The flag-off is scheduled to hold at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki.

The governorship candidate of the APC in Ebonyi State, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, said the flag-off will be an opportunity for Ebonyi people to know his plans for the liberation of the state from the stranglehold of the purveyors of poverty and underdevelopment of the State.

“I am on a liberation mission in Ebonyi State. I have always believed that public officers should work to enthrone a government works with the people to enthrone a collective sense of common purpose and direction for the benefit of all stakeholders,” Ogbuoji said. “This belief has not changed; instead it has been strengthened over the years, necessitating my desire to serve the good people of Ebonyi State.”

Other bigwigs of the party who are expected to grace the occasion include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Governor Nassir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Chief Ajomole, former Chairman of All Chairmen of APC, and the members of the National Working Committee of the APC.

“We will ensure that our youths are sufficiently empowered and taken off the streets of Nigerian cities – the era of Ebonyi street hawkers will be a thing of the past when APC takes over government in Ebonyi State come May 2019,” Ogbuoji emphasised.

Analysts who are familiar with political events in the State said that the flag-off accentuate the popularity of the party in the State and lay to rest any semblance of doubt regarding the capacity of the party to garner landslide victory in the February and March elections in the state.

Speaking about the flag-off ceremony, Prince Nweze Onu, the APC Candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, said that Ogbuoji has used his position as a senator to attract many projects to the people of the State.

Onu said that Ogbuoji is a silent achiever who likes his works to speak for him, adding that the numerous projects of the incoming governor of Ebonyi State will be showcased to the people on the flag-off day as a peep into the good times that await Ebonyians when the people’s Senator assumes the political leadership of the State as the Governor.

“Your quick response to enable us and the security agents to gain access to the Stadium from 28th – 30th January 2019, to make adequate preparations,” The Letter concluded.

  • Osinbajo, Oshiomhole, Tinubu attack Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo got a bloody nose yesterday for his blistering criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led the way with a defence of his integrity over the TraderMoni, saying Obasanjo was either ignorant of the workings of the scheme of just been mischievous.

The former president should be ignored, All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said.

The scathing remarks by Obasanjo on the Buhari administration were in bad faith, Tinubu, who is co-Chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, told a crowd of party faithful in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole described the Obasanjo years as an era of impunity, impeachment of governors and bickering between him (Obasanjo) and his deputy, Atiku Abubakar.

Tinubu spoke at the inauguration of the President Buhari re-election campaign in the Northeast—on a day more Nigerians knocked Obasanjo for his statement.

Many of those who reacted said the former leader lacked the moral latitude to criticise the incumbent who, according to them, has been trying to clean up the mess left behind by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 1999 and 2015.

Obasanjo, who was president on the PDP’s platform between 1999 and 2017, alleged in a 16-page statement on Sunday that President Buhari was executing a succession plan like the late Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha.

Among those who commented on the Obasanjo remarks are: Former Alliance for Democracy (AD) National Chairman AbdulKarim Daiyabu; the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO); the Osun State chapter of the APC; Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum and the Katsina State Commissioner for Information, Culture & Home Affairs, Hamza Brodo.

They said the former president is not being truthful.

According to Tinubu, Obasanjo was not happy with the feat attained by the APC government in the clean-up of the 16-year mess created by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said such criticisms from Obasanjo, who he described as an “expired politician”, will not stop the electorate from renewing President Buhari’s mandate for another four years.

Tinubu said: “When we came on board in 2015, we promised Nigerians that we were going to turn the ship of this country to the right direction and we have done that.

“We are sweeping webs of collateral corruption to give Nigerians a new life, new home and a solid foundation; that is what President Buhari is doing and we are 100 per cent behind him.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has been upright, firm and has been steady, focused with great vision for the betterment and progress of this country.

”I can hear the other expired leaders like Obasanjo, ranting and lying; don’t believe him, don’t trust him; he is expired.

”We can recall the rigging in the 2003 general elections under Obasanjo. We also knew what happened in 2007 under President Obasanjo.

“Ninety-five per cent of you must come out and vote en masse for Buhari because no other President has upheld democratic principles like President Buhari.

“In 1999, we gave it to him but he could not one day recognise MKO’s mandate of June 12. Again, when he came back into power, we asked him for the recognition, he failed. Who did it? President Buhari declared June 12 as national Democracy Day to honour the late MKO Abiola.”

Tinubu added that Buhari was committed to upholding the rule of law and entrenching democratic principles. He urged the electorate to give him their mandate for the second time.

Oshiomhole scored Buhari’s administration very high in security, saying, “under the past administration, 24 local governments were under the control of Boko Haram”,  noting that  under Buhari, all the local governments had been liberated.

“No local government area is under the control of the insurgents. You have gain control of the 774 councils. We still have security challenegs but the arrogance, impunity that Nigeria is wallowing in had become a thing of the past.

“Everything that we are in today started in Obasanjo’s regime. Do-or-die politics was Obasanjo’s legacies. Today, the era of impeaching state governors is over. The era of quarrelling with vice president and fighting in the market place is gone.

“The era of withholding funds meant for council areas as it was done to monthly allocations of Lagos State local government areas is over. These are the legacies of the Obasanjo-led administration,” Oshiomhole  said.

The APC chair accused Obasanjo of introducing corruption into the polity.

According to Oshomole, members of the National Assembly were bribed into supporting the botched third term agenda under Obasanjo.

He urged President Buhari to probe what transpired in that era when re-elected.

Residents brushed aside security challenges in Borno and Yobe states to turn out in their large numbers to join the APC presidential campaign train that stopped over in Maiduguri and Damaturu.

Hordes of APC supporters in the two states converged on the Ramat Square in Maiduguri and the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu where President Muhammadu Buhari presented his scorecard and solicited support for re-election on February 16.

President Buhari’s campaign train drove into Maiduguri some few minutes after 10am, greeted by a mammoth crowd on the major streets.

In Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, the President’s convoy was impeded by an army of supporters who took over the roads.

Supporters at the jammed August 27 stadium broke into cheers, singing as the President alighted from a black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

In Maiduguri, President Buhari was received by Governor  Kashim Shettima in the company of former governors and National Assembly members.

The presidential train drove to Shehu of Borno’s palace for the traditional homage before proceeding to the Ramat Square, where party leaders addressed supporters.

A welcome remark by the APC chairman in the state, Ali Bukar Dalori, opened the floodgate of goodwill messages.

Shettima noted that Borno is the President’s natural habitat, stressing that he had always gathered more votes in the state than any other presidential candidate.

He said stakeholders remained resolute to give the President the highest votes in the February 16 election.

Tinubu, Oshiomhole and the Director of the Buhari Presidential Camapaign Council, Rotimi Amaechi, all took turns to address the supporters.

They expressed confidence that the President will be returned on February 16.

Buhari promised to sustain the fight against corruption and Boko Haram.

Buhari, who spoke in Hausa, said: “In 2015, I promised you that I will fight graft, Boko Haram insurgency; and transform the economy for self-reliance, instead of massive importation of food.

”As your President, I want to assure you that our government will reciprocate all the support you have been rendering to this administration and APC.

“On the security situation, it is glaring that the government has done well; we will not relent, but strive to ensure total restoration of peace in the country.

“All of you have attested to it that this government is committed to ending Boko Haram and other criminal activities.”

In Damaturu, the President met with traditional rulers privately at the Presidential Lodge. He was asked to consider their teeming farming population for assistance.

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam promised that Yobe would give the President 100 per cent votes as it had always done.

The governor said: “In 2011, Mr. President, Ibrahim Shekarau was our presidential candidate in ANPP, but you in the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) got the highest votes in Yobe State. In 2015, you had 96 per cent votes in Yobe; this time around, we are going to close that gap by giving you 100 per cent votes in Yobe State.”

Gaidam said the PDP had no stake votes in Yobe, stressing: “The last soul of PDP in zone B, Ibrahim Talba, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, has defected to the APC with Hajiya Mairo Amshi with their supporters.”

One of the high points of the event was the symbolic presentation of APC flags to the party’s governorship candidates of Borno and Yobe, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum and Mai Mala Buni.

Some PDP chieftains, led by former Borno State Governor Mohammed Goni, were received into the APC.

A spokesman for the defectors said their exit marked the burial of PDP in Borno.

  • Retired generals’ conspiracy against Buhari’ll fail, says Oshiomhole

Alleged conspiracy by some retired generals to frustrate the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari next month is doomed to fail, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, vowed yesterday.

Oshiomhole said in Minna, the Niger State capital, that the future of Nigeria is not in the hands of such generals, but in the hands of the majority of Nigerians.

He spoke during the party’s presidential campaign at the Trade Fair complex,Minna.

Buhari at the rally pledged that to continue to implement people-oriented policies and programmes if he was re-elected.

But the APC campaign team was overwhelmed by the time it arrived Jos later in the day so much so that the President could not address them.

Hitting out at the retired generals during the Minna rally,Oshiomhole said: “Many of the retired generals are ganging up against President Buhari, that he will not do eight years while they did more than eight years.

“I remember they did it before, did it in the past.

“But this time, the plan will not work.

“The future of Nigeria is not in the hands of retired generals or former heads of state. It is in the hands of the general people.”

He mentioned no names. He said such retired generals were not happy thatBuhari is fighting corruption.

He accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of  banking on rigging to win the forthcoming election.

His words: “everywhere PDP goes, they are saying the elections will be rigged.

“We need to play those video recordings of where Obasanjo and Atiku said that the election is a win or die matter for PDP.”

He said for those of them in the APC “we remain firm believers in one man one vote, one woman, one vote, and one former head of state, one vote.”

Also addressing the rally,President Buhari promised to embark on massive infrastructural development across the country if re-elected on February 16 .

He said that  arrangement had been concluded for the construction of modern standard  gauge rail line from Minna to Abuja, and to Baro Inland Water  Port to enhance socio economic growth of the state.

He said a new Lagos – Ibadan – Minna – Kaduna and Kano rail line is being  constructed while Mokwa- Jebba federal road is ready.

” We will ensure the completion of the ongoing Zungeru Hydro Power Project and all ongoing federal government projects across the country,” he said.

So much was the crowd that for over one hour,APC leaders pleaded in vain for them to allow the President speak. Buhari had to return to Abuja.

He later extended appreciation to the people of Plateau State for turning out in such large numbers to welcome him in Jos.

His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said:”so much was the turnout that the President could not eventually address the crowd.

“After waiting for about an hour, with the melee not receding, but rather increasing in tempo and fervour, President Buhari received illustrious Plateau citizens who were crossing to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from other political parties, waved at the appreciative crowd, and left for Abuja.

  • PDP replies Oshiomhole on APC’s cover for ‘sinners’

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) has replied the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole over his “once you join the APC your sins are forgiven” comment.

Speaking at APC presidential rally in Benin on Thursday, Oshiomhole had told the gathering that once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven.

But in a reaction on Friday, spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Oshiomhole has finally exposed President Muhammadu Buhari as “patron of corruption”, dismissing the administration’s anti-corruption fight as a ruse.

Ologbondiyan, in a statement, said Oshiomhole, by his comments at the rally, has directly confirmed that the APC is a sanctuary for treasury looters and that President Buhari’s fight against corruption is mere racketeering.

He explained: “With this revelation by Oshiomhole, who is also overburdened by huge corruption allegations for which he had to flee the country last year, it is now established that the APC is a party of thieves and thrives only on deception, lies and propaganda while swimming in an ocean of corruption.

“The fact that President Buhari, who parades as Mr. Integrity, has not reprimanded Oshiomhole but openly relished the assertion, confirms his moral entanglement, accommodation and valid endorsement of corrupt practices by APC members and Presidency cabal.

“Nigerians are all witnesses to how President Buhari became an advocate for Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje over the leaked tape, showing him allegedly collecting bribe from contractors.

“They have also seen how Mr. President, even as supposed Mr. Integrity, surrounds himself with corrupt persons and how most members of his Campaign Organization, as individuals, have been indicted for corruption.

“This is even more worrisome given allegations that the Buhari Presidency and the APC are directly benefiting from the funds being looted under their watch, including the N9 trillion detailed in the leaked NNPC memo; the N33 billion North East intervention fund, the repatriated $322 million stolen under the guise of sharing to the poor, the over N25 billion stolen from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the over N1.4 trillion stolen through sleazy subsidy regimes among others”.

The PPCO said that with that revelation by Oshiomhole, President Buhari no longer has the moral rectitude to seek re-election after he has betrayed Nigerians by failing to uphold the sanctity of the war against corruption as one of the major planks of his re-election campaign.

“Moreover, Oshiomhole and his co-travellers in his corruption roller coaster are reminded that they will soon lose their cover and definitely face trial for their atrocities as Nigerians have resolved to vote out their grand patron, President Buhari from office on February 16, 2019.

“Finally, the PPCO urges the EFCC to commence the investigation and prosecution of members of the APC campaign council as well as new entrants into their party as their factional National Chairman had already confessed that the party is a club of looters,” Ologbondiyan added.

  • I’ll pay Niger Delta more attention – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the people of the Niger Delta that his promise to develop the region would continue to receive serious attention.

President Buhari, who gave the assurance on Thursday at the Warri Township Stadium, during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign/ mega rally for Delta state, also emphasized that his administration’s fight against corruption would receive more serious steam if re-elected next month.

President Buhari, who came as the last speaker at the event, which saw a massive turn out of people from different parts of the state, noted that his administration would continue to give attention to issues of security and the economy, noting that security would allow for proper management of the nation, which would eventually give room for a thriving economy.

“I assure you, the fundamental objectives we have identified and campaigned on in 2015 are still relevant; the country has to be secured to be properly managed and proper management means doing well in the economy. We have a young population, most of them unemployed, this is of great concern.

“We have turned to agriculture and industry. Massively, God has helped us with raining seasons, especially the last two and we have virtually been able to achieve food security as a nation. A lot of young people have been mobilized and they have gone back to land and they haven’t regretted it.

“In the fight against corruption, I assure you that all those who have fraudulently enriched themselves when they were entrusted with public funds, we will eventually get them and deal with them. We are doing it, we will continue to do it and I assure you, we will not abuse your trust.

“I assure you that the programme mentioned here about the development of the Niger Delta will be taken even more seriously. I expect you to please cooperate and vote APC from top to bottom. APC from top to bottom”, the president said.

Others who spoke at the event assured President Buhari of getting his winning figures from Delta state and the other parts of the Niger Delta region.

The Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council and Minister of Transportation, in his remark said “don’t sleep on that day because if you sleep PDP will steal the slip and write results as they always do. You said you want to change Okowa, the only way to change Okowa is to go out that day to vote. Vote for Buhari, vote for Ogboru and don’t vote Okowa, that way APC will win”.

Leader of the Delta Mainstream APC, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, while speaking with journalists at the venue of the event, said the APC would win massively in Delta, saying the “our people are waiting for the elections to come so that we can reciprocate President Buhari’s performance in the state. I can confidently tell you he will score over 80 per cent of the total votes in Delta with this massive turnout in next month’s election. APC has taken over Delta”.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, speaking at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie, where all Urhobo monarchs received the president reeled out the achievements of the administration in Delta state and other parts of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Immediate past governor of the state, who is also contesting the Delta South Senatorial District’s election on the platform of the APC, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, said: “Mr. President, Delta people have seen what you have done and they are ready to vote you in a second time”.

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, also assured President Buhari would sweep the election in Delta state.

National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in his lengthy remark, charged President Buhari to ensure that he follow through till he gets answers to how the $16 billion appropriated by the previous PDP administration was spent and ensure that everyone involved in the mismanagement is punished.

“Yesterday (Wednesday), I was watching the television, I saw PDP Presidential candidate and a former custom officer (Atiku), he was saying in the likely event that If Nigerians make the mistake of their life to vote for him (Atiku) as president, is telling Nigerians whether they like it or not even if he would die that he will sell oil
reserves of Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo states and that he would auction all oil properties of Nigeria whether they (Nigerians) like it or not.

“If somebody put you on notice that if you vote for him that he is going to sell your family, will you agree? Will you vote for him? When Atiku was the vice president, I was the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress. When they wanted to sell Nigeria Airways, when we told him no, he (Atiku) said he don’t care. He just wanted to sell Nigeria Airways”, Oshiomhole said.

Also speaking with journalists, the Executive Director (Projects) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), “Delta state and indeed the Niger Delta region has enjoyed a new facelift through the direct efforts of the federal government and through the intervention of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)”.

  • Oshiomhole: PDP deceived Igbo for 16 years

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,  yesterday  accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  of deceiving the people of the five Southeast states  for the 16years it held sway at the Aso Rock Villa.

Oshiomhole, citing the inability of the PDP to fix Southeast roads during its years in office, said most of the  same highways have now been made motorable by President Muhammadu Buhari in only three and a half years.

Speaking in Umuahia at the flag off  campaign of the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr.Uche Ogah, the APC chair said: “The Igbo made a mistake in 2015, they should not make the same mistake twice.

“In 2019 on the 16th of February, everybody should compare the darkness of 16years and the light that they are beginning to see under President Buhari under  three  and a  half years. The choice will be yours to make.

“You must elect all the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.

“The road network s  in t he Southeast were nothing to write home about in the 16years of PDP in the country.

“The more the PDP broke the ground for the second Niger Bridge, the more the bridge became  weaker.

“But Muhammadu Buhari ,without changing his name to Azikiwe, is doing great things in the construction of the second Niger Bridge.

“Under the PDP, PDP farmers started growing cassava on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.Today, President Muhammadu Buhari ,without changing his name to Azikiwe or Ebele, is rebuilding that road. Many days for the liars, 2019 for the man of truth.”

He urged Abians to vote out the incumbent governor,  Okezie Ikpeazu and replace him with Ogah, saying Ikpeazu has failed workers in the state by not utilizing the Paris Club refunds to pay their salary arrears.

He said: “as a former president of the NLC, I know that the primary purpose of government is the welfare of citizens. And you cannot lay claim to public welfare when you are treating your employees as slaves.

“The incumbent governor of the PDP collected Paris fund refund and President Buhari told him to go and pay my people in Abia State.

“Ikpeazu, how do you sleep when your workers are not being paid? He collected the Paris fund refund twice and ended up diverting the funds.

“We are here to win. When Uche Ogah wins, he is going to provide progressive governance. That is why we are in business. We want to measure how much impact that we have made in the lives of the people.”

Oshiomhole  presented Ogah, his running mate,Mr. Martin Azubuike and the APC senatorial candidates; former governor of the  state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, and Sir Marc Wabara for Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South senatorial Districts respectively to the people.

Also speaking, Dr. Uzor-Kalu urged Abia people to vote out PDP and enthrone a committed government.

He said:”when I was Governor,  salaries were paid promptly. There was free education. I built this stadium. Today our university is dead. T A Orji wasted eight years and left Abia this way. We will make a change.

“We will elect Buhari with 70 percent votes. We will elect Ogah. He is   a business man like me. We will pay salaries and pensions. No new roads in Aba and Umuahia 12 years after I left. Today no road leads to Abia because of people like Ikpeazu.”

  • Oshiomhole, Amaechi, Akume to Nigerians: shun PDP, Atiku

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday advised  Nigerians, especially  youths, to keep their distance  from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku  Abubakar, in their own interest and that of Nigeria.

Oshiomhole with whom were Transportation Minister Rotimi Ameachi and former governor of Benue State, Senator  George Akume, told the people of  Plateau State to be wary of empty promises from the PDP in the build-up to this year’s elections.

They spoke at the flag-off of the campaign for the re-election of Governor Simeon Lalong of Plateau State at Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos.

Oshiomole, who received hundreds of defectors from the PDP and other political parties at the rally, urged Nigerians to reject Alhaji Atiku.

The PDP, according to him, is out to sell Nigeria and urged the people to say “no to Atiku.”

Amaechi described Lalong as a humble person who has lived up to his campaign promises.

He blasted the PDP for anchoring its campaign on alleged hunger in Nigeria.

He said if PDP leaders who ruled Nigeria in the past had not milked Nigeria dry, Nigeria would have been better off today.

He said:”The next election is not about Buhari and Atiku, but it should be about what the PDP has done in 16 years and what the APC has done in three years. Buhari is addressing the problems of Nigeria and very soon we will overcome the present challenges.”

Wife of the President,  Aisha Buhari, who was represented by former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Dame Pauline Tallen, said a vote for Buhari and Lalong is a vote for the development of Nigeria and Plateau State.

She admonished women and youths in Plateau to mobilize massive votes for the President and all APC candidates during the 2019 general elections.

Senator Akume said Buhari is far better than Atiku in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

Governor Lalong described Buhari as his political godfather.

He said:”When I was elected in 2015, I never knew where to start, but when I went to Mr President, he extended his support.

“He has given us peace on the Plateau and anytime I ask him for anything, he never hesitates in granting my request.

“So, Buhari is my political godfather.’’

The defectors, who formally joined the APC yesterday, were led by ex-factional Chairman of National Football Association (NFA), Chris Giwa, while chairmen of 45 political parties in the state endorsed Buhari and Lalong for the 2019 elections.

Oshiomole urged the defectors to join the re-enforcement of the power of the broom in providing quality and purposeful leadership in the country.

  • Osinbajo, Oshiomhole to receive PDP defectors in Jos

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, are expected on Friday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, to receive thousands of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties.

The reception for the Plateau defectors is incorporated into the campaign kick-off for the state’s governorship campaign and other party candidates.

APC State Chairman Latep Dabang announced this yesterday to reporters in Jos.

Dabang said: “Vice President Osinbajo, APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, among other dignitaries, are to receive thousands of defectors from the main opposition party, the PDP, as well as other parties, on January 4.”

The chairman said security arrangement had been concluded for the event to hold at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

He said: “There is no PDP in Plateau State again; the party is dead. The Friday event will bring together all Plateau State people from the 17 local government areas as one APC family.

“APC is running a government where developments are made practical and people-oriented. This is why the people have resolved not to remain in any other party apart from APC. We are receiving the few ones that are still left in the PDP and other parties.

“The figure of the defectors cannot be ascertained at the moment. We are still compiling it because they keep coming everyday. The actual figure will be revealed on Friday.”

  • Oshiomhole, Tinubu eulogise Ekere, assure Akwa Ibom of good governance

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have assured the people of Akwa Ibom State of better days ahead when the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, becomes Governor in 2019.

Both APC leaders spoke at the weekend during the presidential campaign flag-off for the South-South Zone in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Tinubu, who spoke first, recalled the performance records of the Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio governments in Akwa Ibom State and assured the people that Ekere would bring back development to the state.

His words: “Unlike PDP government there now, they keep complaining. They keep drawing us back. Attah came in, performed creditably well. Akpabio came in, you saw development, progress of this state. Ever since, happiness has frozen. We are waiting for Nsima Ekere to take over and bring development and happiness to this state. By the Grace of God Almighty, we are going to get victory.”

On his part, Oshiomhole who presented the symbolic flag to Ekere and three other candidates in the South-South Zone, said the Akwa Ibom State APC flag bearer was coming to govern the state with a rich experience.

  • 2019: APC deserves 100% votes – Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the party deserves 100 per cent votes from Katsina State during the 2019 general elections.

Oshiomhole stated this during the flag-off of the campaign for the re-election of Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State on Saturday in Funtua, in the state.

Oshiomhole said this was because President Buhari is from the state, hence the need for all the people of the state to come out en masse and vote for him and other candidates of the party during the elections.
“No one should stay at home during the election. The people of  Katsina State should come out en masse and vote for President Buhari, he is from the state and has done well,” he said.
The chairman said that APC needs majority in the National Assembly to assist the President to move the country forward.
He said that both President Buhari and Gov. Masari deserved another term to continue to execute projects for the development of the country.
He commended the governor for executing numerous projects on education, health, water supply and agriculture during the past three and a half years.
“Four years are not enough to provide education, water and others to the people.
“The governor needs another term to do more to people and move the state forward,” Oshiomhole said.
In his remarks, Gov. Masari said that he would continue to do more on education and other sectors if re-elected.
He said this was because education is the key to any development.
Masari, therefore, urged the people of the state to come out en masse and vote for President Buhari, himself and other candidates of the party.
He also said that voting for President Buhari is for future development of the nation.
“During the flag-off campaign in Uyo, President Buhari  promised to make life of Nigerians better and easier if re-elected,” the governor said.(NAN)
