The group gave this warning in a statement by Alhaji Mumakai-Unagha and Henry Akpoveta, Chairman and Secretary of the group respectively.

The group the duo is illustrious Urhobo sons who are patriotic and committed to see to the opening up of the area.

The statement explained: “We wish to states here that the Urhobo can go to war because of their patriotism so as to defend them.

“At this moment the Urhobos seems to have no direction, we must appreciate one another, queue behind them to move the Urhobo Nation forward.

“It is regrettable that in-fighting and pull-down syndrome amongst the Urhobo is not the political solution. At this moment of our time, we should learn from our past mistakes, take a deep breath on how to redeem the battered image that has brought the Urhobo down.”

The group advised the Urhobos to tinker their focus towards what their future should be and how to achieve it, and not to rubbish one another, adding that both O’tega Emerhor and Engr. Samuel Adjogbe are gift to Urhobo nation from God.

“What the entire Niger Delta region did not achieved since the inception of the Niger Delta Development Commission, the present Commission has done wonderfully beyond human expectation and imagination.

  • Delta APC ecstatic as Buhari visits Thursday

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) flags its Presidential Campaign/rally off in Warri on Thursday, the Mainstream Delta APC has described the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari as a necessity.

The group, in a statement by its leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, said the state had been in an ecstatic mood in anticipation of President Buhari’s visit to the state.

It added people were anxiously waiting to receive a man that has brought so much transformation to the state and the entire Niger Delta region.

The APC leader described the Buhari-led administration as a model of good governance.

He urged Deltans from all walks of life to throng the Warri stadium to give the President a resounding welcome.

According to him: “President Muhammad Buhari has delivered on his major campaign promises, he made to Nigerians in 2015, and it’s only ideal to return such a visionary leader to consolidate on the developmental strides recorded under his watch  as commander in chief.”

Emerhor noted the Niger Delta has been fairly treated by this APC led government and as such should be voted for massively in the coming election in appreciation of the government’s efforts in changing the region.

“We in the Niger Delta have not had it so good, even when our son was the President we didn’t, look at the Maritime University, Itakpe to Udu railway line, the dredging of Warri sea port and wonder of the NDDC which is made possible by the President.

He therefore, called on Deltans to be decisive for this is not the time to play the ostrich.

According to him, “Deltans must now look far beyond sentiment and petty politics and massively cast their votes for President Buhari, because a vote for Mr President is a vote for growth and development of the Niger Delta.”

He assured Buhari and members of the Presidential campaign Team, that, Deltans are intelligent and smart people who have chosen the “Next level” over going back to Egypt.

  • Emerhor’s allegations against me cheap blackmail, says Omo-Agege

…says he was never convicted in a U.S. court

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has described allegations by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor that he plans to kill him as a cheap blackmail.

Also reacting to the allegation that he bears criminal conviction from a Californian court thereby disqualifying him from holding any political office, Omo-Agege described it as a worn-out lie that failed in every election season adding that it will also fail this time.

Recalling the particular matter, Omo-Agege said he was only alleged to have broken the law in California but was later found innocent which ensures that he remain an active member of the State of California Bar Association.

However, the Senator has called for a proper investigation into the allegations raised against him by those he alleged to desperate politicians grasping on unfounded rumours as a blackmail tool.

The clarifications were contained in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja and signed by Prince Efe Duku on behalf of the Office of the Senator.

The statement reads: “Yesterday, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, that the Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege plans to kill him.

“Although Emerhor’s petition is a shocking, malicious, wicked and brazen lie calculated to blackmail, embarrass and demean Senator Omo-Agege and smear his reputation, our Senator has nonetheless called for its proper investigation.

“We note that many have reasonably asked why Omo-Agege would ever plan anything against a so-called political opponent who has no electoral value – one who has never won an election in his own polling unit.”

On the claim that he bears criminal conviction, he said: “Today, barely 24 hours after Emerhor’s wild, wicked, childish and laughable petition became a media show, a new lie, blackmail and campaign of calumny was launched against Senator Omo-Agege.

“The blackmailer wants the world to believe that Omo-Agege bears a criminal conviction from California, USA that legally disqualifies him from the 2019 Delta Central senate race.

“For this, the blackmailer has launched a cowardly proxy legal battle to stop Omo-Agege from returning to the Senate. But then, this is just a rehashed lie from a desperado who is in a hurry to do evil to benefit himself. A worn-out lie that has failed woefully in every election season and will also fail this time.

“Yes, leaders should be held to the highest standard of accountability. The people do not knowingly entrust persons of tainted character with public leadership. A leader mirrors the image of the divine and ought to be as ‘clean’ as possible. Hence, we wholeheartedly welcome any healthy scrutiny of whoever leads or seeks to lead, including Omo-Agege.

The statement continues: “To this extent, by way of ‘fair commentary’ only, we will speak to the non-existent criminal conviction knowing that the matter is now in court and therefore subjudice. We will meet the blackmailer in court.

“The fact is, at a point in his brilliant and bright legal career in California, USA, Senator Omo-Agege (then a young attorney) was alleged to have broken the law in California. But in the end, he was found not guilty.

“Accordingly, he was declared innocent by the Honourables Lance A. Ito (who presided over the popular O.J. Simpson murder trial case) and G. Magnera of the Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Omo-Agege had to fight hard for his innocence and God vindicated him against the expectations of evil men like the most sadistic blackmailer in the world.

“Today, he remains an “active” member in “good standing” of the State of California Bar Association – what would be impossible if a valid and subsisting conviction were hanging on him. These are verifiable public facts and truths.”

The Senator also alleged that Emerhor was going too far adding that several attempts to defame will fail and the costs will be too much for him to pay.

“We are not altogether surprised that the electorally infertile self-acclaimed ‘Supreme Leader’ of the Delta APC believes that the easiest and only way to win his first election is to first bring down his own brother with cheap blackmail, lies and judicial magics.

“Always naïve and filled with venom to retaliate his shameful defeat by Delta’s most respected opposition political forces during the last APC congresses in Delta, Emerhor now appears just too desperate.

“If not, he would have known that he will sink deeper into shame and self-destruct by picking futile fights of vendetta with the Most Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the Omo-Agege Dynasty. He will soon learn that the law is a great force against the machinations of evil men.

“He has whetted the ground for extraordinarily huge legal battles that must stretch beyond his wildest imaginations. He started it; we will end it.

“We are convinced that Emerhor, his proxies and their NDDC Executive Director sponsor know that they just cannot pull Senator Ovie Omo-Agege down.

“They failed miserably in the past and this time will not be different. But then, there is still time for Emerhor and his co-travelers to repent and ask God for forgiveness.

“They should learn that politics, especially amongst kinsmen, requires some restraint, wisdom and honour. Emerhor is going too far.”

  • Delta: Emerhor Challenges Omo-Agege to Direct APC Primary

Delta’s All Progressives’ Congress (APC) leadership tussle may be gaining momentum, as leader of the party in the state, Olorogun Otega Emerhor, has set out a challenge to Delta Central Senator, Barr. Ovie Omo-Agege, to contest for the party’s senatorial ticket through a direct primary.

This was revealed in a statement issued to media aide to Olorogun Emerhor, Mr. Abraham Orotomah, on Saturday. The statement also accused the incumbent senator of verbally assaulting Urhobo elders and chiefs for persuading and buying the party’s chieftain, Emerhor, the senatorial ticket to enable him contest come 2019.

Wondering when Omo-Agege became a diehard supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, given his association with former president Goodluck Jonathan, it penned Omo-Agege as playing a “con game” by calling his political superior “anti-Buhari”, assuring that Emerhor’s bid to wrest the senate seat from him will not waver.

Further noting the Senator’s role in fast-tracking the programmes of the president, the statement said this however does not make him sole supporter of the APC in the state.

Parts of the statement read thus: “Today, Omo-Agege has the fawning temerity to describe Olorogun Emerhor and the growing sea of Mr. President’s supporters in Delta as anti Buhari, simply because he thinks this is how to hoodwink Abuja and get an automatic ticket back to the Red Chamber.

“But it would not work because President Buhari and his team are far more sophisticated and politically discerning than Omo-Agege and his ilk.

“Olorogun Emerhor hereby challenges Senator Omo-Agege to a contest for the APC senatorial ticket through a free and fair direct primary. Let Senator Omo-Agege avail himself of this opportunity to prove that he can win in a transparent internal democratic contest within the party, rather than run around Abuja seeking an automatic ticket through indirect primaries.

“Olorogun Emerhor is not moved by threats of fire and fury. Omo-Agege should reserve that, if he may, for our common foe, PDP, who Olorogun Emerhor prays Omo-Agege is truly interested in dislodging from Delta State, given his previous relationship with them as SSG and executive assistant to a PDP governor.

“For now, it will suffice for Senator Omo-Agege to climb down from his arrogant high horse and test his acceptance with Delta Central APC followers in the upcoming senatorial direct primaries”, the statement said.

  • Aginighan: Tributes, praises trail death of former NDDC boss

Tributes have continued to trail the tragic death of former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC ), Pastor Power Ziakede Aginighan.

Aginighan was killed last Friday, along with his first son, Tami and police orderly, in a ghastly motor accident on the East-West Expressway, around Akinima, the headquarters of Ahoada West council area of Rivers state.

Sending out emotion-laden tributes, in separate states were the commission he led briefly; the NDDC; a leader of his political party in Delta state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF); as well as an Ijaw businessman/activist and a personal friend of the deceased, Mr Ebilate Mac-Yoroki.

In its condolence message to the family and friends of Aginighan, who was the pioneer Secretary of the Ijaw apex sociopolitical organisation, the Ijaw National Congress, the NDDC, in a statement issued by its Director, Corporate Affairs, Dr Ibitoye Abosede, quoting the Chairman and Managing Director of the Commission; Senator Victor Ndoma Egba and Mr Nsima Ekere, respectively, the family was admonished to rest on God at this time.

“Aginighan was passionate in the struggle for better living conditions for the Niger Delta people. He served in various leadership positions in various organizations committed to improving the quality of lives of Niger Delta people and Nigeria in general. He was Director-General of the Ijaw Youths Action League and held other leadership positions too numerous to mention.

“Pastor Aghinighan has remained very supportive to the Commission, years after serving as the Acting Managing Director. This is indeed a huge and overwhelming loss for his wife, family, the people of the Niger Delta Region and the entire Board, Management and Staff of NDDC.”

“We pray that Almighty God grant his wife, the rest of Aginighan family and entire Ijaw nation the fortitude to bear this overwhelming loss”, it said.

In his own message, Olorogun Emerhor said besides being the undisputed leader of the Ijaw people in the APC in the state, Aginighan was his ally in the struggle to liberate Delta state from misrule, adding that his death had created a huge vacuum in leadership in the state and the nation at large.

“Late P Z Aginighan was not just the acknowledged leader of the Ijaw nation in Delta APC, but a great leader of the Ijaw nation in Delta state who during his life time lived for others by making sacrifices even at great cost to ensure that the downtrodden are lifted out of poverty during his days at the NDDC.

“His sudden death is a devastating blow to Deltans, the Ijaw nation and the APC family in Delta state; especially at this critical political times when his inputs would have been so valuable and crucial.

“He was a supportive, proactive and dependable ally, who is committed to the liberation of Delta from too many years of misrule by the PDP. His demise therefore, has created a huge vacuum in Delta APC, the Ijaw nation and Nigeria at large. Indeed, an irreparable loss”, he said.

In its own brief reaction, the PANDEF, in a statement issued by its Secretary, Dr Alfred Mulade, said “the leadership of PANDEF family, and indeed, the Niger Delta region has lost a rare gem”.

In his own tribute, one of Pastor Aginighan’s long time friend, Mac-Yoroki, lamented the loss of a friend of almost four decades, adding that his (Aginighan’) influence on him compelled him to become a financial member of the INC when it was initially formed.

“From our time in the University, he was a rallying point of planning, coordination and direction. It was for this personal knowledge, I became one of the first few financial members of INC few weeks after its formation, when he visited my Portharcourt office with his assistant, Mr Agbegha.

“With a fruitful relationship of over thirty eight years , our brother hood and friendship blossomed. It was with great joy I coordinated his son’s wedding at Lagos last year. In February this year, he also shelved all other schedules to Grace my son’s wedding in Lagos from Port Harcourt. I will forever remember his relentless efforts in persuading me to play more prominent roles in the Delta state and Ijaw affairs”, Mac-Yoroki lamented.

  • Uduaghan’s move, deadliest blow to Delta PDP ever – Emerhor

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state has described the exiting of former state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, as the deadliest blow to ever hit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Leader of the mainstream APC in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who disclosed this in a statement Thursday, also said the former governor’s entry into the APC had made the party’s position and chances stronger as the state approaches an election year.

Emerhor, while welcoming Uduaghan in his party, noted that the latest step by the former governor is a ‘quit notice’ to his successor and the incumbent governor of the state, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, saying the days of PDP’s misrule of the state are over.

Emerhor, who was the APC’s governorship standard bearer in the 2015 elections, noted that Uduaghan was not just a paramount leader of the PDP but the soul and body of the party that gave it life in its formidable days. The exit of Uduaghan, therefore, means that Delta PDP is now lifeless and in the throes of a degenerative death.

“I am particularly excited about his joining our party because the value he brings is unquantifiable! He is a man that has conquered the rough and rugged political terrain of Delta again and again, winning and ruling the state twice for a total of eight years.

“He comes with political hands-on experience spanning over 16 years. He knows Delta and Deltans know him. What more, he comes as ‘ John the Baptist’ forerunning ahead of a multitude of his time tested followers and indeed political associates! No deadlier or more fatal death has ever been cast against PDP in Delta State.

“For Delta APC, Gov Uduaghan’s coming couldn’t have been better timed. His experience and stature will help to rally the party in its current drive for unity. The strength he comes with will further validate our hope.

“On behalf of the mainstream and larger APC family in Delta State, I heartily welcome Gov Uduaghan into the Delta APC fold and assure him of our full cooperation and his entitlement to the full privileges and rights due to every members and party leaders. Deltans should fasten their seat belt as the journey from perdition to liberation has now started ernestly. 2019 here we come,” Emerhor concluded.

  • Buhari has done well in Delta State more than Jonathan – Emerhor

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun Otega Emerhor on Wednesday night declared that President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in Delta State more than former President Goodluck Jonathan, who hails from the zone.

He spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

On what are the chances of Buhari in the South South, Emerhor said, “In 2015, we had President Jonathan who is from the south south, that created an emotional issue but we have seen now that even when Jonathan was in power, he did not do for Delta what President Buhari has done for us.

“The Ogoni cleaning exercise that is going on there is one of the major thing we can count on. The east west road is being completely rehabilitated and that did not happen when one of our own sons was the President.

“So, we are very confident that the south south this time around wants to belong to the center and that is why we are going to be able to deliver the President there.” he added

Giving more reasons why the South South will support Buhari, he said that the Buhari’s administration has reactivated the amnesty programme; the Maritime University in the Ijaw-Ishekiri side of Delta is now functioning.

He went on: “And he has done a lot for us in Delta. He has empowered a lot of our people in Delta.

“We have the Minister of State Petroleum and the Minister of Transportation from South-South, the N-Power programme is working so all these have created the enabling environment for us to deliver the President in 2019.” he said

Optimistic that the APC can take over the reins of leadership in Delta State from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he said that the current Governor off the State has not done enough thus, clearing the coast for the APC to take over.

“Let me tell you, we are so fortunate that the Governor of Delta Sate, who is a PDP man, is not doing anything. Delta has a lot of resources and the expectation is that the State should be doing better than Edo State for example, which is our neighbour but the APC Governor in Edo is doing so well; even Willie Obiano in Anambra that doesn’t having anything is doing so well.

“So it’s so obvious that the finances of Delta State are not being applied and everyone in Delta is now convinced that APC must takeover because they produce performing Governors,” he stated.

Commenting on alleged divisions in the APC in Delta State, he said the issue was not peculiar to Delta State.

“The issue of congresses and division did not happen only in Delta. It happened across the country but this is the period of reconciliation. There is a group that did not work with the majority of the people in Delta; we formed a unity group in Delta that had so many Governorship aspirants and leaders working together.

“But as you know, the Ogboru and Omo-Agege group put their own governorship aspiration ahead and decided to work separately but the move we are making is to bring everybody together, provide a level playing field so that all the Governorship aspirants will work together.

“But the great objective we have is how to deliver the President in Delta State 2019. That is our priority and the ground is ripe for us to take over that State and deliver 2 million votes for President Buhari in 2019,” he said.

  • Delta APC Stakeholders meet to forge unity

Vow level playing ground for all Aspirants

Ahead of the All Progressive Congress, APC wards and local government congresses scheduled to commence on Saturday the 5th of May 2018, leaders and stakeholders of Delta APC met to forge unity; promising level playing ground for all party aspirants.

Speaking at Delta State APC stakeholders meeting which held at the country home of Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the leader of Delta APC; Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Chief Hyacinth Enuha maintained that there is no division in Delta APC but a healthy competition amongst brothers.

They added that those spreading rumours of division in Delta APC in Abuja are not on ground and does not mean well for the party in Delta state, stressing that APC is stronger now and ready to displace PDP in 2019 and take over government house.

According to them’ “what the outsider considers as crisis in Delta APC is a healthy competition, we have the Ogboru-Omo-Agege and Emerhor-Enuha tendency in the Delta APC, but after the party primaries we all will work together to defeat PDP at the governorship election.

This platform is what will produce the APC governor from Delta north in 2019 and will also produce APC governor form Delta central in 2023,in four years from now PDP would be dead in Delta.

The meeting which has Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Chief Hyacinth Enuha, Chief Adolor Okotie-Eboh, Air vice Marshall Frank Ajobena (Rtd), Barr. Fred Okpohworo Olokor, NDDC EDP; Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, and seven APC governorship aspirants in attendance promises to work together and ensure level plying ground for all party aspirants in order to defeat PDP come 2019 election

Victor Ochei, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Chief Osiobe Okotie, Dr Iyke Odikpo, Dr. Leroy Edozien and Dr. O’Diakpor Obire and they all pledged to work with the two leaders to ensure rancor free party congresses in the state.

The leaders also charged all stakeholders to return home to their wards and LGAs to work out agree consensus executives that will be supported by all at the congresses where necessary.

Both aspirants and stakeholders also agreed to work together in unity in order to put in place a structure that can win elections in 2019, stressing that some members of the existing Excos will form the bedrock of the new executives with a focus on enhancing its strengths through the injection of new blood.

In their different remarks at the meeting, Prof. Pat Utomi, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, promised to do one term in office if elected as governor of the state come 2019, noting that they believe in equity and justice.
