Popular content creator Ogunleye Babatunde Olamide aka Oluwadolarz, has said that going into content creation requires talent and passion rather than the urge for financial gains.

“I feel like a lot of people are joining content creation because they see the cars and houses we post and they think they can make money too. But you have to be passionate and talented to do skit making because it’s frustrating. If you’re not passionate about it, you will get tired. I’ve seen someone who joined skit-making because he wanted to buy a Benz. You have to be loved genuinely, and that takes a lot of work,” said Oluwadolarz.

Speaking about the growth of the content creation industry, he said, “I am happy to see that the industry has gone far. Gone are the days when we used to share flyers for people to go and watch our skits. People didn’t understand what skit-making was. I am talking about 2010, 2011, and 2012. Now everybody understands, and there are people now who want to watch skits. People don’t watch their TV anymore. People now come online just to watch skits. I am happy that the industry has grown, and for people like me who pioneered the industry, I am happy that there are new talents in the industry.”

I accommodated Sydney Talker, Lord Lamba but they never supported my career – Oluwadolarz

Skit maker Oluwadolarz, has alleged  no one in the industry supported his musical career especially when he released his EP.

He claimed he housed many of his colleagues in the comedy industry in the past.

Oluwadolarz said contrary to the belief that there is love between skit makers in the country, it is “pure competition” behind the facade.

Speaking in a recent interview with Echoo Room, the skit maker lamented that his colleagues in the content creating industry didn’t support his debut EP despite reaching out to them.

He particularly mentioned that the duo of Sydney Talker and Lord Lamba who lived with him in the past also didn’t support him.

He said his experience has led him into working on a documentary in which his life story and the lack of support in the content creating industry will be showcased.

Oluwadolarz said: “I am working on a documentary. It’s going to be about my story; people that I’ve supported in the industry that did not turn up for me.

“I dropped an EP and not one single skit maker or comedian supported it despite reaching out to them. Funny enough, I still support them when they reach out to me even after I dropped my EP and they didn’t support.

“When Sydney Talker came to Lagos, he lived with me for like three, four months. So Sydney is a friend of mine. We were close at the time but he didn’t support my music. Nobody supported my music.

“Bae U just posted it on his story that I just dropped an EP and that was all. Officer Woos shot a skit with me to promote the EP but I couldn’t post it because it would be the only promotional video as other skit makers weren’t ready to support me.
