Igbo groups to IPOB, MASSOB: political leaders behind region’s woes

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) got a piece of advice yesterday – blame the political leadership of the Southeast for the region’s woes.

The advice came from two Southeast socio-cultural and political groups, the Igbo Peoples’ Congress (IPC) and The Igbo Aborigenes (TIB). The groups said IPOB and MASSOB should look inward for those who mortgaged their future.

They said: “The leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) AND Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to blame political leadership in Igbo land who have been pauperising Igbos over the years before blaming the North or other Nigerians for the Igbo woes.”

In a statement by their spokesmen Pastor Okey Colbert and Chidi Obisike, the groups noted that Igbo had occupied all positions, except the executive presidency, and this did not translate to anything positive for Ndigbo.

The statement reads: “During the Jonathan regime, Igbo constituted more than 50 per cent of his inner cabinet and yet nothing was brought for Ndigbo by these appointees, except their families, girlfriends and bootlickers.  It is these people that IPOB and MASSOB should first query before querying Nigeria.

“What about Ralph Uwazuruike who made Igbos to be the minority of the majorities, courtesy of preventing Igbos from participating in the 2006 National Census? Is that not affecting Ndigbo today and do we blame Nigeria also for that?

“What Nigeria has done to Ndigbo is lamentable but what Igbos have done to themselves is even more lamentable.

“How many times do our Igbo governors and leaders make concrete case to empower our suffering youths as Niger Delta governors and leaders strenuously made case for the amnesty deal which has now seen to the empowerment of more than 200.000 Niger Delta youths and their placement on a stipend of N65,000 every month?

“Who speaks for the suffering Igbo Youths in Nigeria and why would they not be agitating when they are abandoned by their own leaders and by Nigeria? Nnamdi Kanu and pro-Biafra agitators should ask themselves these questions and not just blaming Nigeria and the North for all Igbo woes.

“In the house of Ralph Uwazuruike today are all manner of state-of-the-art cars and he has luxurious estates everywhere at the expense of thousands of Igbo youths who were mowed down by Nigerian security forces in the Biafran agitation. Have IPOB AND MASSOB members looked into all these?”

“IPC and Igbo Aborigenes support Restructuring or Referendum in the alternative, but pro-Biafra agitators must ask relevant questions and put their searchlight on Igbo land first before looking outside.

  • MASSOB to Fed Govt: we’ll shake Nigeria if Kanu is arrested

MASSOB to Fed Govt: we’ll shake Nigeria if Kanu is arrested

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday warned the Federal Government that re-arresting pro-Biafran Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, will lead to an unprecedented crisis in the nation’s history.

Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested and detained by the Federal Government for alleged treason in 2015.

He was granted bail earlier this year with some conditions, including the restriction not to be seen in a crowd of more than 10 persons.

The government also said he must not address a meia briefing or grant interviews.

But Kanu has serially flouted the conditions.

He also backed a one-day sit-at-home protest by = Southeast and Southsouth residents to press home their demand for secession of Biafra to be carved out from the area two regions.

The sit-at-home protest was largely successful, especially in the five Igbo-dominated states in the Southeast.

But it has heightened the already charged political tension across the country.

Various groups, including the Arewa Youth Assembly, have urged security agencies to arrest Kanu for inciting statements calculated to overheat the polity.

In a statement by its factional leader, Uchenna Madu, MASSOB warned that the country may not recover from the crisis the action will generate, if Kanu is re-arrested.

The statement said: “MASSOB warns that any attempt or plan to re-arrest Kanu will be thoroughly and massively resisted. We can never tolerate it. It is an insult and embarrassment to our inalienable rights. We shall collapse Nigeria, if he is arrested.

“Now that we know that our consistency and exposure of the hidden truths is dangerously frustrating, disorganising and killing their age-long agendas against the people of Biafra, we shall never relent or surrender.”

  • Balarabe, MASSOB criticise anti-Igbo song

    Balarabe, MASSOB criticise anti-Igbo song

The production and circulation of an anti-Igbo song in parts of North is “embarrassing and unfortunate’’, a former old Kaduna State Governor Alhaji Balarabe Musa has said.

Musa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Kaduna that the content of the song did not reflect the true feelings of most northerners.

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) described the alleged hate as orchestrated out of jealousy and envy.

Musa described the promoters of the song, which calls for violence against the Igbo, as “criminals’’, whose objective is to threaten the peace and security in Nigeria.

The former governor stated that the song is a deliberate ploy by the originators to generate disaffection towards northerners.

He, therefore, urged the Federal Government not to take the issue lightly in view of the potential threat it constituted to the country’s peace.

“The song is not only embarrassing but unfortunate and capable of threatening the peace of the country.

“So, the Federal Government should act fast before the issue escalates so that we do not have a repeat of sad tales of history.”

The former governor, who said he would never support violence, criticised the October 1 quit notice given to Igbos by some Northern youths.

He said an insignificant number of youths could not have been speaking for the people of the North, “who are accommodating and peace-loving”.

But, MASSOB said it sees it as a sign of deep frustration and disorganisation on Arewa people and their leaders.

A statement issued by its leader, Uchenna Made said: “This uncontrolled and loosed frustration, envy and jealousy of Arewa people through another dimension of hate song is a clear and eloquent evidence that Nigeria is doomed and doomed forever, which can never be redeemed.

“They have further proved to the world that Nigeria is not and can never be one entity. We are Biafrans, Hausa Fulanis are Arewas while Yorubas are Oduduwas. We can never continue to deceive ourselves as if Nigeria is one because God did not create or establish us as Nigerians.

MASSOB welcomed the hate songs from Arewa people against the people of Biafra. We have listened to the song, we have it both in audio and script. MASSOB once again remind our people residing in Hausa Fulani land to immediately commence relocation back to Biafra land because a stitch in time saves nine.

  • MASSOB, BIM urge voters to ignore Kanu’s boycott order

The Delta South Zonal Chairman of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), Patrick Agwulobi, has urged Anambra State residents to ignore the call by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, that they boycott the November 18 governorship election in the state.

Agwulobi addressed reporters yesterday in Warri, Delta State, where the two pro-Biafran organisations advised Kanu to withdraw the order to prevent unnecessary bloodshed.

Kanu had vowed that he would stop the November 18 poll with his boycott order.

The development has been generating concerns mong Anambra State residents and other Nigerians. Agwulobi said Kanu needed to withdraw the threat to enable Anambra electorate vote for the candidate of their choice.

The activist noted that though IPOB and MASSOB were pro-Biafran groups, Kanu’s order that voters should boycott the election did not enjoy the blessing of MASSOB members.

He said: “Our idea is that we don’t want anything that will bring a problem or crisis. IPOB should withdraw the statement that ‘there will be no election’. We are also saying let us embrace the forthcoming election in peace. Kanu should retract the threat to avoid a conflict or anything that will throw Anambra State into a crisis.

“MASSOB/BIM is, therefore encouraging its members in Anambra State to come out en mass and vote for the candidate of their choice to enhance democracy and development of the state.

“He (Kanu) should know that boycotting the election would bring a crisis or conflict. We in MASSOB do not support such a threat. If he refuses to withdraw the statement, he will face the consequences alone with his supporters.”

  • IPOB members will boycott Anambra, 2019 elections if … – Kanu

IPOB members will boycott Anambra, 2019 elections if … – Kanu

The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, warned on Wednesday his members and other eligible voters in Anambra State would boycott the state gubernatorial election slated for November if the Federal Government fails to hold referendum before the election.

Kanu, who spoke at his father’s palace in Afara Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State, added that people of Southeast and others under the Old Eastern Region would not participate in the 2019 general election if the government ignores the demand for referendum.

He also faulted his exclusion from the ongoing stakeholders meeting in Aso Rock, saying he would not relent in his agitation for Biafra.

The IPOB leader said: “Nigerian government should build as many prisons as possible to jail all Biafrans because there is no going back and we are ready to go there (prisons) unless the federal government gives us Biafra.

“We are starting with Anambra come November this year. There will be no governorship election in Anambra State. In 2019, the whole of Biafra land will not vote for any President. There will be no Senator, there will be no House of Reps, there will be no House of Assembly and there will be no councillorship elections in Biafra land if they (federal government) fail to call for a referendum.”

He urged his members to remain steadfast and calm as Biafra remains their only hope.

“We are not like any other people. People like us don’t come twice. That’s why I know that with the last breath in this very body that Biafra will be restored. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. Tell them that’s what I said. Nobody on this earth can stop Biafra,” he added.

  • Northern youths write Osinbajo

    Northern youths write Osinbajo

    …say, Igbos unrepentant about Biafra

The Coalition of Northern Youths who recently issued quit notice to the Igbos living in Northern has again written an open letter to the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, saying that the Igbos are not repentant about Biafra.

The Northern Youths in the open letter jointly signed by ShettimaYerima, Joshua Viashman, Aminu Adam, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman and Nastura Ashir Sharif said, Igbos have declared full allegiance to a “Republic of Biafra” and continue to preach hatred and war virtually every day.

They said, “KANU and IPOB have declared full allegiance to a “Republic of Biafra” and continue to preach hatred and war virtually every day, and not for once did any Igbo leader call them to order. Instead, many of the leaders including Mr. Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president, the most senior elected Igbo, pay Kanu courtesy calls to prove that he is speaking for the entire Igbo. It is glaring to all that Kanu has serially breached all the terms of his stringent jail conditions in total disregard to the sanctity of our justice system”.

The letter read in full “APPRECIATION On behalf of this coalition and all the peace-loving people of Northern Nigeria, we begin this letter by commending your efforts towards finding a lasting solution to the lingering Igbo-induced crisis that is undoubtedly overheating the polity.

“We sincerely believe Your Excellency’s good intentions as shown by your prompt and genuine actions towards ensuring peace and stability in holding talks with leaders of the North and the South-East.   Though we do not doubt Your Excellency’s bona fide concerns for the peaceful resolution of the crises, we nevertheless have reservations as to the efficacy of this approach in ensuring lasting solutions.

“Our doubts are informed by the following historical antecedents that have characterized the behavior and conduct of the Igbo in Nigeria and previous efforts at containing them.

“PAST EXPERIENCES: The Igbo of Eastern Nigeria manifested their hatred for Nigeria’s unity barely five years after we gained our independence from the British when on January 15, 1966, their army officers carried out the first-ever  mutiny that marked the beginning of a series of crisis which has profoundly altered the course of Nigeria’s history.

“By that ill motivated, cowardly and deliberate action, the Igbo killed many northern officers from the rank of lieutenant colonel upwards and also decapitated the Prime Minister and the political leadership of the Northern and Western regions but left the zenith of Igbo leadership at the Federal level and the Eastern region intact.

“In line with the Igbo plan, General Aguiyi-Ironsi took advantage of the vacuum and, instead of returning power to the remnants of the First Republic government; he appropriated the coup and attempted to consolidate it for his people.

“Army officers of the Northern Region were eventually compelled to execute a counter coup on July 29, 1966 following a coordinated series of brazen provocations from the Igbo who taunted northerners on northern streets by mocking the way leaders of the region were slain by the Igbo. This unfortunately resulted in mob action which resulted in the death of many Igbos.

“And when Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon, from the North took over as Head of State following the counter coup, the Igbo through Lt. Col. Ojukwu, characteristically refused to recognize Gowon.

“Ojukwu declared the secession of the Igbo people from Nigeria and the formation of the republic of Biafra on May 30, 1967 resulting in a civil war that led to the tragic deaths of more than 2 million Nigerians.

“It is important to note here that the Igbo eventually capitulated and conceded defeat in an unconditional surrender, not an armistice,  on January 15, 1970 which renders any talk about Biafra at any other time,  a repudiation of the terms of that surrender signed by Phillip Effiong and other Biafran leaders.

“BIAFRA REINCARNATED: In a shot out of the blues, the Igbo have over the last 2 years regrouped and fiercely and openly started discussing Biafra again under Ralph Uwazuruike of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State Of Biafra MASSOB.

“This was given greater impetus by a more furious Igbo rogue group called the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu who even operates an illegal radio station spreading hate and war messages across the nation, calling other ethnic groups all sorts of names and threatening them with violent extermination.

“The activities of the Igbo under Kanu’s IPOB has grown exponentially ranging from ordering people of other regions out of the South East – particularly the Yorubas and Hausa /Fulani from the South West and the North respectively, to open declaration of the amassing of arms and forceful total shutdown of the entire South-East.

“KANU and IPOB have declared full allegiance to a “Republic of Biafra” and continue to preach hatred and war virtually every day, and not for once did any Igbo leader call them to order. Instead, many of the leaders including Mr Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president, the most senior elected Igbo, pay Kanu courtesy calls to prove that he is speaking for the entire Igbo. It is glaring to all that Kanu has serially breached all the terms of his stringent jail conditions in total disregard to the sanctity of our justice system.

“Even the latest statement by the South-East Governors Forum signed by Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State in a response to the Northern reaction, did not condemn Kanu and Uwazuruike but characterised their action as “peaceful”.

“While all this is going on,  neither the Igbo political and cultural leaders nor other regional leaders of the North or West nor the international community or any religious body ever found it necessary to call these renegade groups to order or in the very least admonish their leaders to do so.

“Furthermore, none of the Igbo leaders holding various positions in this government ever disowned IPOB or condemned its operations until lately with Governor Rochas Okorocha’s mild condemnation after the Kaduna Declaration by our Coalition .

“GROUNDS FOR SUSPICION: Given the unrepentant antecedents exhibited by the Igbo as highlighted above,  we strongly believe that the gruesome picture that the Biafran agitation represents is beyond a few people showcasing to Your Excellency that the Igbo will eventually heed the call for peace and desist from their dangerous campaign against Nigeria.

“The seed of hate planted in the name of Biafra is evidently so deep that the ongoing interaction between you and the leaders from the South East cannot in our well informed opinion douse or address the underlying deep seated underlying problems.

“We base our concerns on the following grounds. Despite the fact that the Igbo have been the most accommodated and tolerated of all the ethnic groups of Nigeria, the renewed incessant, spiteful and vile threats and insults on Northern leaders and their people, culture and religions that are the targets of this venomous agitation for Biafra,  can hardly be addressed through a series of two hours dialogues.

“As if to prove this, barely hours after Your Excellency’s meeting with the South-East leaders, the Biafran Igbo openly disowned the leaders and dissociated themselves from the meeting.

“More disturbingly, Kanu has openly claimed that the Biafran agitators have amassed arms in readiness for a war of secession which is quite conceivable given the fact that since 2009, catches of dangerous weapons routinely smuggled into the country and occasionally intercepted  by the Nigerian authorities , were all traced to Igbo sources.

“The situation continues to be baffling and alarming and therefore unacceptable – especially with the Igbo political and opinion leaders openly legitimizing the violent comments, insults, threats, hate speeches and call to anarchy that the Biafrans led by Nnamdi Kanu are making against the North and the Nigerian state in general.

“South-East leaders have instead, enthusiatically given Kanu the platform, patronage and symbolic legitimacy through an ignominious display of homage, reception and open embrace.

“OUR CONCERNS: Concerned by the fact that the Biafrans have confessed to arming themselves for a violent breakup,  we feel that it is risky for the rest of the country particularly the North to go on pretending that it is safe for us to co-habit with the Igbos given how deeply they are entrenched in our societies .

“And since evidently the Igbo have not been sufficiently humbled by their self-imposed bloody civil violence of 1966, we are strongly concerned that nothing short of granting their Biafran dream will suffice.

“And since the Igbo have virtually infiltrated every nook and cranny of Northern Nigeria where they have been received with open arms   as fellow compatriots, we strongly believe that the region is no longer safe and secure in the light of the unfolding threats and the fact that for a long time,  the Igbo have gone to extra ordinary lengths to ensure that in their domain in the South East, Northerners and Westerners are as much as possible disenfranchised from owning any businesses whereas in Kano alone, they own not less than 100, 000 shops across all the business districts.

“That since the younger generation of Nigerians makes up for more than 60 percent of the nation’s population, it is our hope that they inherit this country in better shape so that they can build a much better future for themselves and their off springs in an atmosphere that is devoid of anarchy, hate, suspicion and negativity that characterize the polarized, and clearly irreconcilable differences forced on us by the Biafran Igbos.

“To make a bad situation even worse, their leaders have continued to show support for  this treacherous cause and thus giving credence to our concern that what they say against us is what they truly mean and intend – “Kill everyone in the Zoo” (North). Your Excellency, we cannot afford to discard this as mere mischief as the utterances that caused the terrible Rwandan genocide still resonates in our minds.

“Lastly Sir, it is quite impossible to expect that other nationalities would simply stand by and watch while a certain ethnic group perpetrates all the above heinous misconducts that involve threats, call to violence and extermination, insults and songs of war without responding.

“OUR STAND: While we unequivocally restate that we are not waging war or calling anyone to violence, we nevertheless are also not willing to continue tolerating the malicious campaign and threats of war that the Igbos have continued to wage against us.

“Neither can we afford to continue giving the keys to our cities to a people whose utterances, plans and arrangements are clearly geared towards war and anarchy.

“We therefore demand that the only enduring solution to this scourge that is being visited on the nation is complete separation of the states presently agitating for Biafra from the Federal Republic of Nigeria through a peaceful political process by: 1. Taking steps to facilitate the actualization of the Biafran nation in line with the principle of self-determination as an integral part of contemporary customary international law.

“The principle of self-determination has, since world war II become a part of the United Nations Charter which states in Article 1(2), that one of the purposes of the UN is “to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples.

“We submit that this protocol envisages that people of any nation have the right to self-determination, and although the Charter did not categorically impose direct legal obligations on member States; it implies that member States allow agitating or minority groups to self-govern as much as possible.

“This principle of self-determination has since been espoused in two additional treaties: The United Nations Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights and the United Nations Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Article 1 of both international documents promote and protect the right of a people to self-determination. State parties to these international documents are obliged to uphold the primacy and realization of this right as it cements the international legal philosophy that gives a people the right to self-determination.

“As the Igbo agitations persist and assume threatening dimensions, we submit that there is need to ensure that they are given the opportunity to exercise the right to self-determination as entrenched under the aforementioned international statutes to which Nigeria is a signatory.

“PRAYERS: Aware that the right of self-determination in international law is the legal right for a “people” that allows them to attain a certain degree of autonomy from a sovereign state through a legitimate political process, we strongly demand for a referendum to take place in a politically sane atmosphere where all parties will have a democratic voice over their future and the future of the nation.

“The Igbo from all over the country and in the Diaspora should be advised to converge in their region in the South-East for a plesbisite to be organized and conducted by the United Nations and other regional bodies for them to categorically to decide between remaining part of Nigeria or having their separate country.

“That government should at the end of the plesbite implement whatever is agreed and resolved in order to finally put this matter to rest. Lastly, we pray His Excellency to study the references forwarded with this letter dispassionately and decide who is more in the wrong between those who openly pledge allegiance to a country other than Nigeria backing it up with persistent threats of war and those of us whose allegiance remains with the Nigerian state but simply urge that the secessionists be allowed to actualize their dream peacefully throw universally entrenched democratic options.

“CONCLUSION Your Excellency, we want to reiterate our high respect for your office and acknowledge the efforts you are making to lower tensions. We assure you, as well-brought up northerners, we listen to the advice and cautions of our elders, and in particular, their concerns that we do not create the impression that any Igbo or any Nigerian will be harmed in the North.

“We assure you that we will defend the rights of every Nigerian to live in peace and have their rights protected. While we do not see this clamour for Biafra as an issue over which a single drop of blood should be shed,  we at the same time,  insist that the Igbo be allowed to have their Biafra and for them to vacate our land peacefully so that our dear country Nigeria could finally enjoy lasting peace and stability.

“Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.

  • Quit notice: MASSOB insists Igbo should leave North

Quit notice: MASSOB insists Igbo should leave North

The Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday maintained its earlier call on Southeast indigenes in the North to return home.

This followed the ultimatum given to the Igbo by a coalition of northern youths to vacate the region.

It said anybody encouraging the Igbo to remain in the North was an enemy of Ndigbo.

In a statement at the weekend in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, by its Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, MASSOB regretted that Ndigbo have become endangered species through attacks and massacre.

According to the group, the north and east are like oil and water which cannot be mixed together.

The statement said: “MASSOB is maintaining its earlier stand on the quit notice given to Ndigbo in Northern Nigeria. We congratulate them for taking the bull by its horn.

“When a landlord is no longer interested in his tenants, the best way is to serve him with quit notice, instead of using thugs to eject him. The northerners have given us a quit notice; it is our duty to vacate their land without delay.

“It is better we part in peace than in pieces. The Bible says two cannot work together unless they agree. The North and East are like oil and water, which cannot be mixed. Our cultures and religions differ.

“We the Igbo value lives, we hate shedding of blood, but Northerners derive joy in shedding the blood of innocent people. Anybody encouraging Ndigbo to remain in the North is an enemy of Ndigbo.

“Since 1945 till today, Ndigbo has been at the receiving end. We are fully aware that Alhaji Ango Abdullahi and some other northern elders are the brains behind this threat against Ndigbo.

“Our governors should wake up and face these challenges without fear. Southeast governors should think back about what happened to Ndigbo.

“In 1945 and 1953, Ndigbo were massacred in Northern Nigeria. From 1966 to 1970, over 2 million Ndigbo were murdered in Northern Nigeria. In 1980 and 1994, many Igbo were slaughtered in Kano. In 1991, 2001, 2002, several Igbo were massacred in Kaduna and Kafanchan. In 2001 and 2008, some Igbo were killed in Jos, Plateau State. In 1996, Gideon Akaluka was murdered in Kano with his head cut off. During 2011 election, Igbo members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and civilians were killed in Northern Nigeria because the then President Goodluck Jonathan worn the election.”

    Obiano denies funding MASSOB, IPOB

Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has denied claims that he is among financiers of the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.

The governor described the allegation as the work of the opposition. He said there was no time he gave sport utility vehicle (SUV) vehicles or cash to the IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

A statement yesterday in Awka, the state capital, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, Prince Oliver Okpala, described as false the allegation that Obiano was funding IPOB and MASSOB.

It said: “Our decision as law-abiding citizens to play politics according to the rules and to eschew bitterness falsehood and indecent approach to political issues should not be taken for weakness, as nobody has monopoly to the articulation of dangerous propaganda as an instrument of political warfare.

“Certainly, if these pleas are not heeded, we shall not have any alternative than to return fire for fire, as a word is enough for the wise.”

  • IPOB/MASSOB defy rain to hold thanksgiving on Biafra protest

IPOB/MASSOB defy rain to hold thanksgiving on Biafra protest

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) on Sunday defied a heavy down pour in Abia State to hold a special thanksgiving ceremony.

The Nation was told that the thanksgiving service held at St Philip’s Anglican Church, Eziukwu Aba was to thank God for a successful sit-at-home protest in Aba and the State in general.

The church compound was filled with members of the Pro-Biafra groups cutting across various denominations who wore various Biafra insigma and carrying flags which they waved around the church premises throughout the hours that the service lasted.

They also described the present threat to re-arrest and detain their leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the federal government for allegedly flouting the bail conditions given to him by Justice Binta as plot by the federal government to silence them, but however stated that no amount of intimidation can stop the push for the freedom agenda.

According to them, re-arresting Kanu will further expose the weaknesses of the federal government and also confirm that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has evil plans against their leader (Nnamdi Kanu)

They warned federal government against re-arresting Kanu through a court order, saying that the group would not let that happen.
A respondent who identified himself as Ikechukwu said that the event was another remarkable day and event for the “Biafrans”.

Ikechukwu stated “we are grateful to God for the success of this event. We are thanking him for what he did on Tuesday and today, he has done more so we are grateful.

“We also thank the church that gave us the opportunity to use their premises to offer thanks to Chukwu Okike Abiama (Almighty God). They will reap the blessings of this wonderful gesture. Anything done for Biafra can never for unrewarded that is our belief and so it is.”

They also used the event to pray for the repose of the souls of departed Biafrans and also donated some cash for a widow of one of their slain member who they said died in active service for the sake of Biafra.

  • It’s a success, say MASSOB, IPOB leaders

MASSOB leader Uchenna Madu described the sit-at-home order as a huge success which he attributed to divine intervention.

”The honour and pride goes to the people of Biafra. The success achieved today is not a selfish pride for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu-led IPOB or Comrade Uchenna Madu-led MASSOB or any other group, it is an honour of the people of Biafra, it is an honour of the gallant and eloquent soldiers of Biafra and civilians that bravely laid down their lives for establishment of Republic of Biafra”

”It is an honour for Biafra school children, an honour to commercial cyclists, tricycles, buses and other vehicle operators, it is an honour to the cooperate firms/establishments that complied with the sit at home exercise”.

“The huge success is an express evidence that the coming Biafra referendum shall be a walk over against Nigeria state. The success is also a direct confirmation that lights and darkness can never walk together.”

IPOB also thanked the people for complying with the directive.

IPOB said the directive for the sit at home was given by Kanu while he was in detention at Kuje prison in Abuja.

A statement by Emma Powerful, its media and publicity secretary, said saboteurs have been put to shame.

The statement said:  ”We Biafrans have proven to the entire world that they need freedom and the world must know that we are not going back in the quest for independence of Biafra.”
