    Gov Otu promises to compensate Mayorkun for missing jewellery

    Sensational afrobeat singer, Adewale Mayowa, popularly known as Mayorkun has revealed that Cross Rivers state governor, Bassey Otu, has pledged to compensate him for his stolen expensive jewellery that went missing while he was performing in Calabar, the state’s capital.

    The Nation reported that Mayorkun had vowed never to come to the state again after his jewellery went missing during a concert in the state.

    Posting a photo of him performing at the concert, Mayokun wrote: “CALABAR, You’ll probably NEVER EVER see me again, good luck to the other artistes coming for your festivals tho. Nightmare is a better word! I just want to wake up from this dream bro.”

    However, in a tweet on Tuesday night, Mayorkun disclosed that he met with the state governor who assured him that the Calabar people are very hospitable and promised to compensate him for his missing jewellery.

    Mayorkun wrote: “Just met with the Governor of Cross River state, H.E Prince Bassey Otu. He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I’ll be compensated for my valuables lost. Thank you, sir.”

    Iyanya, later disclosed that one of the necklaces of his colleague, Mayorkun, which were reportedly stolen in Calabar, Cross River State, has been returned.

    The Kukere crooner pledged to give $500 to anyone who returns the second necklace, which has the inscription, ‘Of Lagos.’

    Popular singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known, Mayorkun has vowed never to step foot in Calabar after a bad experience in the state. 

    The former DMW signee, via his Instagram story and Twitter page, called out the state, promising not to perform there again.

    Though he didn’t disclose further, Mayorkun sent a message to other artists who would be performing at their festivals, wishing them good luck.

    Afrobeats sensational singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun has slammed fans demanding Christmas gifts from him, saying it isn’t their right. 

    Mayorkun emphasised that the day is solely to celebrate the birth of Jesus and not otherwise. 

    The singer shared his reaction on his Snapchat story after receiving a number of gift requests.

    He further dragged Muslims who have joined in demanding gifts from him claiming the birth of Jesus has nothing to do with their religion.

    Popular musician, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun has revealed why he didn’t associate publicly with his Nollywood actress mother, Toyin Adewale.

    Mayorkun, while speaking in a podcast with Taymesan explained the reasons he hid his mother’s identity for four years.

    He said being an actress’s son comes with a lot of fake love and unnecessary attention, so he decided not to be treated differently or be overly favoured.

    Speaking in a viral clip on the internet, the singer noted that when he was at the university, he never made it known that his mother, actress Toyin Adewale was a popular movie star.

    He said: “Growing up, my brother and I didn’t like the fact that our mom was a popular actress because we wanted freedom, but with her fame came fake attention and all.

    “I hated being treated differently, not because you like me but because I am Toyin Adewale’s son. Even in my university, people didn’t know she was my mother for four years. I was intentional about this.

    “My mum brought food to me at school once, and a girl saw her. I quickly ran to her to get what she came with just so no one else saw her.”

    Superstar singer and songwriter, Mayorkun has shared how things turned around for him and spurred his artistic prowess in music. 

    He explained how he almost lost a life-changing opportunity to meet with the multi winning singer, Davido

    Mayorkun discussed how he almost withdrew the cover video that made him famous and how releasing it on social media led him to Davido.

    The former DMW signee mentioned this in the recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, anchored by actor Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, aka Taymesan.

    He disclosed how he was working at a bank at the time in 2016.

    Mayorkun claims that he nearly destroyed a cover video he took of himself doing a piano cover due to his phone’s limited memory.

    He said while he was still employed at a bank, he made the decision to post it on Twitter rather than simply deleting it off his phone.

    As soon as the video went viral, Mayorkun was found by Davido, who signed him as a major artist for DMW Records.

    He said: “One of my mum’s friends gave me an iPhone 6 with a small memory size and I had that video on it and wanted to delete it to free up some space. Something told me to put it on Twitter and at least, e go dey Twitter if e no dey your phone.

    “I posted it and noticed my phone buzzing inside the bank wey I dey vex. It was one weekend I went to ACCA classes. Davido liked and followed.”

    Singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has insisted that his relationship with former record label boss, Davido, is still intact.

    Mayorkun, since exiting Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, hasn’t been frequent with posting the ‘Away’ crooner.

    Speaking in the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by actor, Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, aka Taymesan, Mayorkun said contrary to popular opinion, he and Davido have “one of the best relationships.”

    The ‘Mayor Of Lagos’ crooner said fans think they are not cool because he doesn’t flaunt his relationship with Davido on social media.

    He said: “Contrary to what other people think, I have one of the best relationships with Davido. I feel like he knows me and he understands the kind of person I am. If I dey vex for am now, he knows… Like do you understand? I’m not that difficult of a human being.

    “It’s just that I’m not posting Davido everyday, saying his my best friend that’s why some people think we are not cool. The relationship is not for you. You always forget that.”

    Mayorkun came into the spotlight in 2016 after he released a cover of Davido’s ‘The Money’ single which featured Olamide and was discovered by the singer on X (formerly Twitter).

    Davido signed him to his record label, DMW, where he released his debut single, ‘Eleko’ and became an instant star.

    Two years later, he won the highly coveted Next Rated category at The Headies which solidified his stardom.

    In 2021, Mayorkun parted ways with Davido Music Worldwide, DMW.

    Pop artist Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel aka Mayorkun has recounted how a fan chipped off his tooth while performing on stage, leaving him with a half tooth.

    The ‘Mayor of Lagos’ crooner said it happened in 2019 while entertaining fans at a show.

    He was responding to a curious fan who asked how he got a chipped tooth recently on Snapchat.

    Sharing a video of himself freestyling via Snapchat recently, the ‘Cheche’ crooner said Olamide inspired how he writes his music.

    Singer Mayorkun tackles govt officials on bad roads

    African pop artist, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel aka Mayorkun has called out members of the National Assembly to put in more efforts in fixing roads rather than spending money on extraneous things.

    Many have criticised the lawmakers for priposed procurement of 2023 model Toyota Prado SUV at N160m each.

    The Chairman, Senate Committee on Services, Sunday Karimi, justified the purchase of the vehicles in a chat with journalists, saying “Nigerian roads are bad.”

    Reacting via his Snapchat page recently, singer Mayorkun urged the lawmakers to fix Nigerian roads instead of buying vehicles for themselves.

    He wrote: “Road no good, una dey buy new SUV. Fix the f*king rooooadddddd!!!! Lekki Epe Express is Terrible!. Appalling sht. Nothing like I can drive’ in this country o, I sabi road’ is a better compliment.”

    Singer Mayorkun confirms relationship break up with British girlfriend

    Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel aka Mayorkun, has confirmed he is no longer in a relationship with his British girlfriend, Cocainna.

    The ‘Certified Loner’ vocalist said he is currently single, stressing that he and Cocainna parted ways because their relationship didn’t work out.

    He, however, said he is still cool with the British model.

    Mayorkun spoke in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, hosted by reality star, Tacha.

    “Are you in a relationship right now, Mayorkun?”, Tacha asked.

    Mayorkun: “No.”

    Host: “So what happened to you and Cocainna?”

    Mayorkun: “Life happened. But we are still cool. We are very cool. It’s just that you meet somebody it works out, you meet somebody it doesn’t work out.”

    The singer debunked claims that he is obsessed with dating London girls, explaining that it was because he spends most of his time in the city.

    He added that “nothing special but London has my heart.”

    Recall that Mayorkun and Cocainna sparked relationship rumours last year after the UK dancer and influencer took the singer on a date in London.
