Osimhen weighs options amid  Al Ahli audacious offers

Nigeria international striker  Victor Osimhen is reportedly  reviewing  alternative options  following the imminent departure of Cristiano Giuntoli’s from Juventus.

Italian news outlet, Football Italia, claimed the departure of the Juventus chief means that the Bianconeri are no longer expected to pursue a deal for the  Napoli-owned striker in the summer transfer window..

Osimhen is expected to be sold by Napoli during the summer transfer window after an impressive season on loan with Galatasaray. He has a release clause worth €75m in his contract, which will be valid for teams outside Serie A this summer.

Despite the fact that they are unable to trigger the release clause in Osimhen’s contract with Napoli, Juventus have still been keen on the idea of striking a deal with the Partenopei.

Giuntoli, who has been working as Juventus’s sporting director, used to work in the same role at Napoli and was responsible for bringing Osimhen to Serie A in the first place.

Juventus had been prepared to lodge an offer with Napoli in the first half of July, even though Napoli have always maintained that they did not wish to negotiate with Juventus, a direct league rival.

However, with Giuntoli now expected to leave the club, Juventus are no longer expected to pursue a deal for the Nigeria international this summer.

That leaves Osimhen needing to review some of his alternative options, among which is Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who are prepared to offer a lucrative contract in order to lure the Nigeria international to the Middle East.

Russia coach expects tough Nigeria sans  Osimhen, Lookman

Russia coach has warned Super Eagles will not be soft touch Friday even though they will be without top stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

This will be the first-ever clash between Russia and Nigeria at full international level.

“It doesn’t change our preparation at all. Without Osimhen and Lookman, there will be other equally good footballers,” Russia coach Valeri Karpin told Komsomolskaya Pravda

“Now there are many media outlets, bloggers, internet broadcasts… They write: “Nigeria is bringing a second team” only because two leaders didn’t come.”

The Russian coach was quick to point out that his own squad is also without several key names.

“Then we can also say that we are bringing a second team. We don’t have Golovin, we don’t have Zakharyan. Golovin, Zakharyan, Barinov, Diveev were not in the match with Zambia,” he said.

“These are our main players, our stars. Safonov was not there. But no one is talking about this.”

Karpin revealed that he is looking forward to facing top Super Eagles players like Sevilla forward Kelechi Iheanacho and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, but admitted he’d have preferred Osimhen and Lookman to test his squad.

“Of course. I repeat, I would like to have both Osimhen and Lookman to test our team against the best players,” he said.

“But their absence certainly does not make Nigeria fundamentally weaker.”
