehicle cabin space by analysing a driver’s emotional state in real-time through artificial intelligence-based bio-signal recognition technology. The technology monitors a driver’s emotional state and tailors the interior environment according to its assessment – potentially altering conditions relating to the human senses within the cabin, creating a more joyful mobility experience.

Kia Motors President and Head of Research and Development Division Mr Albert Biermann, said: “We have developed READ System to create an interactive future mobility in-cabin space by converging cutting edge vehicle control technology and AI-based emotional intelligence. Consequently, READ System will enable continuous communication between drivers and vehicles through the unspoken language of ‘emotional feeling’, thereby providing an optimised human senses-oriented space for drivers in real-time.

  • Kia unveils ProCeed, others in Paris

Kia Motors last week unveiled the new Kia ProCeed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The shooting brake made its debut alongside the new high-performance Ceed GT and ProCeed GT, as well as the Ceed GT Line. The Kia e-Niro electric crossover also premiered at the European show.

According to Kia Motors Europe Chief Operating Officer, Emilio Herrera, the new cars underlined the level of ambition and design passion that defined Kia’s cars.

The ProCeed, Herrara said, offers buyers stunning and emotional design, the Ceed GT provides maximum driver engagement, and the e-Niro helps to break down the barriers to electric car ownership, making it easy, fun and reliable.

All four models unveiled by Kia in Paris will be sold with the company’s unique seven-year, 150,000 km warranty as standard. Kia’s warranty also covers the lithium-ion polymer battery pack in the e-Niro.

The ProCeed merged stunning coupé-inspired lines with tourer versatility. Shown publicly for the first time in Paris, the new Kia ProCeed merged stunning design with the space and versatility of a tourer in a five-door shooting brake body. The ProCeed will go on sale exclusively to European drivers at the beginning of next year.

Carrying the name over from the second-generation Kia pro_cee’d three-door coupé, the new ProCeed has been designed, developed and engineered in Europe. A product of Kia’s European design, product development and R&D teams in Frankfurt, Germany, the ProCeed will be manufactured at the brand’s Žilina production facility in Slovakia. It will be built alongside the Kia Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon, first introduced earlier this year.

The Ceed GT majors on performance and accomplished ride and handling. It is more accomplished and fun-to-drive than ever.

The original Cee’d GT and Pro_Cee’d GT were launched in 2013, as the first ever performance hatchbacks from a Korean brand. The new Ceed GT picked up where its predecessors left off, with an assured, engaging drive and a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi (turbo-charged gasoline direct injection) engine, as well as a comprehensive range of comfort, safety and convenience technologies.

The Ceed GT’s sporty exterior design differentiates it visually from other models in the Ceed range. Where the design of the conventional Ceed is characterised by taut creases and curvaceous sheet metal, the GT variant presents a more athletic proposition, with new front and rear bumpers, sills and a series of red highlights around the exterior.

The GT variant was built around the same ergonomic cabin architecture as other models in the Ceed line-up. Surfaces are finished in high-quality soft-touch materials and metallic trim, while the dashboard angled towards the driver, making it easier to use on the move. At the centre of the dashboard is Kia’s ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system – 7.0- or 8.0-inches wide – with audio and heating and ventilation controls situated below.

For the first time in a performance hatchback from Kia, the new Ceed GT will be available with an optional seven-speed double-clutch transmission, in addition to the standard six-speed manual gearbox.

Kia e-Niro combines driving enjoyment, eye-catching design, crossover utility and a zero-emissions powertrain – to create one of the most capable electric vehicles on-sale worldwide. It has been designed to break down barriers to electric car ownership, offering long-distance driving range, more intelligent packaging, and greater practicality than many other electric vehicles.

The e-Niro is the first fully electric crossover utility vehicle produced by Kia, providing a zero-emissions driving range of up to 485 kilometres (301 miles) on a single charge of its 64 kWh long-range battery pack. The long-range battery is also capable of travelling up to 615 kilometres (382 miles) in the city – further than many gasoline vehicles. The e-Niro is also available with a 39.2 kWh battery, which offers a driving range of up to 312 kilometres (193 miles) on a single charge.

Inside the Kia e-Niro, the cabin combines a  modern design with generous space and technologies that complement its zero-emissions powertrain. Buyers will also benefit from a range of dedicated electric vehicle in-car technologies to maximise range and efficiency, as well as new safety features, and differentiated exterior and interior design.
