    Magixx reveals why breakout artists are becoming rare

    Nigerian singer Magixx has expressed frustration over the hurdles faced by emerging artists in gaining recognition, claiming that top positions on Apple Music charts are ‘being bought’ rather than earned through talent or organic popularity.

    Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Mavin Records act alleged, “Just so y’all know, the reason why we don’t have enough breakout artists these days is because almost every spot on Apple Music is bought.”

    Magixx also criticised fellow artists for faking their streaming numbers and misleading their families about their musical success. “Y’all faking your numbers. I hope you sleep well at night… Keep deceiving your family members,” he added.

    Rapper Blaqbonez backed Magixx’s claims, describing the trend as damaging to the integrity of the Nigerian music industry.

    Corroborating his statement, rapper Blaqbonez wrote, “The irreversible damage we’ve done to our industry, one day it’d finally come crumbling down. For now, let’s keep acting like the charts mean anything more than a showcase of the people who can afford to buy it; it’s like iTunes in the 2000s all over again. Make I go hustle”.

    He added: “Ayra’s hot body never enters the top 10 NG, when we know that song should be number 1 or top 3, but how dem go let me, when she never does industry agriculture”.

    Afrobeat singer Magixx has stated that fear of embarrassment can hinder one’s chances of achieving success. 

    In an interview on HipTV Trending, he argued that many individuals fail to utilise their potential due to the fear of making mistakes and being judged. 

    According to Magixx, those who are afraid of embarrassment will never reach their full potential.

    He emphasised that people in the limelight have earned their spots and are deserving of their success. 

    He believed that talent isn’t abundant outside of the entertainment industry, but rather, many people mismanage their potential due to fear and lack of confidence.

    According to him: “People always say there is somebody better out there. But, there is nobody better out there. The reason why that person is in that office is in that office is because that person deserves it. That person is the right person for the job. God doesn’t make any mistake.

    “People say talent is plenty outside. Talent isn’t plenty outside. If Talent was plenty, they would have seen the talent. A lot of people mismanaged their blessings [potentials]. If you’re afraid of embarrassment you will never make it in life.”

    Afrobeats singer Alexander Adelabu popularly known as Magixx has shared how he became a part of Mavin Records.

    According to Magixx, he contacted someone to help him find a manager that will help him navigate his music career and gain more exposure.

    During the search, Magixx said that Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, reached out to him.

    Magixx in an interview with Adesope, revealed that he wasn’t initially looking to join a record label, but rather seeking someone to manage his career and book shows.

    After a while, the ‘All Over’ crooner said he received an offer from Mavin Records in September or October 2020 and eventually signed a contract. Interestingly, he was the last artist to join the label.

    Magixx said: “I reached out to someone that I need person wey go dey manage me, wey go help me, because really tight that time. He reached out to couple of people that was how Don Jazzy happened. I was just looking for a manager. I wasn’t even thinking about record label. I was just thinking of someone that could put me on shows for the world to see my talent.

    “I got reached out to in September/October 2020, and I got offered a contract. I was the last to come in. They were going to unveil Ayra Starr that September, but because of 2020 COVID, they pushed her unveiling to January and every other person were unveiled thereafter”.

    Nigerian singer and songwriter, Alexander Adelabu aka Magixx has revealed why he is aspiring for big things in his career.

    The Mavin Records signee, in a recent chat, who once said music has always been around him, said, he is aspiring big things in order to get a better life for himself.

    “If you want better stuff for yourself, if you want a better life for yourself, you have no choice but to work your way up. And a very fundamental part of that is to aspire for big things. I dream big. I want everything. I want stadiums; I want big collaborations. I want to be everywhere. I want to tour the world. I want to impact people’s lives with my music. I want everything that looks like it’s not possible,” he said.

    The 25-year-old singer, who spoke about his inspirations and versatility, said he listens to various genres of music, hence, the source of his versatility.

    Nigerian singer and songwriter, Alexander Adelabu aka Magixx has revealed that he had always wanted to do nothing but music all his life.

    The Mavin Records signee, in a recent chat, said music has always been around him.

    He said, “Music has always been around. I’ve never really [known] any other thing that I wanted to do outside of making music. I’m so happy that things worked out the way they worked out. There’s nothing better than doing what you love.”

    On his inspirations and versatility, the 25-year-old singer said he listens to various genres of music, hence, the source of his versatility.

    “I’ve always loved to make music, aside from just R&B. I’ve always loved to listen to different genres. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Fela Kuti, and Lagbaja. So it’s a wide range. And hip-hop music—Drake and Lil’ Wayne, down to Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy. All these people inspire my music. I can see this vast flexibility. They have this flexibility in their sound. Even Michael Jackson—[it’s] like they can make so many types of music. And that kind of inspired me to also spread my wings because I want to be able to tap into different levels of artistry, and different levels of making music.

    “I’ve loved global music from the jump. I’ve always loved global music. So that’s why I try, as much as possible, to do what I want, to be on different types of beats, and different types of sounds. And it’s still all me. I just bring myself. I just bring myself to this sound. It’s still Magixx,” he said.

    Singer Magixx has revealed the last track on his incoming album ‘I Dream In Colour’ was inspired by a childhood friend who threatened his life.

    “The last track on my album was because of my childhood friend that threatened to get me killed,” he wrote on X.

    Magixx also said the track three song is dedicated to his three girlfriends. 

    He expressed love for the three women, referring to them as his “amazing three girlfriends.”

    Mavin Records signee Magixx revealed his fear of idleness during a recent podcast appearance. The rising star admitted that he panics most when he finds himself doing nothing.

    “I love being productively busy and doing things that will help my life get better,” Magixx shared. “I feel like I’m winning as long as I am doing something, and that’s when I’m mostly at peace. But when I’m at home doing nothing, I panic if I’m not doing something that is adding to my life.”

    Magixx also distanced himself from comparison with label mates, Rema and Ayra Starr noting that he isn’t under any form of pressure.

    “The only reason why I got here is because I believe in myself. The devil always has a way to make you feel like you’re not doing enough or maybe you’re not as talented as you think so it’s up to you to be smart about it. I feel like I’m going to set myself bigger than what anybody has set.”

    Singer Alexander Adelabu popularly known as Magixx, has expressed the challenges he faces as a celebrity. 

    The Mavin Records signee revealed that his hectic schedule and the need to meet public expectations put him under immense pressure.

    Magixx highlighted the various aspects of his life that are affected by his celebrity status, including public acceptance, family issues, self-improvement, and meeting public demands.

    He emphasised the enormity of his responsibilities, ranging from songwriting to video calls, family obligations, romantic relationships, and weekend performances outside Lagos.

    The singer lamented the constant need to present a new image, stating that he cannot repeat the same outfit on social media. 

    He emphasised that the pressure is unique to artistes and not experienced by the general public.

    Magixx said: “There’s a path to every great person’s destiny. And in figuring out the path, I learned that you’ve got to go through this… I was dealing with public acceptance, family issues, accepting where I am at to improve myself, and still meeting public demands.

    “It’s a whole lot. You’re still the songwriter, you’re still the person who’s going to show up for video call, you’re still the person who’s going to pick your family’s call. You’re still the person who has a love interest, you’re still the person who’s going to fly out every weekend outside Lagos to perform for people. It’s a lot but people don’t even know. People don’t know that I can’t repeat the same cloth. For instance, this is the last time you will see the outfit I’m currently wearing on social media. I’ve to think about the cloth to wear everyday. Normal people don’t think about those things.

    “It’s a lot of pressure on artistes but people from outside don’t see that”.
