  • Khloe Kardashian dismisses claims she was Tristan Thompson’s mistress

Khloe Kardashian has dismissed claims she was Tristan Thompson’s mistress when they first started dating.

Jordan Craig, who shares a two-year-old son called Prince with Tristan, filed a child support request last year, in which she named Khloe as the basketball player’s “mistress”, claiming the pair had started dating in 2016, when Tristan was still with her.

However, while not directly referencing Craig’s claims, Khloe took to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday to set the record straight about exactly when her romance with Tristan – the father of her 14-month-old daughter True – began.

“I need to say my truth. Take it as you will,” Khloe stated. “My truth is: I met Tristan because HE CHOSE to go on a blind date with me. A mutual friend set us up.

“After going on some dates, Tristan told me that he had an ex that was pregnant. Obviously, I was reluctant about us continuing to date or start a relationship.”

Khloe then continued to explain that the sportsman tried to persuade her that his relationship with Jordan was well and truly over.

“He had me talk with his most inner circle,” she said. “He showed me physical p(r)oof (correspondence between the two) and had me on calls with his lawyers to prove his point. His best friends, business associates and even his mother told me, him and his ex were broken up before we met.”

The mother-of-one added that while she believed Tristan and his nearest and dearest at the time, if they were lying to her then she is “completely and utterly sorry”.

“I pray my truth is in-fact that. Lord knows I pray but now, I really don’t know what to believe,” the 34-year-old explained. “Truthfully, from the deepest parts of my soul I am sorry! I’m sorry for any pain that has been created either way. No woman deserves to go through anything like this! This is my TRUTH.”

  • Untimely death of Abiola cuts our national hope, says Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, pro-democracy groups, activists, many trade unions and interest groups on Wednesday marked the June 12 Democracy Day in Abeokuta, the state capital, in memory of late politician, Chief MKO Abiola, and the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election.

Addressing thousands of trade unionists, pro-democracy groups and associations at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto – Abeokuta, after inspecting a march past organised to commemorate the day, Abiodun declared that the untimely death of Abiola in detention cuts short the “national hope” for an end to poverty and suffering as encapsulated in the “Hope 93 Manifesto.”

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr.Noimot Salako – Oyedele,
added that the commemoration of the June 12 anniversary and the transmutation of the date into the Democracy Day in Nigeria holds a special significance for Ogun State and her people, lauding President Muhammadu Buhari in honour done unto Ogun people with June 12 public holiday.

Abiodun urged Nigerians, particularly politicians and leaders to make the sacrifice of MKO Abiola count by continuing to enthrone good governance for the benefit of the people.

He said: “Since that moment and the subsequent events that attended the annulment of the Presidential election, June 12 has taken a life of its own and the date has continued to reverberate, even 26 years after.

“Today, we are gathered here to commemorate that date. Not only that, the date has taken on an added significance as it now doubles as the Democracy Day in Nigeria.

“The main actor and custodian of the mandate of the good people of Nigeria at the June 12 Presidential polls, late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (affectionately referred to as MKO Abiola), was not only an illustrious son of our dear State but also a successful businessman of international repute.

“It is, therefore, important to note here that the commemoration of the June 12 anniversary and the transmutation of the date into the Democracy Day in Nigeria hold a special significance for us here in Ogun State. For this special recognition of the date as the Democracy Day in Nigeria, I, on behalf of the entire good people of Ogun State, specially thank our dear President Muhammadu Buhari in the rotor’s for this honour done unto us.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, permit me to observe that the foundation for the 20 unbroken years of democracy we now enjoy in Nigeria was laid on June 12, 1993. We, as proud inheritors of that heritage, are most grateful for the labour be rotor’s he rotor’s if rotor’s of a new new new new late Chief MKO Abiola and the eventual sacrifice.

” When democracy berthed on our shores again on May 29th, 1999 after many years of military rule, it was not far-fetched to appreciate the significance of that special day of June 12, 1993. It is, therefore, important that we continue to remind ourselves of the experience before that day and how far we have travelled on our democratic journey into nationhood.

“The untimely death of the nationally acclaimed father of democracy and the symbol of that election, a son of the soil and our own brother, Late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who was incarcerated and imprisoned, cut short our national hope as encapsulated in the Hope ’93 manifesto.

“His death, as we are all aware, forced the military rulers to relinquish power and move back to the barracks. And, that gave birth to our present democracy. Though, as a mortal, we miss our hero and the opportunity he would have had, to refocus, re-orientate and redirect our politics, we are consoled by the fact that we have become direct beneficiaries of the process that he sacrificed his life for.

“For this reason, I charge all our political actors not to lose sight of the significance of June 12, 1993. So much labour and struggles have been invested in order to ensure the attainment and the survival of democracy we now enjoy.

” I urge us all to make the sacrifice of MKO Abiola count as we continue to enthrone good governance for the benefit of our good people. It is my earnest belief that we should, in our conducts and gestures, further give good expression to the wordings of our National Anthem that the labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain. It is in doing this that we can do justice to the memory and legacy of Chief MKO Abiola.

  • APC chieftain faults Appeal Court’s failure to sack Bulkachuwa

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Tuggar has faulted the refusal of the Court of Appeal in Abuja to uphold his appeal against a judgment affirming the election of Alhaji Adamu Bulkachuwa, husband of the court’s President, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.

The APC leader in Buachi State, who said he won the party Senatorial primary election in Bauchi North Senatorial district with 54,000 votes, was reacting to the Court of Appeal judgment of June 11 this year, which affirmed Bukachuwa’s election and upheld the April 18, 2019 judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Tuggar had, in his suit at the Federal High Court, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1240/18 claimed to have won the primary election, but that some forces within the party’s leadership chose to send Bulkachuwa’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s candidate.

He prayed the court to, among others, void his party’ decision and declare that he was the valid winner of the APC primary election and therefore ought to have his name forwarded to INEC as the party’s actual candidate for Bauchi North Senatorial election in the last general elections.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who delivered the Federal High Court’s judgment on April 18 this year, upheld Bulkachuwa’s preliminary objection, dismissed the suit on the grounds that it was statute barred.

Justice Ojukwu held that the suit, being a pre-election one, was not filed within the 14 days prescribed by the Constitution, noting that the suit was filed over 14 days after the primary was conducted.

Tuggar appealed the decision at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, arguing that the trial court misunderstood his grievance, because he did not challenge the outcome of the primary, which he claimed to have won, but the submission of Bulkacuwa’s name to INEC instead of his.

He argued that he filed his suit within time, prayed the Court of Appeal to reverse the decision of the Federal High Court and sack Bulkachuwa, requests the appellate court rejected in its judgment on June 11.

Justice Tinuade Akomolafe Wilson, who read the unanimous judgment of a three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, held that the suit was statute barred, having been filed outside 14 days stipulated in Section 285(9) of the 4th Alteration to the 1999 Constitution.

The Appeal Court also rejected Tuggar’s request to have the case heard on the merit, because the trial court only dismissed based on Bulkachuwa’s preliminary objection.

Justice Akomolafe-Wilson held that, since the 180 days within which a pre-election case must be determined by the trial court has elapsed, the Court of Appeal is not in a position to invoke its power to hear the suit on its merit.

“A time-frame is like an Iroko that cannot be moved. The appellant is praying the court to exercise a power it has no right to exercise. Once a matter is statute barred, it is dead. The statute of limitation removes the right of litigation,” the judge said.

Tuggar, while reacting to the judgment, insisted that injustice has been done to him by the leadership of his party, but that he was determined to challenge the case up to the Supreme Court.

In a statement he issued through his lawyer, Chike Okafor, Tuggar said: “I won the Primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bauchi North Senatorial district election with over 54,000 votes cast at the said Primary election.

“Immediately after the conduct and conclusion of the said election wherein I won, Adamu Bulkachuwa wrote a petition stating that Primary elections were not held in Bauchi North senatorial district.

“I waited for my name to be announced as the winner of the said Primary election without any success, I wrote a petition to the party (APC) when I heard rumours that my name was not going to be announced as the winner of the said election.

“The party (APC) assured me that my name will be sent to INEC as the Senatorial candidate of the party in the 2019 general elections. Consequent upon this, I was given a nomination form by the party to fill, which I did.

  • DSS arrests 3 activists, stop June 12 rally in Ibadan

Three activists working under a Yoruba socio- cultural group, Oodua Coalition Against Insurgency and Kidnapping in Yorubaland, have been arrested and detained by men of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) after dispersing the June 12 rally in Ibadan on Wednesday.

Scores of people arrived the venue of the planned rally early morning but were shocked as security operatives chased them, stopping the mass rally.

The group, an amalgamation of all sociocultural and self- determination groups in Yorubaland, had converged to discuss insecurity in the land, an event which they also want to use to celebrate the June 12 in the city.

The security operatives, in about five buses and clad in their black uniform, had arrived around 7am and condoned off the area, to wade off the rally.

Three people including sound system operator contracted to provide services at the event, were whisked away to the DSS office at Alesinloye headquarter of the service.

A public Affairs analyst and state coordinator of Oodua Coalition Against Insurgency and Kidnapping in Yorubaland and another lady activist simply identified as Princess Oyeronke were also arrested.

Confirming the arrests, the National Public Relations Officer of the Odua Peoples Congress (New Era), Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, decried the development he likened to the infamous happenstances during the military junta.

Akinpelu said: “We got all the necessary approval but we were surprised to see men of the DSS arriving much earlier, even before the coalition members, with the intent to stop the rally.”

He alleged further that the officials are still on the lookout for other notable leaders of the coalition for possible arrest and detention.

Akinpelu said the botched rally was tagged “O to Ge’ to commemorate June 12.

“It was called to address the issue of insecurity in the land and safeguard Yoruba people who are becoming endangered in the land through incessant kidnappings and wanton attacks on their farmlands.”

“We don’t want to take laws into our hands and that’s why we called the meeting to drum it to the hearing of Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari that aside declaring June 12 democracy day, he should also tackle the issue of insecurity in our land.”

He said all entreaties by leaders of the Yoruba Summit Group comprising representatives of Afenifere, Yoruba Council of Elders, Yoruba Koya Movement, Yoruba Unity Forum, Oodua Peoples Congress, Atayese and Voice of Reason, among others, fell on deaf ears of the security operatives who claimed to be acting on “orders from above”.

To prevent what could escalate into crisis, leaders of the various rallying groups prevailed on their followers not to overstretch the issue just as they dispersed only to reconvene at another location few hours later where they addressed a press conference on the state of the nation.

  • Ohanaeze hails FG for honouring Abiola, ask Ndigbo to forgive Amaechi

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has commended the Federal government for commemorating June 12 and making it a
Democracy Day as well as a public Holiday.

The organization noted that nothing was too small to remember those who laid down their lives for Democracy.

It suggested that those responsible for the annulment should be placed in the NIGERIA HALL OF SHAME while those that suffered the effect should be in NIGERIA HALL OF FAME.

In a statement by its deputy spokesman, Chuks Ibegbu, Ohanaeze noted that some elements around late Chief M. K.O. Abiola worked against June 12 and colluded with the Abacha junta to truncate the swearing in of the winner of the June 12 election.

It, therefore, praised President Buhari for this remarkable recognition but advised him to be a true Democrat and shed his military baggage.

The group also congratulated the former Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his repentance and penitence over his shocking remarks recently that Ndigbo has no right to insist on the 2023 Presidency.

It lauded Amaechi for his most recent comment where he showed remorse for the statement credited to him.

He called on Ndigbo to forgive him and remove his name from the IGBO HALL OF SHAME and called on Igbo political elites not to make disparaging comments against their race no matter the situation as Northern or Western and even Niger Delta elites can never do such.
