    Bigshipment to launch mobile app

    Bigshipment Global Limited, a shipping and logistics company, has announced that it will launch its mobile app later in the month. The company explained that this is to increase its customer base and also to render seamless services to its existing customers.

    According to its Chief Executive Officer, Kelvin Ajuzie, the app is developed to be user-friendly as well as provide various range of services that will ease ways of shipping for their customers.

  • Leadway Assurance deepens penetration with mobile app

    Leadway Assurance has introduced a mobile insurance app that enables customers to transact all insurance businesses on their internet-enabled devices at their convenience. This initiative is part of the its drive to use technology to improve insurance penetration in the country.

    The app, called Leadway MyLife+, is available on both Google play store and IOS Apple Store. It is compatible with a wide range of smartphones and tablets.

    Its Chief Information Officer, Odalo Aimufia, said the app was designed to bring real value to the life experiences of users by providing a more convenient way to purchase and manage their Leadway Assurance policies.

    Aimufa said the new app has many features that offer the customer greater ease, convenience and opportunities for interaction with the Leadway brand at many levels.

    “The app has features that enable customers to track and manage their policies; lay complaints; report claims directly; buy Leadway policies directly; renew policies; request for agents; contact the Leadway customer services unit via WhatsApp chat, calls or e-mail; view and find branch locations via Google Map”.

    He further said as a firm passionate about using technology to drive insurance service delivery, Leadway’s evolving business and product focus placed greater emphasis on delivering satisfaction, happiness and fulfillment to the customer.

    He said: “The impact of mobile technology on the daily routine of millions of Nigerians is huge. It significantly influences how they receive information and the population of mobile phone users in the country keeps growing.   • Nine-year-old-girl develops website, mobile app

    A nine-year-old child and grade five pupil of Skycrest School Lagos, Miss Emmanuella Oziofu, has showcased  her  website, www.emmasacademy.com,  and her mobile app,  Emma’s ICT Academy.

    The occasion was at Ladi Lawal Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

    Showcasing her website and mobile app to journalists, Oziofu said they were created to  make the younger generation to develop interest and teach them about Information Communication Technology  (ICT).

    She said her mobile app is available for download on google play store.

    According to her, “the purpose of the mobile app is to teach the younger generation like me on the ICT skills I’ve acquired, the app is free and adults can also download and use it as well.”

    Oziofu, who possess uncommon intelligence and passionate about ICT, has diplomas in Desktop  Publishing, Advance Excel,  Adobe Page Maker,  Advance Power Point and Corel Draw.

    On her plans for the near future Oziofu said “My plans are to build some websites focusing on health,  offer free ICT training for children my age on Saturdays,  Sundays and during holidays.

    “I ‘m also planning a boot camp for young people in the near future. My target was to become a professional web designer and analyst at age nine and I have accomplished it,” she said.

    Oziofu said at the eight, she created three websites for her former school, Fortune Schools, Benin, Edo;  had her own chat site and  a personal website.

    She disclosed further that she was  on a quest to gain more knowledge  about programming languages and artificial intelligence.

    The Nation Online Editor,  Mr Lekan Otufodurin,  who was the chairman on the occasion,  said  young people  should be given the necessary support to develop their talents to put the country in a positive light.

    Otufodurin, who is also passionate about ICT, urged journalists to develop themselves and learn more about communication technology and multimedia skills to keep abreast of developments and at par with global trends.

    He stressed the need for journalists to stop content providers from taking over the profession, adding that this was the only way they could remain relevant in the profession.

  • Edmark launches mobile app for payment services in Lagos

    A health wellness and lifestyle company, EDMARK International Group of Companies on Monday in Lagos unveiled the future of digital payment in Nigeria.

    It launched EDpoints, a mobile application designed to connect  customers to distributors through a cashless mobile payment platform that embarks Matrix QR code technology for  customers’ seamless transactions.

    The new mobile app, which allows customers to do transactions digitally, is similar to mobile wallet where users securely keep their money and pay for shopping and utility bills in any of the company’s partnered distributors.

    It is invented by a subsidiary of the EDMARK Group, called Edmark2Everything (ED2E).

    EDpoints also offers a premium package tailored to suit consumers’ requirements, such as advertising services to enable users boost their ranking on the ED2E merchant listing, and an opportunity for business traffic and revenue to increase at minimal cost with a passive income through referral as ED2E member.

    Speaking at the unveiling of the mobile app at EDMARK’s new Corporate office, called D’Podium, at Aromire Avenue, Allen, Ikeja, Chief Operating Officer of ED2E Marc Richard Camaligan explained the new mobile will help users to make cashless transactions and give a unique experience to enable people to carry out seamless transactions with ease.

    He said ‘’the new ED2E mobile app leverages on technology to make our customers happy and enable them to take advantage inherent in Information Communications Technology that is ever growing in Nigeria. This is the beginning of a large platform that helps us connect to a large community.

    “The mobile app can be downloaded from the play store on any android phone; it makes purchase of products easy without having to carry large cash around. Currently the company has 450,000 Edmarkers and 11 branches in Nigeria, you see, this indeed is the beginning of much bigger platform to help Nigerians succeed’’ Camaligan, a Malaysian Citizen said.

    In his remarks, the Chairman and Founder of EDMARK International Group of Companies, Mr. Sam Low added that wealth could only be created when money flows and Edmark with the new mobile app has created a very simple way to shop for both users and merchants by getting 5% loyalty bonus on any purchase with the Endpoints.

    First Bank increases mobile app transfer limit to N1m

    First Bank of Nigeria Limited have increased transfer transaction limits on its FirstMobile Lifestyle app from N500,000 to a maximum daily limit of N1 million.
    According to a statement signed on Monday by the Head, Digital Banking at FirstBank, Mrs. Folasade Femi-Lawal, the bank will continue to leverage on evolving technologies to support consumers’ lifestyle.
    It stated also that N150,000 could now be transferred through the app to first bank account as well as to other banks accounts without the use of a token.
    According to the statement, the new plan is aimed at providing customers with a suite of financial options in a convenient and highly secure environment.
    “This development is expected to boost convenience and ease of banking as well as enhance customers’ digital banking experience in line with the bank’s commitment to offer value-added services.”

    A 12-year-old student, Tomisin Jasmin Ogunnubi, of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Oregun, Lagos, under the tutelage of an ICT partnership between the school and New Horizons Computer Learning Centre, has developed an Android mobile tracking application called My Locator.

    The app helps a user to know his geographic location, view it on the map and get appropriately directed. One of the other useful attributes of the app is that it is integrated with an alert button which when pressed in a distressed situation, calls the Lagos State emergency service number (767), and thereby gets the chance of being rescued from such threatening emergencies or conditions.

    The app is already uploaded online and readily available for free download in Google Store. The performance of the likes of Tomisin has confirmed that Nigeria is blessed with sharp and focussed youths who in future, will emerge as Nigeria’s industry captains that will become tomorrow’s entrepreneurial giants like Bill Gates, Mack Zuckerberg, Google Boys and others.

    While presentating the app, the school’s executive director, Mrs. Olufunke Fowler-Amba expressed joy that Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls has been living to its billing as a top quality and front row IT-driven school for many years. She said the achievement of Tomisin and many other students who have equally developed other IT solutions at different times are glaring testaments to the fact.

    She expressed satisfaction with the partnership her school has with international ICT firm, New Horizons, based in the United States, and world’s largest international IT skills and certification training organisation with presence in 80 countries.

  • Centre launches mobile app

    The only rape and assault referral centre in Lagos State, Mirabel Centre, has launched its new mobile application (app) at its Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja office.

    The app’s developer, Mr Steven Adegbite, of TECKANYU Solutions Limited, said he developed the app with permission from Mirabel Centre.

    He said his major reason for developing the app was to report fast which hopefully will help reduce rape in the society.

    According to him, those who commit rape can be reported instantly as the app allows one to take pictures and videos and send such to the centre so that they can quickly rescue the victim.

    Adegbite said: “There is also a place on the app that shows where Mirabel Centre is on the google map. If you are in Ibadan (Oyo State), just click on the direction and the direction will show you where Mirabel Centre is. So, you don’t need to ask any question to get to the centre.

    “There is another place for report issue, where you can send a photo or video. The report sent goes via mail to Mirabel Centre’s email.”

    The founder of the centre Mrs Itoro Eze-Anaba said the app was not for prosecution but for the public to access the centre without going through their websites.
