  • Couple kidnapped in Bayelsa

    •Transporter’s wife, daughter abducted

    A couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Kido, has been kidnapped in Konga, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, by eight gunmen.

    Mr. Kido reportedly escaped by jumping into the river. A source said there was an attempt by some gunmen to kidnap Mr. Kido last year, but that he escaped.

    “This time, they came again when Kido and his wife were sleeping. They bundled them into the boat. As they were escaping with them, Kido jumped into the river. The gunmen only took his wife”, the source, who pleaded for anonymity, said.

    The hoodlums have yet to establish contact with the family of the victim.

    The police confirmed the incident and said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the abduction.

    Police spokesman Alex Akhigbe said the suspects had made useful statements.

    He said the police were making efforts to locate the kidnappers and free their victim.

    In Benin, Edo State, gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of popular transporter, Abel Omoruyi, the Managing Director of Iyare Motors Limited.

    Source said Mrs. Esohe Abel and Miss Osarumwense Abel were kidnapped at 5 pm at Ugbor village close to Ugbor Primary School.

    It was gathered that the hoodlums abandoned the victims’ car and took them away in their own car.

    Omoruyi said the matter has been reported at the Ugbor Police station and the victims’ car has been recovered by the police.

    The kidnappers have not contacted the family.

    Also,  Christmas clothes that are sold for N30,000 now go for only N10,000.
