Pogba shows off new burning’ haircut

Manchester United star Paul Pogba seems to be coping with his Premier League suspension just fine as he revealed his new haircut on Thursday.

Pogba was banned for three games after appearing to stamp on Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin in the 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium.

The influential midfielder has since missed United’s defeat by Manchester City at Old Trafford and the win over Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old will also be unavailable for the trip to West Brom at the weekend, but he will be free to play in United’s League Cup quarter-final tie against Bristol City.

Pogba, who usually gets a new haircut for an upcoming fixture, decided he didn’t need an excuse this time.

The United star posted an image of his new style on his Instagram page for his 19.6million followers to enjoy.

His new haircut his two sides to it. On the right side of his head his hair has been coloured a bright orange, while on the left side there is a new pattern for his fans to gaze at.

‘Hair is burning,’ Pogba wrote along with the two images, before making sure to tag in Chessington-based salon A Star Barbers.

Who knows whether Pogba will opt for a new style ahead of the match with Bristol City or the league game with Leicester City on December 23.

Tunnel fracas: Man United, City get Friday deadline

Manchester United and Manchester City have been given extra time to provide their observations following reports of an incident after Sunday’s Premier League game.

They now have until 6pm on Friday, the Football Association has announced, to provide an explanation for what happened during a tunnel altercation after City’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

It is understood the FA has extended the deadline by two days because they are mindful of Wednesday night’s Premier League fixtures.

Leaders Manchester City are at Swansea City, while second-placed United host Bournemouth.

Jose Mourinho was irked by the loud music and celebrations from Manchester City’s open dressing room as he made his way to his post-match press conference and an altercation followed when he made his feelings known to City goalkeeper Ederson.

Jose Mourinho walked out of his Manchester United press conference after being questioned about his role in the post-match fracas after the Manchester derby.

The United boss then had a carton of milk thrown towards him from inside the dressing room which hit one of his backroom staff, according to Sky sources, while Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta suffered a cut to the head in the incident but no punches were thrown.

It is understood United were surprised at the manner of City’s celebrations after the full-time whistle.

The incident was not included in referee Michael Oliver’s match report, prompting the FA to investigate.

Jose Mourinho accused Manchester City’s players of a shortage of education and class after breaking his silence on the Old Trafford tunnel bust-up.

The Man United boss claimed Pep Guardiola’s Blues showed a lack of respect with their celebrations in the away dressing-room following Sunday’s 2-1 win in the first vs second clash that gives them an 11-point lead at the top of the table.

Mourinho said Red Devils would not behave in the same way in that situation and claimed their respectful post-match celebrations following a 3-1 win at Arsenal the previous weekend proved his point.

Luke Shaw insists on £5m pay-off

Luke Shaw will look for a £5million pay-off if he is forced out of the door at Manchester United in January.

The youngster has plummeted down the pecking order at the club and has fallen out of favour with boss Jose Mourinho.

United are thought to be willing to pay Shaw £2m as a severance package but the figure is way off his own estimation.

The 22-year-old is fully aware that he will not be able to earn the £130,000 a week (around £7m-a-year) that he gets at United should he move to another club.

An Old Trafford source said, via The Sun: ‘Shaw will not make it easy for the club to show him the door in January.

‘The club have one figure in mind while he has another for severance pay. They are way off of each other.

‘He wants to get his career moving again, but he is not going to do United a favour if they do try to force him to leave.’

The club is looking to claim back some of the £30m they spent on Shaw with a number of clubs interested in the young defender, most notably Newcastle.

The Magpies initiated an enquiry into Shaw’s availability but bolted at the initial £20m price tag.

The England international has struggled with injuries at Old Trafford with Mourinho questioning his commitment.

Despite an impressive performance in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow, the club may look to cut their losses on Shaw after he failed to deliver on his potential.

United may be forced to offload Shaw on loan in January as they continue to ponder over his future at the club.

  • Manchester derby: It’s not about height says Jose

Manchester derby: It’s not about height says Jose

Jose Mourinho has dismissed suggestions that the Manchester derby at Old Trafford will be a battle of United’s giants against City’s genius.

City have been vulnerable at set-pieces in recent games and Pep Guardiola has told his players to restrict the number of freekicks they give away to a United side that could include a number of six-footers in Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chris Smalling, Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones.

When the height issue was put to Mourinho at his pre-match press conference, the united boss chose to look at the other side of the coin.

‘I think it will be easy for (Vincent) Kompany to compete against (Juan) Mata in the air,’ he said sarcastically.

Mourinho was reluctant to try and predict how the game would go, with many believing that United will be cautious and look to hit City on the break.

‘Football is unpredictable,’ he added. ‘You can try, me as a manager, I can try to define a game plan, to work in a direction but football is unpredictable.

‘We don’t know what can happen. There are so many things that are out of control that can totally transform the direction of the game. I wouldn’t risk saying what game we are going to have.

‘We are a better team than last year, no doubts about it, I think City is also a better team than last season. I think we can (win the league) but I think other teams can be champions.’

It is however good news for Man City as David Silva is set to feature in the Sunday showdown after returning from injury

The Spain international sustained a knock while scoring the winner in City’s late 2-1 triumph over West Ham in their last Premier League outing, missing the Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk as a result.

The news provides City with a major boost given the playmaker’s immense start to the season, setting up 10 goals in all competitions already.

“He is going to play,” Guardiola told reporters at his pre-match news conference, Friday he told me he feels really good.”

  • Manchester United accepts Pogba ban

    Manchester United accepts Pogba ban

Paul Pogba will miss Sunday’s Manchester derby after Manchester United decided not to appeal his three-game ban for his red card at Arsenal.

Pogba was dismissed in the 74th minute of Saturday’s 3-1 victory for his challenge on Gunners defender Hector Bellerin.

After the match, united manager Jose Mourinho expressed disquiet at the decision, saying Pogba was “frustrated” at the reaction of some of the Arsenal players to his challenge.

But former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher told Sky Sports: “Where he went was dangerous with excessive force.

Pogba created two of United’s three goals at the Emirates but he will now have to sit out Sunday’s crucial game against Manchester City – who went eight points clear of second-placed United when they beat West Ham 2-1 – live on Sky Sports.

The France international will also be banned for the visit of Bournemouth next Wednesday and the trip to West Brom on December 17.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says Paul Pogba has been in ‘phenomenal’ form this season

However, Pogba will be available on Tuesday night when United, who are looking to seal their place in the Champions League last 16, host CSKA Moscow.

Mourinho told the media on Monday: “He [Pogba] has just two days to recover for CSKA but he is very happy to play tomorrow and try to keep his momentum.

“Since he came back from injury, he has been phenomenal.”

meanwhile Michael Oliver has been named as the referee to take charge of the upcoming Manchester derby.

Old Trafford is set to play host to Manchester United and their rivals Manchester City on Sunday, in one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the season.

The two sides are currently battling it out at the top of the table, with United looking like the only realistic challengers to high-flying City.

Eight points separate the two sides after 15 games played, with City yet to taste defeat all season.

Oliver will be joined by his assistants for the fixture Gary Beswick and Simon Bennett, with Jon Moss the fourth official.

In previous derbies Oliver made the call to dismiss Chris Smalling – giving the defender his marching orders when the two sides met back in 2014.

For Sunday’s fixture United will find themselves without key man Paul Pogba, who will serve a ban following his recent red card at the Emirates.

  • ‘Giggs yet to apologise for sibling’s wife affair’

‘Giggs yet to apologise for sibling’s wife affair’

Ryan Giggs’ father Danny Wilson, 61, has accused the former footballer of ‘abandoning’ his brother Rhodri, 40, after having a secret eight-year affair with his sibling’s wife.

His affair with Rhodri’s ex-wife Natasha had emerged back in 2011, with the brunette bombshell then going on to star in Big Brother and revealing she enjoyed the ‘thrill’ of secretly having sex with Ryan.

Speaking out against the Manchester United star, Ryan’s father has claimed he has ‘no remorse’ over the fling and has ‘never said sorry’ to his brother for his wrongdoing.

Speaking to Daily Star, Danny revealed Rhodri was left devastated by the affair and still hasn’t moved on – six years after it was first uncovered.

He explained that Rhodri, now ‘penniless and homeless’, has moved away from Manchester to stay with family in Wales. Danny added that he can no longer bring himself to say son Ryan’s name, as he claimed: ‘If he would just apologise, Rhodri could move on.’

Ryan’s father claimed instead of apologising, the sports star instead told Rhodri his affair with Natasha was ‘only ever about sex’.

However, Danny’s comments come after it was reported Ryan had apologsied to Rhodri and phoned his brother ‘out of the blue’ in 2015, four years after news of his affair with Natasha came to light.

At the time, it was claimed the brothers were reconciling in an attempt to rebuild their relationship – with sources insisting Rhodri had put the betrayal behind him.

A source told The Sun: ‘Ryan rang Rhodri out of the blue a few weeks ago. Rhodri moved on a long time ago but was adamant Ryan had to make the first move as he was the one who had done wrong.’

The affair was first revealed in June 2011 when Rhodri’s wife Natasha admitted to secretly sleeping with the former star winger over an eight year period in an interview with a Sunday paper. She claimed she had aborted Ryan’s baby just weeks before she got married to Rhodri in Las Vegas.

Mata keen to extend long-term Manchester United stay

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is enjoying life at the club and says he is open to extending his four-year stay at Old Trafford.

The Spain international has made over 150 appearances for United since joining in 2014.

His contract expires next year though the club have the option to extend it until 2019.

“I‘m happy here. The club is massive, the support we have is massive. I’ve been settled down in the city since year one,” Mata, who has scored once in 13 appearances this season, told ESPN.

“I‘m 29 and hopefully I can play football for some more years. It would be great to play until I‘m 40 like Ryan Giggs. But that’s still a bit far, still 11 years.

“You never know what can happen in football and in life. But my feeling now is that I‘m happy here and I wouldn’t have any problem continuing here for more time.”

United, who are second in the Premier League, eight points behind Manchester City, host Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Lukaku to pay LA Police £340 for loud parties

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will avoid the prospect of jail time by compensating police in Los Angeles for their repeated call-outs over loud parties in the summer.

Police said they arrested the 24-year-old after responding to five noise complaints in as many days at a Beverly Hills residence where he was staying.

The parties were held while Lukaku was on the verge of a £75million transfer to the Old Trafford club from Everton.

The Belgium frontman will pay 450 US dollars (£340) to reimburse the force as part of a deal that will see the charge reduced from a misdemeanour which could have carried six months in jail, a Los Angeles court was told on Tuesday.

Commissioner Jane Godfrey, overseeing the case, said: ‘They are reaching a disposition in this case that the first thing that must happen is the defendant must pay Beverly Hills Police Department 450 dollars for multiple response calls.’

The city will then reduce the charge to a disturbance of the peace infraction, which carries a 100 dollar (£76) fine plus other costs and penalties, she said.

As a misdemeanour, the charge would have carried the maximum sentences of six months in county jail or a 1,000 dollar (£760) fine, the commissioner added.

James Eckart, for the city, and Lukaku’s lawyer Robert Humphreys accepted the arrangement.

The striker’s signing by Manchester United was completed around eight days after his arrest by the force at around 8pm on July 2.

Days after the incident, he shared on Instagram a picture of himself in an apartment in the city with united midfielder Paul Pogba.

The case will return to Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on December 18 when Lukaku’s lawyer is expected to pay the 550 dollars (£416) in fines and compensation, a 40 dollar (£30) fee as well as other undecided penalties.
