He said with the experience of politicians in the state executive, the party would do its home work and position itself for victory in the coming election.

Makinde said the executives would provide a level playing field for aspirants.

He added: “Let me tell the people of Oyo State that NNPP is ready to bring succour to them. We are not going to increase your hardship like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government is doing. Your welfare will be our priority.

2027: NNPP begins nationwide search for politicians

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has directed its state executive officers nationwide to immediately begin mobilisation of  politicians with capacity and integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections..

The party also directed the state executive  to begin membership drive and registration as well as updating its existing membership register.

This is contained in a statement by its Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr Boniface Aniebonam in Lagos on Friday.

Aniebonam stated that all state and local government executives of the NNPP must ensure that politicians they would accept into the party have verifiable records, integrity and honour.

“Our time was so taken in the leadership tussle between the NNPP and the Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso led Kwankwasiya Movement.

“The attempts to hijack the NNPP led to  litigations that affected our ability to participate in elections that held in the past.

“Now, that we are almost  done with the issues involved,  all hands must be on deck to advance the NNPP’s  primary objective to  enthrone good governance in Nigeria with the fear of God ,” Aniebonam stated.

According to him, existing members who are not willing to conform with the ideals of the NNPP are free to join other parties.

“We have no grudge against anyone but rather to appreciate and pray for those who are no longer our members to find favour wherever they may have gone.

“As mortals and in line with God’s wisdom we must forgive our former members in spite of their betrayals  that led to their expulsion.

“Those of you who are worried about their distractions and negative intentions should not because we are children of God. Victory shall be ours and it’s our hope and belief that everything shall be alright shortly.”

He stated that as the founder of the NNPP, he had long put the betrayals behind him and bore no grudge against Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima in particular .

“We were only advising the Kwankwasiya Movement group to stop making negotiations with the NNPP name and use of the wrong Logo.

“The NNPP Logo is basket of fruits with green and white colour and not red colour and book, the later is the Kwankwasiya Movement logo.

“INEC cannot register two political parties with the same name and different logo.

“It is our hope that Kwankwaso and his group shall take advantage of the multi party system in Nigeria to make a choice of joining any of the registered political parties in Nigeria or reactivate their own NAP ( Nigeria Alliance Party) earlier deregistered by INEC

Aniebonam pointed out that he registered the NNPP in 2001 and that Kwankwaso joined the party in 2022 on the aegis of the Kwankwasiya Movement, and was given the party’s ticket for the 2023 presidential elections.

“We equally entered a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kwankwasiya Movement for the sole purpose of the election which expired after the election,” he added.

Court affirms Agbo Major-led NNPP exco

    Party notifies INEC chairman

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has issued fresh orders restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising or dealing with any faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) other than the leadership headed by Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major.

Justice Bello Kawu of High Court No. 14, Apo, granted the orders on November 25 and 27, 2025 in two separate ex-parte applications filed by the NNPP.

The party accused a rival faction led by Dr. Ajuju Ahmed and others of attempting to mislead INEC despite existing judgments affirming the Agbo Major leadership.

In the first ruling delivered on November 25, the court granted the NNPP leave to apply for judicial review by way of mandamus.

The judge ruled that the leave shall operate as a stay of any contrary or inconsistent action, recognition, or communication by INEC or the respondents concerning the party’s leadership.

Justice Kawu also ordered an accelerated hearing and abridged timelines for filing processes, fixing 10 December 2025 for the substantive hearing.

In the second ruling, the court permitted substituted service on 16 respondents via the NNPP National Secretariat in Abuja. The judge further restrained INEC—whether through its officers or departments—from monitoring, attending, or participating in any congress or convention organised by the factional group until the substantive suit is determined.

The restrained respondents include key members of the factional group: Dr. Ajuju Ahmed, Abba Kawu Ali, Prince Nwaeze Onu, Aladipo Alayokun, Ladipo Johnson, Mohammed Abacha, Mustapha Alkassim, among others.

Following the orders, the NNPP’s legal team formally wrote to the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), informing him of the binding directives.

In the letter dated 26 November 2025, the party congratulated him on his appointment and stressed the need for strict compliance with all court orders governing the leadership dispute.

The NNPP reminded the Commission that several judgments—including those of the High Court of Abia State (HUZ/11/2024) and the FCT High Court (FCT/HC/CV/5518/2024)—had already affirmed the validity of the national convention that produced Dr. Agbo Major as National Chairman, while dismissing attempts by the Ahmed-led faction to assume control of the party.

Despite these judgments, the party alleged that INEC had previously extended recognition to the factional group, even after an “unauthorized and illegal” letter dated 31 October 2025 was sent to the Commission by Dr. Ajuju Ahmed and Dipo Olayoku, purporting to notify INEC of planned congresses and a national convention.

2027: We are open to alliance, NNPP tells PDP, APC, others

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has said the party is open to an alliance with any political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said an alliance became necessary for the success of any political party in any election.

Speaking in Ibadan, the national coordinator of the Kwankwaso National Movement, Hon. Ahmad Sawaba, said NNPP remained a formidable force in Nigerian politics, built on principles of justice, equity, and progress.

According to him, the party is committed to strengthening internal democracy, fostering unity, and presenting a cohesive front to Nigerians.

He maintained that the 2027 election is not just a political contest but a movement to reclaim the hopes of ordinary Nigerians.

He said, “NNPP is open to discussions with other progressive parties that share our ideology of good governance, inclusivity, and national development.

“Any alliance must be based on mutual respect, shared values, and the collective interest of Nigerians.

“We can work with any political party without necessarily changing our name; we are still in NNPP, and our loyalty remains with Kwankwaso.”

He, however, urged party members and the general public to remain steadfast and optimistic.

“Let us move forward with unity, strategy, and unwavering belief that a new Nigeria is possible.”

Amb. Ajadi resigns from NNPP, joins PDP

Nigerian politician, businessman, and social reform advocate, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the move as “a strategic and patriotic step toward rebuilding Nigeria’s unity and hope.”

The announcement came on Monday, November 10, 2025, during a press briefing where Ajadi formally presented copies of his resignation letter to journalists, signaling his official withdrawal from the NNPP and alignment with the Peoples Democratic Party.

In the letter, which was formally addressed to the Ward Chairman, NNPP Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, the Ogun State NNPP Chairman, the NNPP Southwest Chairman, and the National Chairman of the party, Ajadi stated that his decision came after deep reflection on Nigeria’s political direction and the need to work within a broader platform capable of driving genuine national transformation.

“My decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party is both strategic and patriotic,” Ajadi declared. “I have great respect for the NNPP and what it stands for, but at this point in Nigeria’s history, I believe the PDP offers a wider and stronger platform for national reconciliation, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”

Ajadi, who was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 general elections after stepping down as a presidential aspirant in solidarity with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who later became the party’s presidential candidate, clarified that his exit from the NNPP was not borne out of animosity but guided by conviction and renewed purpose.

“There is no bad blood between me and my former party,” he said. “I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served under its banner. However, as Nigeria continues to grapple with economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it is time for like-minded patriots to close ranks and rebuild trust in governance.”

Political observers have described Ajadi’s defection as one of the most strategic realignments in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections, a period expected to reshape Nigeria’s political alliances and ideological coalitions.

Beyond politics, Ambassador Ajadi is renowned for his humanitarian and youth development efforts. Through the Olufemi Ajadi Foundation, he has provided training, micro-grants, and support to widows, artisans, and small-scale farmers across several states in the South-West, Northern, and Southern regions.

His social campaigns and media engagements have long promoted youth inclusion in governance, entrepreneurship, and peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.

He has also been a consistent voice for press freedom, security reform, and good governance, often emphasizing the need for responsive leadership and civic accountability.

“Nigeria is at a crossroads,” Ajadi noted. “We need leaders who can listen to the people and act selflessly. I am confident that my entry into the PDP will strengthen the party’s grassroots base and reawaken hope among ordinary Nigerians.”

Party officials in South-west described Ajadi’s defection as a “boost to the PDP’s democratic family,” praising his record of integrity, youth mobilization, and social impact as assets that will enrich the party’s vision.

Reaffirming his commitment to national service, Ambassador Ajadi pledged to work closely with PDP leaders at all levels to promote transparency, peace-building, and inclusive governance.

“This is not just about party politics,” he reiterated. “It is about rekindling the faith of Nigerians in democracy and ensuring that our people begin to feel the real dividends of good governance.”
