    • …youths commence door-to-door awareness for APC for 2026/2027

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ila-Orangun Federal Constituency, Hon. Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin, has expressed confidence that the party’s 2026 governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, will pursue participatory and inclusive governance if elected.

Adeniyi, who is seeking the House of Representatives seat, said the proposed leadership style would reflect the aspirations of the people of Osun State.

He spoke to journalists at the Boluwaduro Local Government Council during ongoing door-to-door awareness campaigns across three local government areas.

According to him, Oyebamiji represents a pathway to sustainable development, inclusiveness, and good governance in the state, adding that the APC candidate would build on existing progress and advance the collective interests of residents.

Also speaking, a former Chairman of Ila-Orangun Local Government, Otunba Segun Awotunde, said the mobilisation efforts being led by the House of Representatives aspirant would continue across all polling units.

He noted that the initiative is aimed at encouraging capable and principled youths to play active roles in governance.

Awotunde described Adeniyi as a leader with a people-focused approach to representation, rooted in service, guided by strong values, and driven by commitment to collective development.

“Adeniyi’s political journey reflects a clear understanding that leadership is not defined by titles, but by purpose, the responsibility to give voice to the people and act decisively in their interest.

“Across communities and constituencies, he consistently demonstrates the principles of inclusiveness, and he listens attentively, engages meaningfully, and mobilizes citizens toward shared goals. His leadership style resonates deeply with youths, community leaders, and grassroots stakeholders who see in him not mere ambition, but representation anchored in conscience, integrity, and accountability.”

Oyebamiji receives PDP defectors into APC, says Accord Party sinking

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has received defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the party.

He also declared the Accord Party to which Governor, Ademola Adeleke belongs is fast losing relevance and sinking in the State.

The APC candidate spoke during a meeting with PDP defectors conveyed by founder of Ajisope Development Initiative, Abdulkabir Adeoye.

He urged members of the ruling party to join his guber ambition for better governance.

He dispelled  claims by Adeleke that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu advised him to join Accord Party, saying, “we must not give room for lies and rigging plots by the party.”

He said: “There is no way for those who are still in Accord Party. Tell them to come and join us. The President did not tell anybody to go to Accord Party as they are saying around.”

He advised members of Ajisope initiative to go and work in their units and make sure they deliver them, saying “it is operation win your unit. Let us go and work in our unit. Try to win your unit. Immediately we win the election, we should know that joy has come.”

Oyebamiji, who also disputed claims that he plans to reduce workers salary, stated that no reasonable person will try that.

He also faulted claims that he released a blueprint that is not favourable to the people of Osun, saying lies can not save the present government from being sent packing on August 8.

The founder Ajisope Development Initiative, Adeoye condemned the style of governance by the present administration in the state, describing it as a government by the Ede and for the Ede.

“We are confident that APC is winning the coming election. The present government does not want to know that other towns exist except their hometown, Ede. The road that leads to my hometown, Oba, is in a dilapidated condition. Let them know that we are tired of this government of Ede, by Ede, and for Ede.”

The leader of the defectors, Hon. Raji Kareem, explained that the initiative has gathered defectors from different political parties, while artisans and professional bodies have also joined the initiative.

He lamented unequal treatment in the PDP, vowing that he would use his influence to see to the emergence of Oyebamiji in the August 8 governorship election.

  • Oyetola, Oyebamiji and the Osun guber equation

Oyetola, Oyebamiji and the Osun guber equation

Make no mistake: the Osun State governorship election, slated for August 8, this year, is far from a done deal. We are looking at a scrappy, bruising, super three-horse race. The current clout of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun simply does not mirror its dominance in Ekiti, where the ruling party appears more entrenched ahead of its own June 20, 2026 contest.

With no real ideological daylight between the major contenders – the Accord Party (A), the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), and the APC – personality will be thrust to the fore. In the end, the individual, not the platform, will likely be the deciding factor.

Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji – known to everyone simply as AMBO – will have former Governor Gboyega Oyetola in his corner, to borrow from boxing parlance. Across the ring, the chief motivator of the ADC’s campaign will be his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Effectively, we are looking at a titanic clash of personalities, a shadow-war that might just swallow the actual names on the ballot.

What Oyebamiji must lean on is the growing, restless clamour across the state for real managerial competence. Right now, there is an eerie feeling that Osun’s stewardship has become haphazard – a ship drifting without a clear map for sustainable development. AMBO can seize an early lead if he sells himself as the steady hand – a seasoned manager capable of rising above petty bickering to lock the state’s sights back on actual development. He has no choice!

Like him or not, Rauf Aregbesola remains a formidable grassroots engine and a ferocious campaigner. On his own, the ADC candidate lacks a particular persona that truly sticks with the streets, meaning he’ll be forced to lean hard on the charismatic Ogbeni to do the heavy lifting of the campaign.

Oyebamiji and his mentor – the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy – will inevitably beat the drum of ‘the benefits of aligning with the centre.’ This plays the potent ace card of ‘Cultural Hegemony’, which, in our local parlance, translates to the persuasive ‘Omo wa ni, e jé ó sé’ (He is our son, let him lead). This is a massive advantage for the Oyetola/Oyebamiji camp and one that must be kept in constant rotation; after all, politics is built on the law of constant reminders, as that master of the dark arts, Niccolò Machiavelli, was wont to say. It is a card that will be flogged to death, and one the Ademola Adeleke camp will find incredibly difficult to neutralize.

On his part, Adeleke is wrestling with both image and political demons. It feels as though Osun, under the governor, is drifting in a state of anomie. People aren’t exactly enthralled by his stewardship, yet they don’t quite loathe him either. Of course, there’s a limit to how much ‘Skelewu’ rigmarole one can feed the electorate. Ultimately, one must wonder: beyond just jumping in the ring, what exactly will Adeleke’s campaign message lean on?

The deeper truth? Adeleke is no orator, let alone a naturally commanding figure. But he’s got one wild card: his nephew. Bringing in Davido to stir the youth is a massive play, no doubt. But the real question is whether the governor has a team capable of actually decoding the lyrics of Osun politics – turning that stadium hype into cold, hard votes. Walahi, it’s a desperate gamble. After all, noise at a rally and numbers at the poll have never been known to share the same frequency.

With nearly 200,000 newly registered voters added to the state’s tally of 1.95 million, the real question is: what slice of that number falls into the ‘Davido bracket’ – the young, the restless, those for whom a superstar’s nod acts as a command? It will be telling to see if Osun APC keeps that same fire in the current registration drive. That momentum alone could shift the earth under the candidates’ feet.

The outcome of previous and current registration cycles – if leveraged with a sharp, strategic thrust – will be decisive. So, we must interrogate the demographic makeup of these new additions, specifically the geographic spread across the three senatorial districts. Particular attention must be paid to traditional, high-turnout hubs like Osogbo, Ede, Ilesa, Ile-Ife and Ijebu-Jesa. This distribution is a heavyweight factor that must sit at the centre of any serious analytical projection.

The gravity of current economic realities must be factored into every permutation. We are told that all politics is local, but the national economic crisis inevitably seeps down to the local government level. And, while the prize is still anyone’s to claim, the reality is that Oyebamiji sits on a heap of untapped advantages. If he shuffles his deck right and plays his cards with enough skill, he has a clear path to victory.

The past should serve as a guide, but it must not become an obsession. Life does not stop at a fact; it deals with it. Anything else is mere PR! Having lost the last two elections in a row, it is clear the structure of the Osun APC is currently fragile and must be revitalized with earnestness. In other words, the party can no longer take victory for granted.

To breathe new life into the fold, Oyebamiji should secure a first-class, shrewd campaign manager capable of weaving disparate strands into an unbreakable cord – and Oyetola must be central to this effort. He must leverage his vast networks and the substantial public goodwill he still commands. As I have noted elsewhere, how IleriOluwa rebuilds the party into a fighting force will largely define his legacy. Again, I stand by it!

While Osun APC is fortunate to have avoided major defections after the primary – likely because “federal might” makes decamping unattractive – this is no time to bleach reality with the toning cream of complacency. Take it or leave it, the war is far from won. Therefore, the party must conduct a thorough post-mortem of its setbacks and move swiftly to pacify those sitting on the fence, as well as those waiting for the election proper to “extract their revenge.”

History, it is often said, writes its summary not based on who shouted the loudest or danced the longest, but on whose policies outlived their tenure. Beyond the “Bitter Spectators” label, politics is more than a game of “who leads the house”; it is a contest of ideas. Above all, modern politics has transcended raw emotion; it is now about sifting through cold realities. Far from dwelling in the valley of “bitter spectators,” Oyetola and his lieutenants, like Oyebamiji, are the architects of the fiscal foundation upon which the current administration now builds.

To thrive, Osun does not need the erasure of Oyetola’s legacy to justify Adeleke’s presence. It needs a recognition that his “unfinished business” is, in fact, the ongoing pursuit of a state that works – not through the “heart of love” alone, but through the cold, hard discipline of governance.

As previously noted, ‘Cultural Hegemony’ – the instinctual pull to identify with one’s own, specifically a Yoruba man at the centre – remains a positive factor for the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. His consistency and loyalty to both his principal, President Bola Tinubu, and his mentor, Gboyega Oyetola, are clean and clear. For now, discerning calculations put the APC candidate slightly ahead. But a caveat is necessary: these are early days, and the road to Bola Ige House remains long.

May the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, grant us peace in Nigeria!

    Oyebamiji’s vision for Osun youths

    By Olalekan Oni

Hope was reignited among young people in Osun State at a youth stakeholders’ meeting organised by the APC Youths, Osun State, in collaboration with the City Boy Movement, Osun State Chapter, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial flag bearer, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), unveiled his bold, youth-centred vision for the state.

Addressing a gathering of youth leaders, party faithful, and grassroots mobilisers, Asiwaju Oyebamiji made it unequivocally clear that his administration, if elected, would place youths at the very centre of governance and development. He emphasised that young people would not merely serve as foot soldiers during the campaign but would be active participants and decision-makers in his government, with their voices heard loudly and respected at all levels.

The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) outlined a comprehensive strategy to tackle youth unemployment and economic exclusion. According to him, his administration will drastically reduce unemployment through deliberate investments in small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), expanded skill acquisition programmes, talent and innovation promotion, access to low-interest SME loans, and targeted support for artisans and informal sector operators.

Oyebamiji further highlighted plans to attract foreign direct investments (FDIs) into Osun State as a pathway to industrialisation. He noted that industrial growth would create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths, stimulate local production, and strengthen the state’s economy. In addition, he promised structured training in various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills to equip Osun youths with globally competitive competencies, enabling them to thrive in the digital economy and secure sustainable livelihoods.

He reaffirmed that youth empowerment under his leadership would be intentional, inclusive, and sustainable, aligning with the broader progressive ideals of the APC and the Renewed Hope philosophy at the national level.

The declaration was met with resounding applause, chants, and overwhelming affirmation from youths in attendance, who pledged their total support, mobilisation, and commitment to the AMBO project. The atmosphere reflected renewed confidence, collective excitement, and a shared belief that a new dawn of youth-driven governance is on the horizon for Osun State.

Indeed, AMBO ti dé and Osun youths are ready.

Osun 2025: Ogunbiyi collapses structure for Oyebamiji, declares Senate ambition

A former leading governorship aspirant and Chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Akin Ogunbiyi, on Saturday collapsed his political structure for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the 2026 election.

The Ile-Ogbo-born politician also declared his intention to contest the Osun West Senatorial seat on the APC ticket.

Ogunbiyi, who named his political movement ‘Idera De’, was among the 8 contenders for the APC gubernatorial ticket, which Oyebamiji later clinched through a consensus arrangement.

While addressing his supporters across the state during a debrief meeting with members and leaders of his campaign structure in Osogbo,  Ogunbiyi commended them for their steadfastness.

According to him, we are very happy because I am from the West and we want the governorship candidate to emerge from the Osun West. We are grateful to God that one has happened.

“As for my belief and vision to govern the state. That has become a secondary issue now that a candidate of the party has emerged. So I have come to brief my supporters across the state that there is no more grouping. Just like all of us, aspirants, nine of us, we all agree to work for the party.

“Everyone of us had a meeting, and we resolved that everyone of us will work. We will do everything within our respective constituencies to ensure that Bola Oyebamiji emerges as the governor of Osun State from August this year.”

He expressed confidence that Oyebamiji will emerge as the winner on August 8th 2026.

He said: “Our leaders have individually and collectively mentioned to me that I will pick the senatorial ticket. I don’t have any reason to doubt them. So I am putting on record to my supporters that we have not lost anything.

“The most important thing is for Bola Oyebamiji to emerge as the elected governor. If that happens, by the grace of God, I, Akin Ogunbiyi, from Iwo Federal constituency, by the special grace of God and the support of our leaders, I will emerge as the senator of the West.”

Subsequently, he officially disbanded his political structure, charging them to work tirelessly for Oyebamiji’s emergence as the governor of Osun State.

“Before I came to do this today, I had all my caucuses, we had all met and resolved that the party’s candidate is the ultimate that we have to work for. That has been done. We may not be too happy that they didn’t give us the governorship, but that doesn’t mean that we are not still going to work for the party. We have 170,000 votes in Iwo, and I am telling everybody that by the special grace of God, progressives should count on Iwo, as we have always done in the past, we will still deliver for Oyebamiji, and we will deliver for APC.”

Supporters gathered at Iraye Junction, marched through Oke-Amala, and concluded the walk at the palace.

Addressing the APC members in Yoruba, Oba Toriola urged unity among supporters and discouraged any form of bitterness, strife, or violence.

“Modakeke has accepted you all because you are from this town. You should know our history—we are not divided but united. Work for your candidate without strife and fighting. Peace is key. Go door to door for mobilisation; God will uphold you, ensure your efforts succeed, and protect you all,” he said.

He said, “We are starting house-to-house sensitisation against the lies and propaganda of the incumbent government.  We are on course, and nothing will deter us from delivering victory for APC. 2026: NANS Southwest endorses APC’s Oyebamiji for Osun governorship

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone, on Monday endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), for the Osun State governorship race.

Announcing the endorsement, the NANS Southwest coordinator, Comrade Taiwo Owolewa, said the decision was based on Oyebamiji’s consistent support for youth development, education, and student engagement. He described the APC candidate as a leader with proven capacity, accessibility, and a firm commitment to inclusive governance.

“AMBO has demonstrated capacity, accessibility, and commitment to inclusive leadership. His impeccable antecedents and outstanding records in public service, along with his sustained relationship with students and young people across Osun State and the Southwest, clearly reflect a leader who understands governance from the people’s perspective,” Owolewa said.

He added that the association has passed a vote of confidence in Oyebamiji, expressing belief that his administration would strengthen youth participation, advance education, and drive people-focused development.

Owolewa urged the electorate to support and actively participate in the democratic process, stating that NANS had mobilised about 20 million students for voter registration in Osun State and that those registered would back the APC candidate.

He also commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for initiatives targeting student welfare, noting that programmes such as NELFUND, PiCNG, and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) scheme have expanded opportunities in technical, vocational, digital, and entrepreneurial development.

Oyebamiji: we will resist rigging against APC

The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has vowed that the party would resist rigging during 2026 election slated for August 8.

He alleged APC was rigged out during the 2022 Osun State governorship election, asserting that the party would take over governance in 2026.

The standard-bearer, speaking yesterday at the APC state secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, during a meeting with the youth arm of the party, urged members to begin door-to-door awareness.

Addressing the youth, he said: “I want to assure you that 2026 will not be like 2022 when we were rigged out of office. We should work hard. For this forthcoming election, governments across the world will stand with us.

“Many people, who are seeing what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing, are willing to join the cause. We must deliver. You must work. This government will be for youths. We are going to programme a system that will reward youths.”

He admonished the youth not to be lackadaisical about the forthcoming poll.

“We are eager to take over, but we have yet to work towards it. God has given us a goal post and set us up to play penalty into an empty net. Despite this, we should work assiduously.

“We must go back to doing house-to-house, door-to-door awareness about the forthcoming election. Our opponents have started lying to Osun people, you must break these lies.”

The state APC Youth Leader, Olagoke Akinwemimo, said: “The choice of Oyebamiji is perfect, which has shattered the expectations of the opposition, who predicted division and failure within our party.”
