    Bariga LCDA renames ‘Charly Boy’ bus stop after Olamide

    The Bariga Local Council Development Area in Lagos State has officially renamed the popular ‘Charly Boy’ bus stop after rapper Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Baddo.

    Olamide, a celebrated music star with a career spanning over a decade, is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential artists.

    The development also included renaming of several streets in honor of notable figures.

    Outgoing Council Chairman Kolade Alabi David revealed that the renaming is aimed at honoring notable individuals who have enhanced Bariga’s reputation and positively impacted Nigeria’s global image through their work and contributions.

    “As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State. Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies,” he said.

    The changes include renaming Ilaje Road to King Sunny Ade Road, after the veteran Juju musician.

    Bariga Road has been renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way while Community Road in Akoka is now known as Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road.

    Other changes include renaming Ajidagan Street to Olamide Adedeji (Badoo) Street, after the award-winning rapper and singer who hails from Bariga.

    Ifeanyi Street is now Abolore Akande (9ice) Street while Ayodele Street in Ladi-Lak has been renamed Tony Tetuila Street.

    Additionally, Ilojo Crescent in Obanikoro is now known as Bukayo Saka Street.

    The changes come just weeks after Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA also renamed 24 streets in its jurisdiction.

    Key milestones include Asake’s sold-out O2 Arena concert in London, making him the third Nigerian artist to achieve this feat multiple times, and his track MMS earning a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards.

    “YBNL Nation has made significant strides in expanding our global footprint and solidifying our presence in key international markets. Collaborations with international artists and producers have helped bridge the gap between Afrobeats and other genres. further establishing our label as a key player in the global music scene”, Olamide said partly.

    Rapper and singer Olamide has released his new single “Kai” featuring Wizkid.

    The track serves as the lead single from his upcoming self-titled album, set to drop in June.

    The highly anticipated project will be Olamide’s 11th studio album and 15th music project overall, boasting 17 tracks.

    The collaboration between Olamide and Wizkid is not new, as they have worked together in the past.

    Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a lineup of performers for the state’s end-of-year celebration, The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025.

    The event will feature top artists, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez, in a grand showcase of Lagos’ vibrant culture and entertainment scene.

    Set to take place across five strategic locations — Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe — the countdown promises electrifying performances, cultural displays, and an unforgettable Lagos experience.

    Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the event’s aim to highlight the state’s uniqueness, saying it represents the dynamic energy and spirit of Lagos.

    He wrote on X: “This December, Lagos welcomed the world, and now we’re ready to host the biggest countdown event in Africa.

    “The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 will feature the continent’s biggest music superstars; Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez; all gathered for a night to remember.

    “Tonight, Lagos will come alive with electrifying performances across these five locations – Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe.

    Singer Crown Uzama popularly known as Shallipopi has crowned senior colleague, Olamide, the king of Nigerian street music.

    In an interview with Naija FM, Shallipopi expressed admiration for the music executive, stating that he’s the “father and king of Nigerian street music”.

    “Baddo [Olamide] is the father and king of Nigerian street music. So I had to feature him on ‘Order’ because it is a street song and Olamide owns the street,” he said.

    This sentiment is echoed by many, considering Olamide’s influential role in elevating street pop to mainstream recognition as a distinct music genre.

    Shallipopi is set to feature Olamide in his song “Order” which is a testament to his ability to navigate across genres and elevate tracks with his signature style.

    Apart from acknowledging Olamide’s street credibility, Shallipopi also addressed his departure from Dapper Music, clarifying that he exited the label after his contract expired.

    He reassured fans that there’s no bad blood between him and his former label, and they’re on good terms.

    Kizz Daniels has named Olamide as the godfather of music.

    He stated this on X with the inclusion of music producer Don Jazzy and singer Phyno.

    He wrote while replying a fan: “That’s the Godfather of the New industry along side Don Jazzy and Phyno … story for another day.”

    The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Africa Military Games (AMGA2024)  has justified the choice of Nigerian music sensation Olamide Gbenga Adedeji (Olamide Baddo) as the Brand Ambassador for the highly anticipated event holding between  November 18 and 30 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

    The LOC chairman , Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, said at the Olamide’s unveiling in Lagos on Tuesday  as AMGA2024 Brand Ambassador,   aligns with the LOC’s commitment to enhance the event’s visibility especially among the youths  across Africa.

     “We are thrilled to welcome Olamide to the AMGA2024 family, with his influence, we believe he will not only raise awareness about the Games but also inspire a generation of Africans to celebrate our shared values and cultural heritage” Marquis, said.

    Scheduled to take place next week in Abuja, AMGA 2024  is expected  to  bring together over 44 African nations, 2000 athletes both males and females  in Abuja for an array of sporting events including; Badminton, Boxing, Basketball, Combat Swimming, Football, Golf, Judo, Kickboxing, Obstacle Crossing, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, and Wrestling among other sporting activities. As part of his role, Olamide will engage in promotional activities, including media appearances, social media campaigns, and on-ground activations. His involvement aims to generate widespread enthusiasm for the Games and build a lasting impact that goes beyond the event itself.

    For Gimba, music wasn’t always the plan, but fate led him on an extraordinary journey. Now, just a year into his career, he’s had the chance to work with Afrobeats icons like Wizkid, Olamide, Wande Coal, Sarz, and DJ Tunez, an experience he still finds hard to believe.
