    Nigeria’s online retail shop, Konga.com, is set to excite its customers with a money-saving special sales promo called Yakata.

    This year’s promotion is coming on the heels of last year’s success of the company’s special sales promo, also tagged: Yakata, its Head of Marketing, Gabriel Gab-Umoden, has said.

    Yakata is Konga’s version of the global ‘Black Friday’ sales and it was introduced by the online company to excite its customers in Nigeria.

    It enables them to make massive savings on the purchase of their favourite items on the company’s online platform.

    Gab-Umodem explained that Konga’s Yakata sales in 2013 were highly success because several consumers made incredible deals on their purchases.

    Nigeria’s largest online mall, Konga.com, has opened a new engineering centre in Yaba, Lagos.

    The opening of the new office, the firm said, was necessitated by the growth of Konga’s massive engineering team.

    Konga.com has one of the most remarkable teams of software engineers in Nigeria comprising over 100 engineers. Most of these engineers are in the new Lagos office with a smaller hub opening soon in Cape Town, South Africa.

    Konga’s team of highly self-motivated and driven tech staff work on developing the cutting-edge software and applications which Konga.com runs on. With focus on innovation, some impressive software developed by the tech team range from the actual Konga.com website, to other platforms such as the ‘SellerHQ’– a trading platform which allows sellers to upload pictures of their merchandise, manage stores and trade on the Konga.com.

    Konga.com’s engineering team also created the Konga Shopping App, which runs on Android and iOS, Konga’s Konga’s SellerHQ App on Android as well as several Logistics Applications and internal operational tools.

    The firm’s Director of Products and Enterprises-Technology, Mr. Olatokunbo Fagbamigbe, praised  the engineering team. He said: “Konga hires the finest multidisciplinary engineers in Nigeria to design and develop the core systems for our online customer experience today; ranging from the actual e-retailer site to other back-end systems. Our team is driven by the challenge to engineer world class systems to help Konga be the engine of trade and commerce in Africa.”

    The company’s founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sim Shagaya, spoke on the role of technology in establishing e-commerce as a major industry in Nigeria, saying: “The growth potential for e-commerce in Nigeria is astronomical.We recognise that to be successful in this industry, every point in the consumer’s online shopping experience on Konga must be first-rate. From providing ease when placing orders, to the moment the consumer holds the product in his hands, our proprietary technology follows through to ensure that the experience is as satisfying as possible.”

  • Infinix Zero partners Konga

    Following the introduction of Infinix zero last month, the company has partnered Konga to enable people buy the product online and at affordable prices.

    Head of Marketing, Infinix Mobility Co, Ltd, Peter Zhou, made this known at the conference held at GRA Ikeja when he said the Infinix zero will be 45per cent cheaper if purchased on e-commerce compared to the shop outlet.

    “We are partnering with Konga because it is the best market platform in Nigeria as shown by several metrics. Infinix zero is sold online because the cost of e-commerce is cheaper than that of the brick and mortal market, thereby making products affordable for customers.” he said.

    The product has so far sold over 20,000 which is an embodiment of aesthesis.

  • First Konga affiliate millionaire emerges

    Konga.com has announced the emergence of its first affiliate to make one million naira. He is Mr. Paschal Okafor, owner of the Naija Tech Guide website, a website focused on technology news, reviews, specs and prices of gadgets. It serves as a guide for making the right purchase decisions in the technology market.

    Mr. Okafor has been promoting products featured on Konga.com site for many months now and has cornered a commission of up to N1 million. He was recently hosted to a warm reception at the Konga Headquaters.

    Speaking about the emergence of the new Konga affiliate millionaire, Gabriel Gab-Umoden, Head of Marketing, said: “We are quite pleased with this new development. At Konga, we are always on the lookout for ways to reward our promoters and customers alike. And we are grateful for the support we have gotten from all our affiliates.     Nigeria’s online marketplace, Konga.com, in collaboration with Triple X Entertainment and other firms hosted over 10, 000 kids at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos on Children’s Day.

    The event, which came after Konga launched its special Children’s Day store, saw special prizes awarded to exceptional children that participated in the organised Spelling Bee.

    Parents who wanted to surprise their children with amazing but budget items such as books, stationery, clothes, shoes and educational toys enjoyed special discounts on the Konga Children’s Day store.

    Head of Marketing of Konga.com, Gabriel Gab-Umoden, said: “May 27 is a day dedicated to celebrating children all around the world, and in our own little way, we worked with our partners to celebrate over 10,000 children in Lagos.
