While commiserating with the people in the affected communities and Plateau State in general, the NNPP asked security agencies, particularly those in the intelligence unit, to do more by unravelling such killing plots before they are carried out.

It acknowledged the efforts of the security agencies so far, adding that more needed to be done with greater support from the Federal Government to seriously tackle the recurring killing of people in Plateau which seems to have defied solutions.

We are rebuilding a new party in Nigeria, says NNPP

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has said it was rebuilding towards a new era of democratic advancement for the emancipation of the Nigerian people.

The zonal chairman of the party in the southwest, Prince Ademola Ayoade, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, said the party was poised to take over the reign of government with the view to meeting the basic needs in education, health, security, food sufficiency and infrastructural development across the board

Prince Ayoade, who was reacting to an earlier statement by some members of the party in the zone accusing the national leader of the party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of dictatorial tendencies, called on members to rededicate themselves towards the challenges of national renewal

This, he said will entail mass mobilisation and propagation of the idea that government can and should make life more abundant for the people through pro-people policies and programmes.

He dismissed claims of imposition of a new logo on the party by the National Leader, saying those making the claims either acted out of ignorance or a deliberate intent to mislead the public and cause disaffection within the party.

Prince Ayoade said the men were probably being used by political enemies to discredit the NNPP national leadership but that they had failed in their “assignment”.

According to him, the change of the logo was duly deliberated upon by the National Working Committee (NWC), approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC), and ratified by the National Convention as part of the Constitutional amendment carried out by the party, adding that due democratic process was followed.

He said: “The whole objective of this unfortunate orchestration was to discredit the NNPP national leadership, but they have failed woefully in their assignment. Of course, reading between the lines, it is obvious that they are being used by our political opponents. It’s a cheap blackmail to cause disaffection within the party.

“The change in the logo was exigent and the process, as part of our constitution amendment went through the NWC, NEC, and National Convention for ratification. So it passed through due democratic process.

“Their actions are therefore false, misleading, and malicious and should be disregarded by the public”.

On the legality of the recent NNPP convention, the zonal chairman said it also went through the normal democratic process, saying contrary to the “reckless assertion”, there was no court order barring the convention as previous cases instituted against the party’s leadership were thrown out as lacking in merit.

The convention was postponed till last Saturday due to obedience to a court summons which was disposed of by the court.

Southwest NNPP kicks against plan to change party logo

The South West chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) has rejected a proposal for adoption of a new logo.

The Southwest chapter of the party wondered the reason for changing the logo of the party, which has been adorned for over 20 years.

A statement by the Southwest NNPP Public Relations Officer, Kilamuwaye Badmus insisted that plan to change the NNPP’s logo was an overnight move, which is not acceptable to members of the party in the South West.

According to the statement, plan to change the logo was not officially passed to the members to their opinions and cannot stand the test  of time.

The party called on Kano Governor, Abba Yusuff and National Assembly members elected under NNPP to retain the victorious logo that gave them victory in the last election.

“What happened to over two decades logo of our great party, the NNPP with a patriotic inscription of Nigeria map with basket of fruits, which connotes food security for the masses, it is when there is no hunger, that people can think of any other things?

“And why the changing so sudden to Kwankwassiya colour of red white red without exercising the party’s internal mechanism?.

“Enough of this political contractors that believe in party’s trading and ideology of self imposition.

“The exclusive urgency of NEC meeting and National mini convention of our great party shows that the Kwankwasiyya group led by Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is working to hijack the party structure by announcing the trade mark of Kwankwasiyya colour to finally commercialize and to have full control of the party structure in the country.”

The South West NNPP also queried quick notification of the New logo by the National Leader Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Working Committee, (NWC) without seeking the opinions of members across the country.

“We the leaders and members of the NNPP in the Southern region were not consulted nor informed about the planned change of the party’s logo and therefore the change is unacceptable to us and INEC should take note and reject such kangaroo decision of changing original NNPP party logo.

“We wish to state that changing of NNPP Logo is not the next line of action or method to put an end to the internal crisis rocking the party in the nation, but rather it will cause another damage to the party because the adopted Kwankwassia colour can’t fly and the rational behind the idea is not acceptable to the Southwest Region Of the New Nigeria People’s Party.

“Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not the only leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party, we have other formidable leaders across the country, we are not in the party to worship a single soul but rather to bring the party to a more reputable limelight collectively.

“NNPP is a national party in Nigeria though those elected as Governor, State House Of Assembly and the National Assembly members presently are from Kano State but it is not a yardstick or enough to take over the control of the party by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

“Politics is not a one man show. Kwankwaso is just only one of the leaders in the party. We have a lot of leaders and vibrant stakeholders in the party that the national working committee failed to carried along im its action to change the party’s logo.

“We urge our only elected governor,  Engr. Abba Yusuff  to not to be ungrateful to God, the party members across the nation especially  the Logo that gave him victory in the last election to be retained and maintained

“In the last general election the party dragged and condemn INEC for not putting NNPP in the Logo on the ballot paper. So therefore, We called on INEC this time not to accept any new logo of NNPP from the National Secretariat yet to pass through proper adjudication. The party logo remain the map of Nigeria, with basket of fruits and not a red and white with graduation cap”.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Tuesday, March 26, announced the appointment of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as the new acting national chairman of the party.

Ahmed takes over the affairs of the party from Alhaji Abba Kawu Ali who resigned his position at the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Tuesday.

A statement by the national publicity secretary of the party, Yakubu Shendam said Alhaji Ali resigned based on advice from his personal Physician.

The statement reads: “Dr. Ajuji Ahmed has been elected as the new Acting National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), following the resignation of Abba Kawu Ali.

“Abba Kawu Ali, during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the National Headquarters of the Party, 11 Mahatma Gandhi Street Area 11, Abuja, said his decision to resign as the Ag. national chairman was based on advice from his personal Physician.

“This prompted a motion for the nomination of a New Acting National Chairman, and the choice of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed was unanimously supported by all members of the NWC.”

Until his new position, Dr Ahmed was the Deputy National Secretary of the party and the highest-ranking officer of the party from the North East.

It could be recalled that the first National Chairman of the Party, Prof. Ahmed Rufai Alkali resigned his position shortly after the 2023 general elections paving the way for the emergence of Kawu Ali who was then the vice chairman of North East.

A source within the party told The Nation that the party had to settle for Dr Ahmed because the Constitution States that the position vacated by an officer of the party will be filled by somebody from the same part of the country.

That is why when Prof. Alkali left, we settled for Kawu Ali because there was no Deputy National chairman in the North. Now that Kawu has left, we had to settle for the highest-ranking officer from his zone which is the northeast.

Dr. Ahmed is expected to lead the party into the Edo and Ondo governorship elections.

NNPP to Abiodun: invest in Ogun rather than fighting opposition

Babatunde Oke, the South West Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, to focus his efforts on initiatives that can foster growth and development within the state, rather than engage in conflicts with opposition parties.

Oke emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution allows the presence of opposition parties and encourages constructive engagement among them.

A statement by Oke alleged that it is absurd for a sitting governor to be spending heavily on the deployment of security agents against NNPP and its teeming members in the state.

He said: “I personally went to the state command of the Police and the DSS to lodge complaints, made explanations and clarifications, all of which entered into the deaf ears of the security agents.

“No soothsayer is needed to know that the security agents are acting the script. How can the DSS and the Police stop a national party like NNPP from holding its legitimate meetings? Where is our right of association and freedom of assembly?

“The duty of the Police and the DSS is to provide adequate security for members of our great party before, during, and after its meetings.

“Three different judgments from courts of competent jurisdictions affirmed the legitimacy of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) under the national leadership of Alhaji Abba Kawu Ali and Prince Ibrahim Adekunle as Ogun state chairman.

“A court order was issued last year stopping the recalcitrant group made up of the expelled NNPP members from parading themselves as members of the Party. A high court in Kano state has also issued Form 48 on the same set of individuals whom Governor Dapo Abiodun is using to cause disharmony in Ogun state NNPP.

“All these facts were made available to both the Police and the DSS, but unfortunately, they declined the acknowledgment simply because the governor is involved.

He added: “We are using this medium to reach out to the Nigeria President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call him to order. We in the same manner called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of DSS on the need to call both the Commissioner of Police, Ogun state command as well as the Director, DSS Ogun state command to order.

“Their responsibility is to ensure adequate security for all in Ogun State, and not allow themselves to be manipulated.

“New Nigeria People’s Party will not give in to any intimidation, oppression or humiliation from the governor who has a lot of urgent duties seeking his attention in the state as Governor.

“Southwest NNPP is using this medium to tell the governor and the commissioner for justice, Ogun state to stay away from NNPP affairs completely.

“The purported interference in the activities of NNPP and court case against the expelled Individuals from NNPP by the governor and commissioner for justice, Ogun state is nothing but misplaced priority, a ridiculous venture, and a waste of time and hard-earned money of Ogun state.”

Edo 2024: Ajadi cautions cleric over comment against NNPP candidate

A chieftain of New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) Amb. Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has cautioned leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, over his comment against its gubernatorial candidate in Edo State, Azembe Arena.

He urged the cleric to concentrate on his church work and leave politics to politicians or join politics.

Ayodele few days ago said NNPP candidate in Edo State, Arena will not make any significant success in September governorship election, saying Azena will only waste money if he continues to pursue his ambition.

A statement by Ajadi expressed shock at the utterances of Primate Ayodele, wondering why the man of God should act like that.

He wondered how Primate Ayodele was concerned about the NNPP candidate, wonder “is that part of his spiritual work?”

He said: “Our candidate has not come to you to solicit for help whether spiritual or financial, while narrowing down on Azemhe. Why don’t you concentrate on your spiritual work. Why are you jumping into politics?

“How much time have you spent in uplifting the spiritual lives of your church members. Is that what God sent you to tell people that are suffering.

“You will do well to keep to your job as a spiritual person. If you drag yourself into politics, you will be dragged in the mud and you won’t have any more respect.

“As a spiritual leader, there are avalanche of works to do but you leave that and concentrate on our candidate. How does it concern you, if he loses his money? Did God send you to tell him that?

“I will also call on members of his church to call him to order. NNPP is a new movement and is daily receiving members from other parties due to its laudable programmes.

“A statement or whatever from the likes of Primate Ayodele will not deter us in bringing succour to the suffering Nigerians starting from Kano and Edo State this year’s September.”

Economic challenges: NNPP founder urges patience, prayers

Dr Boniface Aniebonam, founder of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says now is not time for blame games but patience and prayers for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to succeed.

Aniebonam, who made this remark in a statement on Saturday in Lagos, was reacting to the economic hardship facing the nation.

“Let us say this to Nigerians that we as a people must at this moment, rally round the President to ensure that we overcome the  avoidable travails in Nigeria.

“A great leader is he or she who can take a wrong decision in a matter of urgent importance than taking none.

“Hard decisions are being taken in Nigeria for the good of the greater numbers at the moment.

“The President is indeed courageous under the circumstances,” he said.

According to him, Nigerians cannot succeed in their quest for a Nigeria of everyone’s hope under chaotic situation and disobedience to rule of law.

Aniebonam called on the President to ensure that the information machinery of the government was deployed for adequate communication with Nigerians at the moment.

He said such should detail the programme of action of the government to overcome the present economic situation of the country.

To achieve this objective, Aniebonam said that the government must be transparent, sincere and purposeful.

He added: “The government must be clear and predictable as to the state of the nation, where we are, what he is doing and the projection of results and hope of the future.
