IF the statutes prohibiting same sex relationships in Nigeria are taken seriously, Nigerian rapper, Olamide, may be courting trouble for himself, against the backdrop some scenes in his new music video, Story for the gods, which suggest acts of homosexuality.

Some clips from the video show a number of ladies engaging in some acts of eroticism. Though the video has been receiving massive airplay on cable stations, scenes suggesting amorous relationships in the video have continued to be blurred by the broadcast stations playing it.

According to the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, anyone involved in homosexual or amorous relationship risks between 10 and 14 years jail term.

The same act, which prohibits same sex amorous relationship directly or indirectly states in Section 5, subsection 2 that “A person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organisations, or directly or indirectly makes public show of same sex amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.”

Pundits claimed that if the act is taken seriously, Olamide risks a jail term for shooting a video that shows ladies fondling one another.
