Mbappe remains doubtful  for France remains unclear

France forward Kylian Mbappe is continuing to recover from his broken nose even though it is not yet sure whether he will play on Tuesday in his side’s last group game at the European Championship, coach Didier Deschamps  has said .

Deschamps kept his cards close to his chest on the French Telefoot television programme, declining to say if Mbappe would feature against Poland in Dortmund but offering reassuring news for supporters about the recovery of his captain, who fractured his nose last Monday in their opener against Austria.

“You will see (whether he plays or not) but everything is going in the right direction, he is recovering from the blow, the bruising is decreasing every day, and he will get used to his mask. He is doing well,” Deschamps said.

Following the 0-0 draw against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday, when Mbappe stayed on the bench, there has been much analysis in the French media over the team’s attacking prowess, or sudden lack thereof.

France’s only goal in their last three outings was an own goal by Austria’s Maximilan Wober in their opening Group D encounter in Duesseldorf.

But Deschamps gave nothing away when asked if he might freshen up the attack, especially as France, with four points, look certain of a place in the last 16.

“I have planned a team which will ensure qualification and the best possible finish in the group. We will always hope to get a little more recovery (for some players). You deduce from that what you want”, he said.

Mbappe’s team mates, at a press conference yesterday, suggested the 25-year-old attacker was eager to play, especially after an hour on the field on Saturday in a training scrimmage against a local academy team.

“When he was on the pitch, he was 100% at it, he is getting used to his mask and he scored,” said defender Jonathan Clauss.

“I think he wants to play the next match. He might like to play without the mask, but the doctor isn’t going to give him the choice,” added midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Mbappe demands €100m from PSG ahead Real Madrid move

Kylian Mbappe is looking to receive €100m from Paris Saint-Germain regardless of his exit to Real Madrid.

Mbappé has demanded €100 million from PSG for unpaid bonuses and salaries and this amount covers wages owed for April and May.

PSG also appears reluctant to pay his June salary or a pending loyalty bonus. Mbappé filed his claim through the French league, citing Article 259 of the professional football charter, which stipulates that “clubs must pay salaries to players by the last day of each month.”

Mbappé and PSG have not ended their relationship well. The way the club and president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi bid farewell to the new Real Madrid player shows the differences they’ve had.

One major issue is the financial amount both the player and the club are claiming from each other to finalize the separation. According to L’Équipe (h/t Diario AS),

Minister lauds ‘exemplary’ Mbappe French  election plea

France’s sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, on Monday hailed as exemplary a statement by football superstar Kylian Mbappe urging voters not to back extremes in snap elections called by President Emmanuel Macron to combat the far right.

Mbappe, representing France at the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, said he was “against extremes and divisive ideas” and urged young people to vote at a “crucial moment” in French history.

The comments from Mbappe, 25, one of the icons of modern France, have sparked a stream of controversy, with figures on the right warning him against interfering in politics.

“Kylian spoke in an absolutely exemplary manner yesterday (Sunday). He wanted to speak to young people at a totally unprecedented and decisive moment for the future,” of the country, said Oudea-Castera.

France’s men’s football team has long been seen as a beacon for diversity in the country. The French Football Federation has urged against “any form of pressure and political use of the French team”.

“I hope I will still be proud to wear this shirt after July 7,” said Mbappe, referring to the second round of the elections.

The striker defended comments made on Saturday by his teammate Marcus Thuram, saying he “had not gone too far” in calling on the country “to fight every day to stop” the RN winning the elections.

“Today we can all see that extremists are very close to winning power and we have the opportunity to choose the future of our country,” Mbappe said.

On Sunday, several dozen French sports personalities including tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and athlete Marie-Jose Perec also called for a vote against the far right, in an op-ed for L’Equipe sports daily.

“We see that our athletes want to make their voices heard,” added Oudea-C

Real Madrid attacker Kylian Mbappe has  said “things and people made me unhappy” at Paris Saint-Germain before he signed a five-year deal with the Spanish club.

France’s Mbappe, 25, will join the La Liga champions for next season in a long-rumoured move having spent seven campaigns in the French capital.

During PSG’s tour of Japan and South Korea last summer, the club’s management threatened to ban Mbappe from playing after he had told them he was planning on leaving the Parc des Princes this year.

“I was told that, I was made to understand that, I was spoken to violently,” Mbappe told reporters ahead of Les Bleus’ friendly with Luxembourg.

“At PSG I wasn’t unhappy, that would be biting the hand that feeds you, and spitting in the face of all the people who defended me, but things and people made me unhappy,” he added.

Mbappe left PSG at the end of the season having lifted the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup under Spanish coach Luis Enrique and advisor Luis Campos, who he also worked under while playing for Monaco.

Madrid announced Mbappe’s arrival two days before Les Bleus’ game against Luxembourg in the northern French city Metz, their penultimate match ahead of their Euro 2024 opener against Austria on June 17.

“I have a responsibility as captain. I think it overshadowed the national team,” Mbappe said. “I will only answer questions about the national team, I wish to protect them.

“We have a big summer ahead of us,” the 2018 World Cup winner added.
