    ‘Ododo’s victory is testament to Bello’s hardwork’

    Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his victory at the Saturday’s  election.

     Sanwo-Olu, who was a member of the APC National Campaign Council for the Kogi State Governorship election, described Ododo’s landslide victory as a testament to the good work the Governor Yahaha Bello-led APC administration has done in Kogi State.

    In a congratulatory message issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu said Ododo’s victory is well deserved and a clear manifestation that the APC remains the party of choice for Nigerians at the local, state and federal levels.

    Kogi residents celebrate Ododo’s victory

    Residents of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state on Monday, November 13, took to the streets to celebrate victory of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Ododo.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Oladele John Nihi, Kogi Youth leader and made available to journalists in Lokoja, the capital city.

    Residents in solidarity with the Kogi governor-elect were seen singing his praises with placards that read: “Kogi Has Decided”, “Kogi State Agenda”, “Kogi State Election Was Peaceful”, among others.

    The solidarity walk started from Ganaja Junction through to Government House, Lokoja where the incumbent governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello resides.

    He said: “On behalf of the youths of Kogi State, we want to affirm that indeed, Saturday 11th November Governorship election in Kogi is the most peaceful, credible, free and fair election in the history of election in Kogi State. We are all out today to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for a free and fair election in Kogi State. We must also appreciate INEC for being very professional in their conduct during the election.

    “Let’s also use this opportunity to congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, our Governor-Elect on his victory and we urged him to consolidate on the numerous achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello, particularly in the area of Youths, Women, and People Living with Disabilities involvement and engagement in governance.

    “Finally, we want to congratulate Kogites for coming out in their numbers to vote for a candidate of their choice in such a peaceful and orderly manner. We promise to support Ododo to succeed even as we urge him to be fair to all irrespective of ethnic or religious belief,” the statement read.

    Recall the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, November 12, declared Ododo winner of the Kogi governorship election. Mr Ododo won in 13 of the 21 local government areas in the States scoring a total of 446,237 votes.

    Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has extended congratulations to the winners of last Saturday’s off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi and Imo States, Usman Ododo in Kogi state and Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Governor Akeredolu said the victories signified the people’s endorsement of their leadership as well as entrusting them with the responsibility of steering their respective states towards prosperity and progress.

    Akeredolu, in a statement, he personally signed, said the outcome of the elections affirmed the democratic gains and highlighted the ongoing improvements in the country’s electoral system.

    He said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). INEC’s commitment to improvement was evident in its performance during the Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa elections.

    The Ondo governor hailed President Bola Tinubu for fostering a level playing field for all political parties.

    “Appreciation is also extended to the youth corps members (NYSC) who served as ad hoc staff and electoral officers. Their integrity and accountability in fulfilling this national duty exemplify true patriotism.

    “I congratulate our great party, the APC. The national leadership’s dedication to reinforcing and promoting our political ideologies, particularly under President Tinubu, has strengthened the party’s acceptability and resilience.     President Bola Tinubu congratulated Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state, as well as Governor-elect, Usman Ododo of Kogi state over their respective victories in the Saturday, November 13, governorship elections.

    President Tinubu also commended the electorate in the three states for their participation in the electoral process, affirming the resilience of democratic institutions and the power of the people in shaping the nation’s political landscape.

    According to a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu said the outcomes of the elections reflected the wishes of the people, emphasizing that democracy thrives when voters reward competence, transparency, and good governance.

    The winner of the 2023 Kogi Governorship Election and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Ododo, has expressed gratitude to citizens of the state for voting for him during the guber poll.

    A statement signed by Ododo appreciated President Bola Tinubu, VP Kashim Shettima, APC national chairman, Umar Ganduje, and the outgoing governor, Yahaya Bello among others.

    Ododo called on citizens of the state to continue working hand in hand to achieve the shared aspirations for the state’s progress.

    He said: “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for entrusting my team and me with the responsibility of leading our great state from January 2024. Your unwavering support has been the driving force behind our efforts to uplift Kogi to greater heights.

    The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the party’s victories in the Imo and the Kogi states governorship elections as an attestation to the exceptional performance of the APC-led administrations in both states.

    APC national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, in a congratulatory message in Abuja on Monday, November 13, said the performance of the party in the two states resonated loudly with voters from the states.

    The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) congratulates His Excellency, Hope Uzodimma, on his re-election as Executive Governor of Imo State, and Usman Ododo on his emergence as Governor-Elect of Kogi state.

    “The landslide victories of both Governor Uzodimma and Ododo at the just-concluded gubernatorial polls attest to the exceptional performance of the APC-led administrations in both states and resonated loudly with voters.

    Imo/Kogi Governorship Poll: Ganduje congratulates Uzodimma, Ododo

    Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman has congratulated Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo over his re-election in Saturday’s  governorship poll.

    Ganduje said this in a statement signed by Mr Edwin Olofu, his Chief Press Secretary in Abuja.

    He also expressed happiness with the overwhelming support exhibited by Kogi electorate in electing Alhaji Ahmed Ododo in the state’s governorship poll.

    He said the electoral feats of both Uzodimma and Ododo reinforced the fact that Nigerians were well at home with the APC.

    He added that the victory of the APC in both states underlined the fact that the citizenry was appreciative of the delivery of democracy dividends by Gov. Uzodinma of Imo and the outgoing Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi.

    “What gladdens me about the victory of the APC in both Kogi and Imo states is that Nigerians are appreciative of good governance and they want continuity in peace and sustainable growth in their states.

    “As a progressive party, we will always live up to our promises to deliver good governance.

    “The people of Imo and Kogi States can be rest assured that Uzodimma would sustain his developmental strides in the state while Ododo would consolidate the enviable legacies of Gov. Bello,” he said.

    While congratulating both Uzodinma and Ododo over their landmark victory, Ganduje urged members of the opposition political parties to accept their defeat in good faith.

    “You are true democrats. The truth is that we are all winners at the end of the day, without a viable opposition, there won’t be contestations and democracy.

    “I urge you to join hands with Uzodimma and the incoming governor of Kogi, Ahmed Ododo in the task of moving your respective states forward.

    “You all fought a good battle, as the saying goes, there will always be another chance to test your level of acceptability among the electorate,” the APC national chairman said.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that  Uzodimma scored 540,308 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Samuel Anyanwu who scored 71,503 votes to place second.

    The Labour Party((LP) governorship candidate, Mr Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes.

    Ododo won the Kogi governorship election with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Alhaji Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who got 259,052, while Sen. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pulled 46,362 votes.

    BREAKING : INEC declares APC’s Ododo Kogi Gov-Elect

    The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, Ahmed Ododo, has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    The INEC’s Returning Officer for the Governorship Election in Kogi State and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Johnson Urama, made the declaration after the end of collation of results from the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.

    Urama said out of the total registered voters of 1,932,474 in the state,  794,500 were accredited to vote.

    He said APC’s Ododo polled a total of 446,237 to defeat SDP’s Ajaka who scored 259,052.

    He said the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide scored 21819 votes while the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the poll, Senator Dino Melaye polled 46,362 votes.

    Other candidates and total votes scored by their parties include: A – 1254, AA – 1440,

    AAC 424, ADP 1064, APGA 469, APM 130, APP 1135, BP 82, LP – 567, NNPP – 136,

    NRM 242, PRP -781, YPP 858 and ZLP – 227.

    JUST IN: APC’s Ododo wins 11 LGAs, SDP six in Kogi

    The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Kogi governorship election, Alhaji  Ahmed Ododo has won 11 local government areas of the State.

    According to the result announced so far by the  Independent National Electoral Commission, the APC secured victory in  Okehi, Ijumu, Okenne, Yagba West, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogorimagongo.

    Others are Mopamoro, Bassa, Kogi Koto Karfe and Kabba/Bunnu council areas.

    The Social Democratic Party(SDP)  candidate, Murtala Ajaka, however, won in six local government. The local government are Dekina, Ankpa, Olamaboro, Omala, Ofu and Idah.

    Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress candidate won his Yagba east local government while the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Dino Melaye is yet to win any local government.

    The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Kogi governorship poll, Ahmed Ododo has trounced his closest rivals, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Dino Melaye in his Okenne local government area of the state.

    Ododo polled 138, 416 votes while Ajaka and Melaye secured 271 and 1,463 votes respectively.

    Okenne is the local government of the APC candidate and Governor Yahaya Bello.
