The garden city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State is already vibrating and anticipating in what is being described as one of the largest outreach crusades ever held in the state.

The highly anticipated humanitarian and evangelistic movement founded by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW) will be holding its crusade in the state with leading gospellers as headliners.

Speaking at a press briefing, Pastor Ashimolowo said the vision for CCRW grew out of years of ministering in remote African communities, especially in Ghana, where he visited repeatedly for eight years. After months of prayer, he said Port Harcourt was chosen as the next location under the theme: “Port Harcourt, This Is Selfless Love.”

“CCRW began in Ikorodu in 2023, expanded to Ibadan in 2024, and now lands at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium from November 24–29, 2025. And to bless the souls of PH with soul lifting performances are Laolu Gbenjo Chioma Jesus, Mercy Chinwo, Lillian Nneji, Sensational Bamidele, Testimony Jaga among others,” Ashimolowo revealed.

Ashimolowo revealed that the Port Harcourt edition is the most expensive yet almost four times the cost of the first outreach and twice the Ibadan budget. The medical component alone will run for three weeks across major hospitals, including the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, and several PHCs.

According to him, 1,130 surgical cases including thyroid, fibroid and cataract cases have already been screened, with 70,000 people expected to benefit from the medical services.

He praised the Rivers State Government for what he called “unprecedented cooperation,” especially in hospital deployment and support staffing.

On relief support, he listed the staggering quantities to be distributed: 150,000 bags of rice, 150,000 bags of beans,150,000 packs of garri, 100,000 noodles, 20,000 packs of salt, sugar and oil, 20,000 bags of soap, 170,000 clothing items, including 10,000 Ankara wrappers, 25,000 buckets and 1,000 mattresses for the elderly.

Distribution will be strictly organised with coupons collected on Monday, November 24. The stadium will also be divided into sections based on gender and age groups to maintain order.

Over 9,000 volunteers have been mobilized, and 150 buses are set to convey people from rural communities such as Ogoniland, Ahoada, Igwuruta and Oginigba. Campgrounds have been secured for visitors travelling from remote areas.

Beyond the humanitarian efforts, Ashimolowo emphasised that the heart of CCRW remains evangelism. The goal is for 30,000 people to commit their lives to Christ, with nightly sessions featuring prayers, healing and miracles.

Security has also been stepped up with 300 police officers and soldiers deployed for the six-day programme.

A ministers’ conference will run alongside the crusade, featuring speakers from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe and the United States, including Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Dr. Festus Adeyeye, Jonathan Shuttlesworth and Rev. Steve Mensah.

Mercy Chinwo’s husband celebrates singer’s 200 million Spotify streams

Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, husband of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has celebrated her milestone of surpassing 200 million streams on Spotify, attributing the achievement to her obedience to God’s will.

In a post on Instagram, Uzochikwa reflected on her musical journey, recalling that after winning Nigerian Idol in 2012, she had opportunities to pursue a secular music career but chose instead to wait on God’s timing.

He noted that the decision required a four-year wait, but it eventually paid off, as seen in her current success.

Pastor Blessed stressed that “God’s will always prevails,” describing Mercy’s story as evidence of the reward of faith and patience.

He encouraged fans to remain steadfast, adding that choosing God might sometimes feel like a delay, but it is never a waste.

Blessed wrote, “I got tagged on a post about @mercychinwo crossing 200M streams on Spotify. Honestly, I wanted to scroll past, but I felt led to share this.

“In 2012, when she won Nigerian Idol, she had every chance to go secular. The fame was right there. But she chose obedience over compromise, and that decision cost her 4 years of waiting. It looked like a delay, but it wasn’t wasted.

“Today, we see the reward of that obedience. Scripture says: “Don’t get tired of doing good, at the right time you’ll reap a harvest if you don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9). Truly, “those who honor Me, I will honor” (1 Samuel 2:30). And we can boldly say, “overwhelming victory is ours through Christ” (Romans 8:37).

“Her journey is proof that God’s will always prevails, and that’s why her new album is titled “In His Will.” I encourage you to keep streaming and let the songs bless you.

EFCC drops Mercy Chinwo’s name from amended charges against EeZeeTee

In a dramatic twist to the legal battle involving popular gospel music executive, Ezekiel Onyedikachi, better known as EeZeeTee, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dropped its initial allegations of fraudulent conversion of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s earnings and instead arraigned him for non-disclosure of his company’s financial transactions.

The EFCC had earlier accused the Chief Executive Officer of EeZee Global Concept Limited of misappropriating proceeds belonging to Chinwo.

However, in a surprise move, the anti-graft agency yesterday filed an amended eight-count charge at a Federal High Court in Lagos, focusing instead on regulatory breaches of foreign exchange transactions and failure to report company earnings.

According to the new charges, EeZeeTee is alleged to have conducted unauthorised foreign exchange deals and failed to submit necessary disclosures to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML) between 2022 and 2023.

During this period, the company reportedly received a total of $255,436 in its corporate account.

    One of the charges reads:

“That you, Ezekiel Onyedikachi and EeZee Global Concept Ltd, sometime in June 2023 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, not being an authorised buyer of foreign currency appointed by the Central Bank of Nigeria under Section 5(1) of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, CAP F34 LFN 2004, negotiated a foreign exchange transaction to wit: the naira equivalent of the sum of $52,895 with Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke.”

The commission also accused EeZeeTee and his company of engaging in another forex transaction amounting to $18,775 with one Gift Ugochi Christopher, without using the official foreign exchange market.

Upon arraignment, EeZeeTee pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Lead defence counsel, Chief Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that a bail application had already been filed and served on the EFCC.

He urged the court to grant bail in liberal terms, revealing that parties were in active discussions to resolve the matter amicably out of court.

However, EFCC prosecuting counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, opposed the bail plea and requested that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the determination of the application.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke sought clarification on how the defendant appeared in court. In response, the EFCC’s counsel claimed an arrest warrant had been issued.

But Ojukwu countered, stating that his client had been granted administrative bail by the EFCC and had willingly appeared in court.

He further argued that the EFCC had not provided any evidence of a formal invitation that his client ignored.

Following arguments from both sides, Justice Aneke adjourned ruling on the bail application to May 9, 2025.

In the interim, he ordered that EeZeeTee be released to his counsel.

Tension heightened shortly after the court session when EFCC operatives made an attempt to rearrest the defendant at the court’s entrance gate.

The situation, however, was brought under control following the intervention of a senior EFCC official, allowing EeZeeTee to depart peacefully.
