    LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, has won the 2012 Most Trusted Brand Award as the most trusted home appliance brand in Nigeria.

    The award was awarded by BrandHealth in recognition of LG Electronics’ innovative products that have made quality home appliances available to Nigerians.

    Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of BrandHealth, Mr Emman Udowoima, said: “Going by the research we conducted, the LG brand is undisputedly the most trusted home appliance brand in Nigeria. LG has distinguished itself going by the array of quality products it has on offer.”

    Also speaking, the Corporate Marketing Manager, LG Electronics, Mr Rajesh Agnihotri, said: “We are committed to providing our teeming consumers with first-rate products that meet their peculiar needs. Our responsive posture is what has endeared many to the LG brand.”

    The awards is organised annually by BrandHealth, a brands research company. This year’s event was the third edition. It is an initiative developed and executed as a campaign to mobilise Nigerian consumers to ask for accountability from organisations who offer them goods and services.

    ‘No going back on LG financial autonomy’

    Member representing Anaocha/Dunukofia/Njikoka Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Honourable Uche Ekwunife has said the National Assembly will pursue financial autonomy for the local government system in the country in the ongoing constitution review.

    Hon Ekwunife who is the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Environment spoke while briefing her constituents in the United Kingdom, UK.

    She said in a statement at the weekend that the National Assembly would ensure that the local government system gets financial autonomy to be able to meet the challenges facing it.

    “There is no going back on the financial autonomy for local government system because it will among other things bring development to the grassroots and the rural dwellers will feel the impact of democratic governance which President Goodluck Jonathan Transformation Agenda is all abouth”

    On the outcome of the Presidential Election in US, Ekwunife urged Nigerians to learn lessons from the US’ election, adding that the country and its leaders should be more interested in issues concerning governance instead of engaging in campaigns of calumny.

    “I want our leaders and politicians to learn lesson from President Brack Obama and his closet rival, Mitt Romney who engaged each other on campaign of issues and not what is obtainable in our democracy where our politicians engage each other in campaigns of character assassination”

     

  • LG chairman’s aide shot

    The Special Assistant to the Transition Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area, Mr. Alfred Nyamanli ,was shot yesterday by unknown gunmen in his compound at Fugar in Edo North..

    According to source, the hoodlums who laid an ambush at his compound launched the attack on him at about 9.30 pm and shot him on his buttocks.

    The Nation learnt that he was immediately rushed to Ogar hospital in Fugar by neighbours who heard him screaming. He is presently receiving treatment in the hospital.

    Speaking on the incident, the chairman of the council, Comrade Suleman Bagudu ,said Mr. Alfred has been transferred to central hospital for proper medication.

    While calling on the security agencies to carry out painstaking investigation about the attack, Bagudu said his aide was ambushed at the gate of his house in Fugar.

    Edo State commissioner of Police, Alhija Olayinka Balogun, confirmed the incident. The commissioner said that the people that shot Alfred are suspected to be cult boys and the command are doing everything possible to get them.

    He however said that the victim is responding to treatment very well.
