    Odemwingie axed from Stokes squad

Peter Osaze Odemwingie was a shock omission from the Stoke City 25-man list expected to prosecute the Potters game from now till the January transfer window.

Each Premier League team has had to submit a list of which 25 players it plans to use between now and the January registration window.

Any player not registered will be unable to play for their team during that period, which rules Odemwingie out for at least the next four months.

Players under the age of 21 on January 1, 2014 don’t have to register under Premier League rules on squad size.

The 33-year-old confirmed he will require surgery on the cruciate knee ligament injury that has de-railed his season and with no time frame fixed for his return the club opted to leave him out of their squad with some reports saying he is out for the season.

However, his recent non-inclusion in Stoke City means he is definitely out for the next four months.

Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie and his Cardiff team-mates have been charged by head coach Malky Mackay to go all out for the three points when they play host to Swansea City today.

Mackay’s men have lost their last two home games and have not won at home since coming back from a goal down to beat Man City 3-2 on August 25th. “We’re playing a team in their third season here; derby aside, we’re facing a mid-ranking side which brings it’s own challenges.

“As far as the players are concerned they’ve been incredibly focused this week and have trained well.I want that little edge a derby game brings with the players. It’s something you have to embrace and enjoy.

“Sunday is such an important day for myself, my players and everyone involved with the football club. It’ll be a fantastic occasion I’m sure. I’m sure this is the one all fans have waited for since promotion. Mackay stated.

Saturday’s fixture is the first time ever these two teams will meet in the top flight. The last six meetings between the two have all been Championship fixtures, played between 2008 and 2011.

Nigerian striker Osaze Odemwingie and his Cardiff teammates may have snatched a valuable away point in their last tie against Norwich City at Carrow Road, but they may have to pay dearly after an FA charge was announced on them as well as on Norwich City on Thursday.

According to the FA statement released on Thursday, both Norwich and Cardiff have been charged with “failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion” during their Premier League meeting last weekend.

    Cardiff manager hails ‘impressive’ Odemwingie

The manager of Cardiff City, Malkay Mackay, has said he believes West Bromich Albion short-changed themselves by offloading Osaze Odemwingie during the last transfer window.

Futaa.com reports that Odemwingie impressed in a cameo appearance on his debut against Tottenham on Sunday and is set to feature in a heavily-changed side for Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup clash against West Ham.

The former Lille forward spent seven months in the wilderness at WBA after his aborted move to Queens Park Rangers in January. He joined the Welsh capital side for around £2.5million on transfer deadline day.

“He has guile, a great touch, awareness. I know exactly what I have got: an intelligent, articulate lad who had a smile on his face since the day that he got here.

“He is in the need of match fitness and training and we need to blend him in gently. But we have an exciting talent for what I believe is a really fantastic price.

Odemwingie holds WBA record for the most Premiership goals by any player.
