    I’m going to Europe – Etebo

    Dream Team star, Oghenekaro Etebo, has revealed he is set to join an European club month, but refused to name the club he has reached an agreement with.

    “This January I will move to Europe, everything has been agreed, but I won’t disclose the name of the club yet,” he told africanFootball.com.

    The Warri Wolves midfielder was named CAF Most Promising Talent after he finished top scorer at the recent U23 AFCON in Senegal with five goals.

    Etebo’s club had placed a 2 million Euros price tag on him although this has been reviewed downwards.

    Several Tunisian clubs including Esperance are reportedly willing to break the bank to sign the midfielder.

    Tunisian club offers $1.2m for Etebo

    An unnamed top Tunisian club has tabled a $1.2 million bid for Nigeria U-23 midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo.

    The midfielder’s club, Warri Wolves, has already placed a $2 million price tag on the player, africanFootball.com reports.

    “An offer of a million dollars is on the table for the player and I have even met with the club here in Tunisia to discuss this,” Vincent Alumona, who is in Tunisia to finalise Kingsley Sokari’s transfer from Enyimba to Tunisia league leaders CS Sfaxien, told africanFootball.com.

    “The player is willing to move should his club sanction it.”

    There are now several young Nigeria stars featuring in Tunisia – Emem Eduok, Bernard Bulbwa (Esperance) and Junior Ajayi, Kingsley Sokari (CS Sfaxien) – which could be a better gateway to a career in Europe

    Egyptian side Zamalek is also reportedly chasing Etebo.

    Akwuegbu tips Mohammed, Dimgba, Etebo for greatness

    Former Nigeria World Cup star, Benedict Akwuegbu, has tipped Usman Mohammed, Stanley Dimgba and Oghenekaro Etebo for greatness after they impressed at the U-23 African Nations Cup in Senegal.

    “I must congratulate the coach Samson Siasia-led team for a job well done and commend the players for their determinations to excel,” africanFootball.com quoted Akwuegbu as saying on Monday.

    “I didn’t watch all their games in Senegal, but from those that I watched I was impressed most with the performances of Usman Mohammed, Stanley Dimgba and Oghenekaro Etebo.

    “They showed class at the tournament and I see them moving the team at the Olympics next year. They will go far in their careers if they continued to develop and strive hard.”

    Mohammed featured in all the matches for the Dream Team, while Etebo finished as top scorer of the tournament with five goals as Nigeria won the second edition of the U-23 AFCON.

    Dimgba was outstanding in the first two group games against Mali and Egypt, before he was ruled out of the competition by an ankle injury.

    Confederation Cup Wolves beat Union Douala 3-2 in Cameroon

    Warri Wolves spanked hosts Union Douala of Cameroon 3-2 in the first leg first round of the Caf Confederations Cup matched played at the Stade de la Reunification on Saturday afternoon.

    Musa Najare’s header in the 12th minute put the Nigerians ahead but their lead was short-lived as Patrick Ngouala scored the equaliser for the home team three minutes later.

    With seven minutes left to play in the first half, Oghenekaro Etebo got the second goal for Warri Wolves as they took the lead into the half time break.

    On restart of the second half, the Cameroonians who were desperate for a win in the encounter leveled scores before Bartholomew Ibenegbu grabbed the winning goal in the closing stages of the match for the visitors.

    The return leg holds in Warri in a fortnight with the winner on aggregate qualifying for the next round of the competition.

    Warri Wolves had earlier rejected the hotel booked for them by Cameroon FA on arrival from Nigeria before relocating to Somatel Hotel located in Bali area of the ancient City of Douala.

    Oghenekaro Etebo was the hero of the day as his first half hat-trick ensured Wikki Tourist suffer a 3-1 defeat in the hands of Warri Wolves in a week 34 game of the Glo Nigerian Premier League played on Wednesday September 25, 2013.

    Wolves bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Kano Pillars on Sunday to record one of their big wins this season when Etebo opened scoring in the 22nd minute.

    The striker, however, completed his hat-trick before Waziri Christopher scored for Wikki to ensure the first half ended at 3-1.

    The Warri City stadium was agog with fans who thronged out to drum support for the home team. But the second half was not to produce more goals as the game ended with the first half score.
