    Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj love African culture – Davido

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has stated that American artists Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj have a profound respect for Africa’s music and culture.

    In a recent interview with Hot 107.9 FM in Atlanta, Davido disclosed that both artists prefer to incorporate Afrobeats into their collaborations with him, rather than adhering to traditional Western styles.

    He said this was evident in his recent collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “If It’s Okay,” which features a strong Afrobeats influence.

    “My recent collaboration with Nicki Minaj, ‘If It’s Okay,’ has a lot of Afrobeats influence because she wanted full African flavour on it. These days, foreign artists want to do our musical styles, so it is easier for me to work with them.

    “When we were recording ‘Sensational’ with Chris Brown, I was trying to make it American, but he insisted I include Afrobeats. He asked me to sing in Pidgin. My dancers were the video vixens in ‘Sensational.’ They even went on tour with Chris Brown. Chris Brown loves African culture, and Nicki does too”, he said.

    Chris Brown, in particular, has demonstrated his love for African culture through his numerous collaborations with African artists, including Davido, Wizkid, Rema, Fireboy, and Lojay.

    He has also toured with Ayra Starr and South Africa’s Tyla, further showcasing his appreciation for African talent.

    She responded: “That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another

    “I asked him to be a part of it to bring out the Afro beats tempo/feeling in it a bit more. Nigeria to the world.”

    The collaboration is part of Nicki’s latest release, “The Pinkprint (Tenth Anniversary Edition)”, which features four new tracks, including “If It’s Okay” with Davido and David Guetta.

    Nicki Minaj arrested in Amsterdam over alleged ‘weed’ possession

    Renowned American rapper, Nicki Minaj, was arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands while en route to a scheduled show in Manchester.

    Nicki Minaj was set to perform at Co-op Live.

    In a series of tweets on her X account on Saturday, May 25, she stated that police claimed to have found ‘weed’ in her luggage after a customs check.

    Sharing a video of airport officials searching her luggage, Nicki Minaj asserted that the entire incident was orchestrated by her enemies, using the police to obstruct her Pink Friday World Tour and her performance in Manchester.

    She wrote: “They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour b/c soooooo many people are mad that it’s this successful & they can’t eat off me. They got caught stealing money from my travel jets. Got Fired. Got mad. Etc.”

    A few minutes later, Nicki also posted: “This is Amsterdam where weed is legal.”

    About an hour later, Nicki also reiterated the police’s claim that weed had been found in her luggage, saying, “Now they said they found weed & that another group of people have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls. Keep in mind they took my bags without my consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to the. Oh yeah, & the pilot wants me to take my IG post down.”

    US-based Trinidadian-born rapper, Nicki Minaj has broken the record for the highest grossing tour by a female rapper in history.

    According to American statistics company, Touring Data, the hip-hop star also broke the highest-grossing concert by a female rapper in history, with $2.858 million at Madison Square Garden in New York on March 30, 2024.

    Her ‘Pink Friday 2’ tour has officially become the most successful tour by a female rapper, grossing $34.9 million from 220,000 tickets sold in its first 17 shows.

    “@NICKIMINAJ’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ officially became the most successful tour by a female rapper in history, with $34.9 million from 220,000 tickets sold in its first 17 shows,” Touring Data tweeted.

    She earned $34.9 million from just 30 percent of the tour, she is expected to gross $100 million at the end of the tour later this year.

    The Nation reported that the “Queen of Rap” said she would consider including Nigeria on her ‘Pinky Friday 2’ tour if enough fans showed interest after a Nigerian fan frowned at the exclusion of Africa from her world tour venues.

    Famous American rapper, Nicki Minaj has hinted to fans about possibly extending her world tour to Nigeria.

    The “Queen of Rap” said she would consider including Nigeria on her world tour if enough fans showed interest after a Nigerian fan frowned at the exclusion of Africa from her recently announced world tour venues.

    Sharing screenshots of the tour venues in other continents, the fan with the X handle @RamatVictory wrote: “Once again, African barbz (Nick Minaj’s fans) bite dust. Oh well.”

    Nicki Minaj’s verified X handle replied, “Abeg, sign up where it says (if you don’t see your city) so that when I get to Africa, your city/country will be there.”

    Elated by the response, the fan wrote under Nicki’s comment: “Abeg no vex Nicki, I no go complain again. Oya Naija barbz, make una go sign up sharp, sharp.”

    Nicki Minaj then wrote: “Naija no de carry last.”

    Nicki Minaj’s hubby under house arrest for threatening rapper Offset

    Following a breach of his probation terms, Kenneth Petty, who is Nicki Minaj‘s husband, has been sentenced to 120 days of home detention.

    The sentence comes after Petty violated his probation by sharing videos on social media that appeared to threaten rapper Offset.

    A court order issued on Wednesday in the Central District of California imposed a home monitoring injunction on Petty.

    This action was taken as he was recorded making threatening statements towards a particular individual while in the presence of someone with a criminal record.

    Offset happened to be the ‘specific person’ listed in the order, and the clips were related to a string of comments Petty made against the rapper on social media on September 16.

    Petty and a part of his entourage are seen outside of a New York City hotel, allegedly where Offset was staying, in the viral video clip that went viral on social media on September 16.

    Among other unsettling remarks Petty made in the clip was; “Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral pussy!”

    Cardi B’s rapper husband, Offset, was originally a part of the Atlanta rap trio, Migos.

    At the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party held in September 2018 during New York Fashion Week, Minaj and Cardi B got into a brawl. The two have been at odds for a while.

    During that time, a video that was being circulated online showed Cardi B thrusting towards Minaj and attacking her.

    Meanwhile, Petty admitted guilt to failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California in 2020 and was sentenced to three years’ probation in July 2022.

    He served four years in prison in New York following his 1995 conviction for the first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old female.
